- The Masked Avenger| 1 replyGot a call from this number and see here it is BB&T Bank.
Strange thing is that I have never banked with them. Why would they be calling me?
If it is the fraud dept then I am at a loss as to what they want. They did not even leave a message, so it must not be important enough for me to call back.
Weird! - JohnPPick up the phone its BB&T Fraud they are calling because of wied transaction on you debit or credit card. The only personal info they will ask you is your name and zipcode. Im glad they called but today I went out of state and bought some thing so they called to make sure it was me. Im glad someone is watching out for me 24/7.
- Caller: BB&T Fraud
- SnortObvious fraud. I have never banked with BB&T. These messages verifying the scam are also fradulent.
- scyankeeYes, I too got a message....thank goodness I called back right away...very legit, and very comforting to know that BBT has my back.
- Judy Turner| 1 replyThis number has contacted my home and cell asking for debit card info.
- Caller: BB&T
- DunnowhoIamanymoreThis number had called my Cell Phone.
Did leave a message, they are from BBT Fraud Department. They wanted to verify some online transactions that were made using my BBT Debit Card.
Nice to know my Bank is watching out for me.- Caller: BBT
- silasit dosent sound right too me iam gonna look further more into it by calling customer service
- Caller: bbt
- Call type: Telemarketer
- HilaryLegit number. They DID confirm to me that the 877 number was theirs but...
--->>> since you don't want to trust people on the internet (I don't), call the regular BBT 800 customer service number. Once you get to a human, ask them to connect you with the fraud department IF there are any notations on any of your accounts.
They are just checking to make sure a suspicious transaction was something you actually made. Typically anything in a larger than normal amount or something outside of the country (even if you buy something online from Canada for example.) Mine was a legit purchase but I'm glad they were trying to call anyway.
Selecting 1 from the regular 800 # menu should get you to a human the fastest since you are NOT trying to report fraud, just trying to get to the fraud department cautiously.- Caller: BB&T Fraud Department
- Imblsd55I got a call from this number today as well and I was skeptical, but after reading the postings, I called the regular BBT customer service 800 # and talked to a live person there who called the fraud department for me. I had made several purchases today and more than I usually do so they called to confirm that I did indeed make the purchases. It is a legitimate call. It's good to know that your bank is looking out for you. thank you BBT for looking out.
- A PearceI was never left a message.
- memeecalled back # based on comments already posted. It is legit. BB&T didn't recognize a transaction I had made. I was not asked to provide any personal information in its entirety, instead, it was a combination of things plus they knew the date, amount & location of my transaction.
- Caller: BB&T fraud dept.
- A manReally is BBT fraud dept. Do call them back.
- Caller: BB&T
- Call type: Event reminder
- Glad To Hear...Legit call. BB&T just verifying a transaction I made earlier today. Definitely call the number back.
- Caller: BBT
- mandaThis was the BB&T debit card fraud alert automated message. It's legitimate. They just want you to verify a purchase if it is out of the area you typically use your debit card. I've been with BB&T for years, and have always gotten a call within 24 hours if I've used my card in an area that seems out of place - on vacation, right after moving, etc.
- Caller: BB&T
- Christinaalways call your bank number listed on your card
- Caller: BB&T
- Krtills replies to The Masked AvengerIt is perfectly ligit. If you don't bank with them then the telephone number is a mistake to you.
Whenever a transaction is made that is from another state or country, they call asap to make sure it was you who purchased the item. It is a good protection that they do this. Many financial institutions do not do this practice. - Fraud Squad| 1 replyPart of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

- Shill Alert replies to sandi| 10 repliesIt's a scam - the fake remarks above are from a shill for the fraud.
- Shill Alert replies to M Edwards| 2 repliesAnother shill for the fraud posting lies here. They have been spamming the site with fake reviews so that victims will come here and think they received a call from the bank, when in fact this is a phishing fraud operation.
- Don't Be Fooled replies to Lynn| 1 replyAnother obviously fake "review", shrieking that you have to call this fraudulent number back right away.
