Got a call from this number and see here it is BB&T Bank.

Strange thing is that I have never banked with them. Why would they be calling me?
If it is the fraud dept then I am at a loss as to what they want. They did not even leave a message, so it must not be important enough for me to call back.

Pick up the phone its BB&T Fraud they are calling because of wied transaction on you debit or credit card. The only personal info they will ask you is your name and zipcode. Im glad they called but today I went out of state and bought some thing so they called to make sure it was me. Im glad someone is watching out for me 24/7.

Obvious fraud. I have never banked with BB&T. These messages verifying the scam are also fradulent.

This number has contacted my home and cell asking for debit card info.

This number had called my Cell Phone.

Did leave a message, they are from BBT Fraud Department. They wanted to verify some online transactions that were made using my BBT Debit Card.

Nice to know my Bank is watching out for me.

They are just checking to make sure a suspicious transaction was something you actually made. Typically anything in a larger than normal amount or something outside of the country (even if you buy something online from Canada for example.) Mine was a legit purchase but I'm glad they were trying to call anyway.

Selecting 1 from the regular 800 # menu should get you to a human the fastest since you are NOT trying to report fraud, just trying to get to the fraud department cautiously.

I got a call from this number today as well and I was skeptical, but after reading the postings, I called the regular BBT customer service 800 # and talked to a live person there who called the fraud department for me.  I had made several purchases today and more than I usually do so they called to confirm that I did indeed make the purchases.  It is a legitimate call.  It's good to know that your bank is looking out for you.  thank you BBT for looking out.

called back # based on comments already posted. It is legit. BB&T didn't recognize a transaction I had made. I was not asked to provide any personal information in its entirety, instead, it was a combination of things plus they knew the date, amount & location of my transaction.

This was the BB&T debit card fraud alert automated message. It's legitimate. They just want you to verify a purchase if it is out of the area you typically use your debit card. I've been with BB&T for years, and have always gotten a call within 24 hours if I've used my card in an area that seems out of place - on vacation, right after moving, etc.

It is perfectly ligit.  If you don't bank with them then the telephone number is a mistake to you.

Whenever a transaction is made that is from another state or country, they call asap to make sure it was you who purchased the item.  It is a good protection that they do this.  Many financial institutions do not do this practice.
