- liz| 2 repliesI keep getting calls every hour from an unknown number telling me to call 877-611-1815. The first call they don't ask for a person, they tell me it is an urgent business matter. The second call they ask for a Robert montoya and tell me to call same number referenced above and give me a reference number. I call, I get disconnected. I call back I get a mail box so I left a nasty message. Who the hell are these people?

- K.G.I just got a call from this number on my cell, which I never give out. Same message was left stating it wasn't a sales call etc. and that I need to call them back before 9pm this evening. I have no idea who they are, what the want, or why they are calling my cell phone.
- AngieI got a recorded message from a man with a deep voice. No reference number was left. I have Verizon and I'm paid off. So I called the number and a guy answered "CCA". I asked if it was "Corrections Corp of America" and he said yes. I asked if they had to do with prisons and telemarketing. He said no, debt collection. He asked for my number but I said I didn't trust him to give it and explained how a search turned up information about telemarkers from prison. The guy got ticked and said, "If it has anything to do with you, you'll get a letter about it." Then he hung up.
I called back and asked another guy the same thing. He again said it was Corrections Corp of America and said they collect on legal, educational, and other types of loans. I didn't give him my number. He didn't ask. It could be about a student loan I'm behind on. I might have hubby call later and give our number and see if we wait on hold forever or what. Or I'll see if I have any letters with this phone number on it.
Either way, it seems the call is not so urgent it MUST be returned today. But I already knew that. LOL- Caller: CCA "Corrections Corp of America"

- K SMITHCalled back this #---wanted to know my home phone # -told him caller ID should bring that up --- he hung up --- I called back -- got same guy (Mark) same thing hang up -- this is a fraud --- how do I stop this?
- JamesA man called at 8am stating that I needed to call asap that this was a very important business matter and was not a telemarketer and not to ignore the call. He stated his name as Mark Moorehouse and gave an extension of 14290 and gave a ref #. He sounded very intimidating, this call was very disturbing.
- aggravated consumer| 1 replyThis number belongs to CCA - Collection Companies of America. We all need to ban together as they are violating the Fair Debt Collection Act by not identifying their company. When I asked what CCA stood for, I was told that they are a accounting/receiving company. I told them that CCA stood for Collection Companies of America and they said that use to be their name. I have informed them numerous times that I have paid my bill with Verizon to Verizon and they keep calling even after they know they have the payment. Today, they stated it was a "courtesy call" to inform me that Verizon has notified them of the payment. Can you say Class Action Lawsuit?

- catCaller left a message to return call on urgent matter. Since I have no outstandling debts and have not entered any contests I called to request my number be removed. then they wanted my snail mail address and then the last four digits of my social. BS! I gave them nothing, and I am reporting them to the Do Not Call Registry. I suggest you all do the same.

- janiceI just got this today, I just went to the donotcall registry and filed a complaint. thanks to everyone posting their experience!!
- New YorkThis company has been calling our home phone # for the past 4 or 5 days - about the same time every day! The phone number comes up on our caller ID as: TOLL FREE CALL 800-446-1022. I answered the first phone call and immediately thought it was a telemarketer. They were asking for my husband, but I told them he wasn't home. They proceeded to call again for the next 3 days and I just ignored the call. Another time they called and I answered it again because I thought maybe it might have been something important, but again it was the same thing - someone with a terrible accent asking for my husband. This morning they called again at 8:30 am and left a message on our machine saying "this is a time-sensitive matter......please call us back at 877-611-1815 with this reference #" I got on the internet to see what this phone # might be and I found this website!!!! I now see that this is a scam and just a bunch of crappy telemarketers! My husband and I are deleting the message on our machine and are hoping that this company will "take the hint" that we are not returning their phone call! In fact - they are calling again right now as I am typing this up! UNREAL!!!

- shouting from the roof topsI, too, recently switched from Verizon and when CCA called me they told me it was related to a "precollections" debt with Verizon. Mind you, I tried repeatedly to get the bottom line on my balance, account, etc. from Verizon when I converted a month and a half ago. Verizon, who should be prosecuted, assigned a new account to me and neglected to tell me so. I tried calling them repeatedly, was put on hold, disconnected, etc. before they finally admitted that there was a new account.
I thought I resolved my account issues with them last week and then CCA calls...CCA indicated that there was a charge of $15.00 added to the balance of $20.65 on my account and that if I didn't pay it they'd report me to the credit agencies.....bla, bla, bla... CCA is totally in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm
They're not allowed to do the following, among other things:
"Debt collectors may not:
give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit bureau;
send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency when it is not; or
use a false name.
Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, collectors may not:
collect any amount greater than your debt, unless your state law permits such a charge;"
Verizon should be prosecuted for this illegal behavior!~ It's outrageous! And CCA is their henchman!- Caller: CCA

- AnnonyedSame phone call, but I have never been a Verizon Customer. I did how ever recieve a collections notice in the mail. After investigating this I came to the conclusion there is another person with my same name, who does have an outstanding balance with Verizon - 3 states away from where I live. I would suggest to those getting this phone call who does not have a Verizon account look into this more. It was pretty simple to have the issure resolved with Verizon.

- Cleansing413This number has been calling for months. Either a woman's or a man's voice on the machine messages. Never registered on the caller ID, which I found unusual, so I never answered. Finally called it back this afternoon. Took about 20 rings to answer. A man then answered, said, "C.C.O." real quick then put me on hold. I heard three beeps, and he answered again and then asked me how he could help me. I asked what company I just called and he said "C.C.O." again. When I told him I had dialed the wrong number, he suddenly had all my info and asked if it was me. Creeped out, I said no. He said, "they" gave hime my info and he had a check for me. I just told him that wasn't me again and he said that he would have my number removed immediately. That was it.
- Caller: C.C.O.
- PeteWow you guys are lucky- I didn't even get a voicemail. If I had, I would have cursed them out!
I'll just have to harass them back and keep calling them at random hours and beating around the bush on the telephone.- Caller: CCA (on behalf of Verizon)
- DobbieAlways at dinner time, these types of calls seem to come in. I think those of us on VoIP are perhaps more vulnerable. I've learned from these threads that this is a Corrections outfit (convicts) trying to call use our phones. nice......

- Robert GI received a voice mail from 877-611-1815 tonight with no reference to who was calling or what company the person was calling from. The person left a reference # and advised that is was an important business matter and that I must call back tonight. When I called back, the person who answered the phone did not identify the company he worked for when answering. I provided the reference number provided in the voice mail and the person knew who I was and began asking for additional information When I asked him the name of his company he told me CCA and that it was an Accounts Receivable Company and then began asking for my personal information again. I asked again what the nature of the call was, and he advised that it was to protect my credit. I then advised him that I did not believe him. He got angry and said, "If you do not believe me then just let it affect your credit, good night!" and he hung up. Needless to say after reading all of these posts, I can see that I was correct.

- Dobbie52OH, so this is a COLLECTION agency for Verizon. That figures. I have had problems with Verizon now for many months, stemming from my cancellation of my DSL account after months of appalingly bad DSL service. Instead of just shutting down DSL, they closed the entire account leaving me ( a parially diabled woman) without a phone.
Of course, wanted payment in full, after adding charges for calling plans they sold me and I opted out of because of an additionl $56.00 added to my bill.
I wrote to the BBB explaining just how unethically the company dealth with me and how the screwed me. I also told them I could only make small monthly paymets; Social Security is my only "income."
A few weeks later, a very nice woman from their Customer Financial Service Dept. called, apologized and said small monthly payments were just fine.
I'll call her Monday and tell her about this. I've also reported CCA to the FCC for this nonsense. If they call again, they'll get a very large piece of my mind -- free of charge.- Caller: not listed
- Cooter6264What is up with these people. They always call my cell phone (which I do not know how they even have that number) Won't leave voice mail messages, I just keep calling back and they tell me know one from there called. Then an hour later another call from the same number. Answer it and it is an automated systems saying to call them back with an important message...I do not have time to play their games. I do not know who they are or what they want. How can I make them stop calling?
- Dobbie52Two calls from this number within two hours of each other came today. In the first call, they managed to usurp my anonymous call rejection protocol, but left their number in the robo-message.
The second call came roughly two hours later from "not provided" as their ID, but the number showed up.
This is a collection agency for Verizon. I have informed their "Customer Financial Services Rep" that since I have been making my payments as we discussed, they have no business calling me. She told me the payments presented late.
I then told her that was far as my bank was concerned, they were paid out within two business days of my setting them up and that I have no control over THEIR billing department.
It should be noted that their collection agency NEVER PROPERLY IDENTIFIES WHO THEY ARE. I am certain this is a violation of the Fair Credit collection laws.- Call type: Debt collector
