Like others I have had trouble ending my bills and contracts with Verizon and have since paid them in full, however this is odd that I am now receiving collection calls.  I think the message they leave with a certain number which is referred to as a reference # and then is referred to as an account #????. They phoned me twice today and left messages which although voice mechanically recorded and quite rude and sarcastic to the point that it made me laugh because I couldn't believe how unprofessional they were.  I will not pay these people nor phone them back but Verizon shall get a phone call and shall receive my payoff letter and ensure that they do not continue to call me or bother me any longer....if that doesn't solve it....things shall go from there with me reporting them to others....since they are entirely too bigh to take care of themselves any longer.....pathetic Verizon....I will never have any account with their monopoly ever again.

Got a message from them this morning... recently canceled Verizon home and business lines.  Sounds like there might be some issues and from many of the posts here they are the collection arm for Verizon.  Canceling service with vendors these days isn't a simple process.

i been diealing with cca aka as eocc for over 4 and a half years. when i moved i called all utilites co to turn off services on may 21 verizon did not shut off untill nov now the beeeatch jw coldman exspect me to pay 813,00 . i proved that i did not live there and they will not realease debt. i am giving them 30 days to reply to my debt valadation letter i sent. they are foriegn investered and are not licience . all that are having trouble right to them show them you have rights and check sol if you do right mention that paula says paybacks a bI%#

and by all mean file a complaint with the fcc and take them to small claims court if they are not compling to the rules . you can get trible damages

Began to receive a call from 877-611-1815 in July 2010. A complaint was filed with FTC as my phone number has been published but registered as Do No Call.

After that, another call was received today July 16, 2010. Called them back. This time they did not hang up the phone when questioned: who they are, what is the purpose of the call

They were looking for a different person's name so told: I have been using the same phone number at the same address for more than six years and I am the only one who has been using the phone number.

They responded that they would take off the phone number.

Even some service providers such as VOIP refuse to cancel a service while keeping on charging the monthly service fee regardless of the service cancellation request by an unsatisfied customer.

I am getting calls at 1-877-611-1815 asking for (my neighbor) to collect debt.  They have no business calling me. I do not have any relatives in my town except my mom. We both have no debts. I am on the no calling list. I am not responsible for what goes on in my neighbors household. Please have this number taken off their records. I am tired on getting calls for other folks problems.

This is a scum collection agency like all scum collection agencies. Report this SCUM to your AG, FTC, etc for the rude manner in which these frauds conducts themselves.

Since they are not actually telemarketers they are not bound by the do not call list, but they are supposed to stop calling as soon as you say that it is a wrong number according to the collection laws.

If it was a cell phone, Anna C Hicks probably had the phone number before you.  This is a collection company and once you tell them that the cell phone is a wrong number they are generally supposed to stop.  Cell phone companies don't want collection companies to bother their paying customers.

The collection company can actually call anyone to find you, but they cant disclose information about your debt

If this was a scam wouldnt they have answered you?  Its probably a bill you didn't want to pay.

So the person refused to give you any information, and did not request any payment?  I don't know what kind of scam you run, but they generally involve getting paid or information.  What kind of minority was it?  That could be anything.  A minority among the people you know is someone who can read and write.

Thank you for your post.........same thing happened to me with Verizon.  They have the worst online system of anyone.  Then they cancel your account before you can pay your final bill.  Have to get on the phone and listen to everyone in every department say they have no record of your account.  They don't deserve the final payment.  Now I'm getting calls from this 877 #.

third call from EOCCA, which I googled and it is a collection agency. I don't owe anyone any money! I try to call back.....it rings and rings and then goes to a hang up beeping noise-no one ever answers the phone????????

Like others, I had trouble terminating my Verizon accounts and apparently got referred to this agency for "pre-collection debts" This is the second time I've experienced this treatment with verizon, the first time this happened was last year when I switched wireless providers to get an iPhone, and the second time was this year when I switched internet and phone providers because verizon's DSL services suck.  My parents were about to switch to fios, but are now reconsidering that, because of the way verizon treats their customers! I called the number back and payed the $76, now I'm kind of regretting that, but I just wanted them to stop calling me!
