It's a scam. As stated, third party providers stole Dell information and they are cold-calling with these lame lines, basically to hook you in and give them money.  So far, I've recorded this particular scam coming from this number 877.790.3355 (notice the last four of 3355 is a known good last four for Dell - but i think Dell may be abandoning those digits as a result).  I've also recorded the same scam using the following originating phone numbers:
    706.452.5550
    800.425.2067
    408.216.7460
    404.537.2263
    914.810.8563
    000.000.0000
    408.216.7480
    631.808.6860
If you suspect that you are being scammed, record the information and hang up.  Find a current and valid phone number for Dell support and initiate the call yourself TO Dell.  They will be able to tell you if they reached out to you (and in most cases, they did not).  They keep rotating numbers and will continue to call you once they've gotten your information.  I have been dealing with it for well over a year and have probably received 50 calls from them.  I screen all calls now and use scam blocking apps to block known scam numbers on my phone.
You can report it through the FTC as mentioned above.  You can also provide the information to Dell.  They have a complaint intake form for these scams at the following address: https://www.dell.com/support/incidents-online/us/en/19/reportphonescam

For three years, I have had one phishing event after another from "Dell" - and I have for the same amount of years attempted to contact Dell Security regarding these hundreds of calls. DELL REFUSES TO ANSWER. I would like to hear from you who and from what number did your comment "...The real Dell told me..." so that we can possibly get a bunch of people to hammer on them. Dell was hacked some three or four or so years ago, and the calls that came to me had all the information that only myself and Dell knew. Dell is, in my opinion, complicit - either directly or indirectly (I prefer to think the latter)- in knowing of the hack, knowing of the on-going attacks on their customers, and not having an honest discussion with the customer base on this.

This is a valid Dell.com number.  I have had my computer serviced by Dell and I called Dell personally and a tech support person helped me and this was my call  back number, for both of my issues with my computer. But yes they should have a number to reference by when they call you.

Pretends to be Dell Tech Support wanting access to your computer.  This is one of many numbers they use.  Dell DOES NOT call you! Do not answer these calls.  If you do make the mistake of answering, ask them for the last known confirmation number that was used when you contacted Dell Support.  They won't be able to provide it.

Adding - I just called them, the number is for Dell, but they say they are not calling. I looked and I have a call from this # on 2/2, 2/7, 2/10, 3/16, and 5/2. I have added them to my auto reject list, yet it still gets through. Dell gave me a web address to report it to, but of course, the page cannot be found. Is there anything we can do?

Yet another call from this number again today.Persistent  _ _ _ starts!  Told them to take leap at a rolling donut they don't get it. Hung up they called right back so they got a marine survival whistle in the ear. Hope there is a burst eardrum somewhere. Talking gibberish hangs them up. They now somehow have access to service request numbers too. So don't don't rely on that as proof of identity. They are smooth crooks. Shipping dates, order dates, dates of phone calls, service tag, and now request numbers are no longer effective screening tools. Inside job hmmmmm???

Said my Dell computer had deactivated critical firewalls/protection on my Dell (he knew the model) and said my warranty needed to be renewed. Wanted control of computer remotely.  I asked him if he had my contact email address registered with Dell. He read it to me and it was correct!!! I said, "FINE."  Send me an EMAIL explaining what was wrong with my computer and a Tech phone number at Dell for me to respond to the "repair." Still waiting for the email 8 hours later.

First they would call me repeatedly saying they were from Dell and I repeatedly said not to. Now the same number called with an indian accent to say he is Blake O'Connor with the IRS and that I have a case against me for tax fraud. These people are ridiculous.

Should add that I have this number saved in my phone now and when I answered I said, "If you say you are from Dell, stop calling me" and that is when he went on about the irs tax fraid and asked if I have a criminal attorney to respresent me. I hung up when he said that.

Scam calls! I've been receiving scam calls ever since i called Dell Support to provide service to my PC. The technician advised me that their customer databases are hacked. So these scammers have access to all of your PC information such Model number, service tag, you name it! They even take it a step further to use 'automated" Dell support numbers to contact you via the internet. I called one back and come to find out they were contacting me via Google voice! I've blocked over 20 numbers since 2016. Just note Dell or any service will not call you to tell you that there's an issue with your PC, or that they are receiving messages from your PC - that doesn't make sense. If you have an issue, you should be contacting them directly. That's the first sign of the scam....

Why do you answer calls from numbers you do not know?  That's what voicemail is for.  If they don't leave a voicemail, guess what?  It wasn't a real call.  Why do you engage these people at all?  And quit whining about the DNC list...please.  Technology allows these folks to call from anywhere on the planet and look local.  Why do you assume that the threat of the FCC is really going to stop them?  These callers aren't the problem, you are.  Don't answer, and you don't have a problem, and you don't get scammed.

Caller ID shows "800 Service".  Internet search shows that the number 877-790-3355 is the Dell Conceirge but is it obviously NOT Dell calling.  This is a scam and the caller is spoofing a legitimate Dell number.  Do not answer these calls.

Caller claimed he was from Dell, was doing follow up on my Dell laptop which I haven't owned in over two years. That meant he probably had old information hacked or stolen and was not from Dell. Personally I never engage in any phone communications anymore with any PC maker. I setup a chat session directly from the PC makers web site and if needed provide a number to them to call me. Anyone who calls you that you have not requested is a scam.

Received another one from them even though I had told them I no longer have a Dell.
I've just spoken with Dell and they told me what I knew, it's a scam, not them. While I spoke with him, he asked for permission to file a complaint with the FTC & gave me a number to call if/when another call is received from them. FTC#-877-383-4357. He was adamant about not falling for their money scam & under no circumstances ever give anyone access to your computer. I don't & never will. Be ware!!!

Well I'm not sure who the FDC is, but how do you know they haven't been reported?  Also, as long as we are on the subject, did you take the time to report them, or were you expecting someone else to do it for you?
