- George| 38 repliesfascinating call... I don't believe them but they said they were Dell Tech Support with a courtesy call prior to my warranty running out. They gave me a valid service tag number and when I told them I was an IT Manager and that I didn't believe the call was real he didn't flinch. I told him I have over 100 computers and I need some time to look up the information and he said he would call back in 20 minutes. I still don't believe it is real however when doing a lookup on the phone number it shows a legit Dell website "concierge service". I STILL don't believe it is legit but damn they are getting good at spear phishing!

- Trisha replies to George| 1 replyI have gotten the same exact call 3 times this week and tell them to call back later. My current Dell did have an extended warranty on the hardware (due to some issues close to original warranty expiration). No, he said, this is a software warranty that will expire in a few days. I do have ATT connect tech service and used them recently and this guy seemed to know my issues. Thought maybe ATT has an employee who has taken my info. I do agree with you, they are very good at what they do.
- Jennie| 2 repliesPositive it is not actually Dell even though they knew my service tag #. Called Dell, they confirmed.

- KelliI have gotten many calls from at least a dozen numbers claiming to e Dell Tech Support. They generally tell me that i recently inadvertently downloaded some spyware. I usually cut them off & call them out, at which point they hang up. I called one of the numbers back one time, and it was a Whirlpool product service number.

- Annie replies to George| 9 repliesThese calls, phishing, originate in the Dell Call Center in India. I can not prove it, but I have it on the word of friends working their in New Delhi. When you have an honest transaction thru Dell Technical Service, some rogue computer technical support persons cop your information so they can do these scam phone calls. They will tell you all sorts of problem issues, say your computer notified them it's refusing some critical updates, etc. Then their goal is to get you to give them control of your computer. Believe me, it will be a real mess when they are finished, PLUS, you will have potentially dangerous maleware installed which allows them to go through your files. To top it off, their main goal is to CHARGE YOU MONEY to "fix" your computer. With the malware installed they figure you are good for several more calls to "fix" it. Your private information will be at risk: One even tried to get control of my computer by telling me, for validation, he was calling from Allegheny. Idiot, that is not a town, it's a county in PA. and that was only on my Ancestry account On My Computer! I've reported this to FTA, but it's so wide spread and rampant, nothing has been done to stop it IN YEARS. I informed Dell corp. hdq. in Texas, again, brick wall. Be your own guard. Do Not Speak With Them!!
- Annie replies to Annie| 5 repliesOne thing I think we all share in common: at one time or another we've all had to phone the actual Dell Call Center for technical assistance, or setting up a new computer. Right?
- Ray| 2 repliesScam useing a spoof number report them to the police.
- Annie replies to RayReport this scam to the Federal Trade Commission. You can get the contact info from Google. I did, and received a response informing me of this being a very long running scam that they have been unable to stop. Really???? And Dell Corporation Headquarters in Texas sent me a generic reply, but on FaceBook when I posted this info, someone from there posted , "Dell NEVER phones anyone about any issues. If contact is necessary you will receive a LETTER ".....so they are aware and know it's been very long ongoing, but don't stop it. I guess with so many people in New Delhi Call Center working right out of college, then moving on to other jobs, their turn-over is too great to keep up with who has what information. I won't use their techs again. I use a local shop in my town. Quick, cheap, and safe.
- hmchCalled three times in 10 minutes. First two times no number visible. Then the number listed in this thread. First time I told the guy with an Indian accent that he is full of s???t. Asked him if he could hear me since he always asks me this question. He hung up. Called two more times . Did not answer. Kept saying HELLO multiple times on the answering machine. Finally hung. Call me again. Unplunging my phone. My daughter was here to witness the initial call. What a bunch of thieves!!!

- 7teresa0 replies to George| 1 replyI got scammed by the same Dell call. They are good. I have used Dell for many years. The real Dell told me to ask the caller what their last ID number that they gave you the last time you interacted with the real Dell. Dell says that if they don't have that number it isn't the real dell.
- 7teresa0| 2 repliesCalled saying they were from Dell Computer. I have used Dell for many years with no problem. This caller asked if I had been having any problems with my computer. They had my Serial Number. Asked if they could get in my computer as they were showing on their end that I had some system warnings. Trusting that I am I said yes. Tried to get $300. out of me. Showed me all this stuff on my computer that was a problem. There were 400 in all. All in all it was a scam. The real Dell said if I got another call all I had to do was ask for my last case number. If they had the correct number it was really Dell. Dell had me call Federal Trade Commission and report. Here is FTC #1-877-382-4357.

- dee| 1 replyScam, is not really Dell, but a scammer from India trying to get into your computer and steal your information.
- Caller: SCAM
- B-EdwardsShowed on my CID as "800 Service" and then the number. Recognized the number as Dell, so I did pickup the call. I do have a couple of their units, but none in use now, so when the bozo started with the "errors of you Dell computer being received", I laughed and hung up. Came here to notes and see that indeed, this is an active spoof project for the old windows scammers.

They had all my Dell info and said it was "to optimize my computer". I told them I had Dell set to automatic updates. Sever is not down and yes, I have had to call Dell support before.
