These people say please call back, blah, blah, blah. I think some of these so called companys are bogus. Especially the ones that never quit calling.I got a "notice" in the mail not long ago which said that they bought the debt from another collection agency. I never heard of the client. NO WONDER OUR ECONOMY IS IN THE SHAPE ITS IN!Buying an already so called bad debt. Thats plain STUPID! Thats why I think there bogus. Be careful out there.

What I found out was this.  If you do NOT respond in any manner, even if someone has an old debt that is say, 5 or 10 years old...as long as you don't respond, they can't do anything about it, because as others have mentioned, the Statute of Limitations has long run out.  HOWEVER, and this is important, do NOT admit to the debt, do NOT talk to these people.  Even if you say, "well, I don't know, that was a long time ago", this is the same as backhandedly admitting to the debt and these crooks can say you DID admit to the debt and they will start the "debt" timeframe all over again, from the time and day of THAT phone call, so don't EVER respond to these people.  THE BEST RESPONSE is NO RESPONSE...they will eventually get tired of trying. Get call answering and just don't ever respond to them.

1-877-803-0008, orginally woman answered as "andrea" (an automated computer system voice enhanced software) when called back it was Ms. Bradshaw that answered.  She has 9 open accounts but could not say what accounts they were.  Sounds like she is playing with a pandora's box in the phone system.  You better watch who's box you are playing with Bradshaw.

IT appears to me reading responces last week regarding this matter that BRADSHAW is concocting accusations where no substance exist. Clearly the concern is BRADSHAWS hiring practices. If true that is most inappropriate. Creating positions for friends and in one instance assingning one friend 3 cars?, Certainly misuse of public funds, you Mr Bradshaw know firsthand what is inappropriate, YOU patice it.Abuse of office, misuse of public funds, and more. Perhaps someone needs to file a complaint with the States Atty. Office regarding you. If you had exercised any comunicatve or management skills this issue would be nonexistent.

This company - Portfolio Recovery Associates - is being sued by several attorneys general in the U.S.  They buy pools of "alleged debt " and try to collect by any weans possible (legal or otherwise) - like calling on Sunday mornings and threatening to damage your credit standing.  They claim to use Experian.

got a call today about 5 times today(started a month ago), finally answered one of their calls and a woman who never gave her name, calling about my deceased mother(who they didnt know was deceased) and asked for a copy of her death certificate never gave any reasons nor did i inquire about debt or other possibilities, she identified herself to be the company portfolio recovery associates, the woman also asked who was heading my mothers estate and afaires it was a softcall could barely understand her which i did not give any information on.

also been getting calls from other numbers but i didnt answer them and no message was left.

Portfolio Recovery is driving me nuts.  I get their calls at least every other day, sometimes twice a day.  There are several different numbers that show up on my caller I-D.  I never answer, just let them go to Voice Mail.  Sometimes static, usually female recording, never says who the call is for.  Often times kicks in mid message.

There is nothing on my credit reports and my rating is 800+.  Afraid that if I contact them to say cease and desist that they will really come after me.
