- Caller: Amazon
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- RCuruLeft a voicemail about a $750 charge from El Salvador on my Amazon Prime account and said to call Amazon immediately. Voice was obviously computer generated. I had the free 30 day trial that Amazon took it upon themselves to sign me up for when I recently placed an order, then required me to take steps to cancel before the monthly charges started appearing on my card. I cancelled it a couple of days ago. I'm sure if there was a fraudulent charge on my card I would be getting a call from my bank, not Amazon.

- ProbCalled before 7:30 a.m. No message left. Others here say it is an Amazon.com number, but I haven't ordered from them in a couple months, so this was a spoofed number and attempted scam. Better luck next time, jerks.

- Computer EngineerI have recieved repeated calls that APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM AMAZON 1-888-280-4331 is Amazon's customer service number. It's an automated call saying an order was placed on my account from El Salvador and to press 1 to reach security. When the SUPPOSED security person answered, within a couple minutes of the conversation, I could tell this was a scam and they had spoofed the Amazon customer service number. After asking a couple questions the FAKE security guy couldn't answer, I informed him I was a computer engineer that works in a high security data center - at which point he promptly hung up. I called Amazon and reported the incident AND I emailed Amazon and reported the incident because while someone in IT may immediately spot this as a scam, someone like my mom or even my neighbors and friends would probably be fooled. I told Amazon they should proactively send out a warning email or put a message on their site, but it's been 24 hours and I haven't seen anything. If this scam ends up affecting a significant number of customers and their accounts are breeched, I will definitely let the news outlets know Amazon was warned. I saved the two emails I sent and also the response email I recieved from them after the call.

- IllinoisNo ID on the phone but the number shown is the supposed customer service number for Amazon. Not a human on the phone but a recording stating that there has been a charge on my account for $750.00 and I should press 1 if I did not authorize this charge. I looked into my Amazon account and there has been no activity. This is a scam.

- DaveThis is an actual Amazon number that was hijacked by scammers. A Recording claimed that my account was charged $866 for a "Microsoft purchase out of Texas" (no charge was actually made).
- ConcertnancerSomething about pressing “1” to talk with a customer care executive.
- scam haterOn this occasion the CID was "V12503342800017" which is a format/id commonly seen on numbers that have been hacked/spoofed by folks in India, China, etc. where doing this kind of phishing scam is highly encouraged. In this case they claimed to have processed my "purchase" of an Amazon Prime membership for some $121 and change. Then they say something like "If you didn't ask for this transaction, please dial '1' to talk to an account executive. I have no idea what happens if you "dial 1" because I've seen too many of these scams, including others from this same phone number. Strongly suggest not calling them back or dialing "1"!!!

- JonToday 29 Jan. 2020 got an automated call verifying had I made a recent Amazon Prime purchase for $100+. Instructed to push 1 if I had not I think it said. Then a male with Indian voice, from Indian call center etc., comes on the line, said a "John Wick" in "Ohio" (I live in California) had made this purchase. Then caller wants to verify something by my going to Windows button on lower left keyboard and typing in www.fastsupport (followed by about 8 digits). Then to hit "Run". I told him nothing happened, he seemed disappointed. Then he lamely tried to verify who he was, gave phone umber 888-280-4331. Which I checked online while he was still on the line, and I saw it was linked to scammers. Quickly I became highly suspicious and when I became too suspicious he promptly hung up. Just another Indian call center scammer. I hope he didn't gain access to my computer.
