This scam also reaches you via an official looking Amazon email  telling you there has been a security issue with your Amazon account. If you tsp the link your call will end up reaching a scammer.  The number they hope you call is actually the real Amazon customer service number, however, if you tap the nbr it redirects you to a scammer.  In other words the number they show is disguising the number actually being dialed.
This scam may affect older ppl not tech savvy. These pple are scum.

Got called just before putting my phone on airplane mode, ignored it.  Got a two-second VM of dead air when I listened to it a short time ago.  I don't buy from Amazon for various reasons so this is definitely a scam call.

Message left was, "one. Thank you"  So it is a robo-caller getting past a block to leave a message. Likely a scammer.

Although this is a number belonging to Amazon Customer Service, it is being spoofed by scammers.

A robocall purporting to be from this number left a message advising me about something that had supposedly been ordered on my account, etc.  I hadn't answered the call because it was blocked by Google's Call Screen; however, I did see the transcription of the incoming call.

I was curious, because it was a known Amazon number, why it had been automatically blocked and flagged, so I started doing a little research.  I knew I hadn't ordered a thing on the day in question, nor had I been charged for anything on that date.  Obviously, the robocaller was spoofing Amazon's number.

Coincidentally, I had received a call from Amazon just a couple of days earlier, but I had requested that call from Customer Service and when it came in it showed up as a short-code number, not the call-in number for Amazon.

I called 888-280-4331 thinking I was calling Amazon to check on an order.  I asked the woman who answered if this was Cust. Service. She said before she transferred me I was the lucky recipient of a free prize.  She said I had won a totally free Emergency Alert button.  Because I said I was over 50, she said everyone over that age has a great chance of falling. When I said I wasn't interested she just kept repeating the "free-free information.  I finally told her to transfer me to Cust. Service and she said she would but there was a clicking sound and the same woman's voice answered.  BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART; THE FIRST THING EACH VOICE ASKED WAS "CAN YOU HEAR ME"?  I STUPIDLY SAID YES.  THE SECOND VOICE STARTED THE SPIEL ABOUT MY FREE EMERGENCY ALERT BUTTON.  i JUST HUNG UP

    Tired of Spam Calls
This number just called and they did leave a message.  The CID says Amazon but when I checked on Comcast phone calls it says PRIVATE.  I was not on Amazon today at all.  The message left says, "You are now a Prime member of Amazon.com. If you have not made a transaction kindly talk to our Customer Care Executive by pressing 1.  Thank you."  I have made many purchases in the past and nobody from Amazon has ever called me.

Called my landline 15:45 today claiming they were Amazon (i.d. read that too). Said someone purchased two pairs of Nike shoes. I said no, not me. He acted surprised and oh hold on I will put that "order on hold." Looking on my Amazon page informed him there was no such order. He said he needed to sign in and gain access to my computer. Told him I have my peeps there I'll call one of them and he hung up on me. Beware, they can spoof legit numbers!

I've received two calls this afternoon from this number with a voice mail stating that my Amazon account has been charged $750 - I haven't ordered any thing from Amazon in the last month.  This is a scam.

Called and said it was Amazon. I asked why they would call my landline number when it’s not connected to my account. He hung up. Yeah that’s a scammer.

I had a voice mail from this number.  The message quoted the same amount.
As you said, this phone number  is a service number for Amazon. But, the thing is: Amazon doesn't call you. You call them at that number.

I received this call from someone claiming to be from Amazon to talk about my account.  It was similar to an email I got earlier in the day.  In the email they claimed someone purchased an iPhone X & wanted me to confirm my account info.  I deleted the email without giving my info.  Then I went online to my Amazon account to check if there was a purchase.  There was no iPhone purchased.  Beware of scams!!

Call from Amazon stated an order was placed for $749.00. I said I’ve ordered nothing from them. To cancel the transaction they needed me to download their app to be refunded. They had my address but said the order was coming from Ohio and not my NJ address.,Suspecting fraud I then hung up and called my bank.
