    Truth?
Does anyone know exactly what these jokers can do?

Several calls.  Stressed enough with current situation and they state instructed to collect full amount.  Someone in an earlier post stated that most people intent to pay but find themselves in situations not known at time of debt.  That is certainly true.  Believe Most intend to pay debt or start paying back when back on track in few months or so...no intent to stiff anybody.  No way of paying anything right now!

What is this in earlier posts I see mention of legal action?  What can they legally do?  What is the worse case scenario? Is there a site that someone can direct me to that would outline their options legally and what typically happens?

This company is legit as I had a call and was able to reach them to find out what the issue was. In my case I owed $90 to Bell but forgot about it. I did not get a hard time from them because I took care of my debt immediately. The only hassle was having to go to a particular bank to pay the bill (could not just pay over the phone with a credit card). I had a pleasant call back from one of their agents along with a letter stating that there was no damage done to my credit because I paid MY bill. It was never my intention to not pay my bills in the first place but sometimes we "F" up.
So, for those of you that decide not to pay your bills and continue to recieve these calls, my advice is to pay your bills and that should end the calls. I totally understand the fustration of recieving these calls when you have no outstanding bills - that would "tee" me off too!

I got a call from DNA Corporation last tuesday regarding a urgent business matter didn't leave a name but left me their ext number 6249 and it was a female voice and a number to reach them at 1-888-395-1147. They didn't even say what exactly it was about so how do I know what its about? I'm hesitant to call them back. What should I do.

First off...no one is obligated to call anyone back just because they demand it in a voicemail....especially if they don't bother to leave enough info for you to know what the call is about....and yes that is an issue for companies calling due to Privacy Acts.

If you do decide to call back to inquire what it is about...know your rights first and be prepared to ask them the right questions.  Don't give out any personal info or answer questions.  How do you know they are ligit?  Why would you share info over the phone without formally validating that they have the "right" to contact you etc?  If you had an arrangement with a Company (e.g. credit card or bank) and you have fallen behind and they are calling to collect or something...did you ever give the right to the company you had the agreement/debt with to share your info with anyone...including a collection agency???  Ask for written proof that you signed something because if the company you had arrangement with did share personal info on you...there are privacy laws!

There is an earlier post that has a link on your rights etc...read that and be as informed as possible before deciding to return the calls. Search the internet for other info re rights in Canada etc or consult a Lawyer. If you do call...DO NOT let them bully you etc

    Truth?
Received calls for awhile and then finally talked to them...asked them for some info and they didn't provide. Didn't provide answers to any of their questions as really not their business and why would I provide info to anyone just because they called.  In otherwords, didn't cooperate according to their expectations.

Phone calls stopped.  Not sure if these people are legite and if so, what the next steps are if any....expected continued calls but they didn't.

Had great payment history with bills etc but now (and hopefully temporary) fell on unforeseen and bad times so can't catch up at least right now.  Could not pay even if got demand to pay in full much less part.  No options so will see when I hear from them again...anyone know what I should expect next?

If you get such a call ...internet is power and it provides lots of knowledge!  Search first...find out who is calling and know your rights! Did call back awhile ago after several calls...took control of the call and asked them to "prove" who their company was via REGISTERED MAIL (every collection agency must be registered in Canada)...also said I am of the understanding that "EVERY" collection agency must be licensed...asked for them to send a copy of picture id with the license authorizing them to contact me.  Also, they were asking personal info like do I owe this or that, am I working, etc...I answered that is personal information since I really don't know who is calling not prepared to answer....they suggested I was not cooperating and I said  something to the effect "what do you mean"...not cooperating is not following your lead and answering your questions???  They finally concluded this was a waste of time...I confirmed I would not deal with them on an issue and they needed to have the company contact me themselves! At one point they seemed quite agitated!  Anyway...long story short...no more calls.  I guess I will wait for mail etc to see what happens next!..Should note it is your tone/attitude that will have impact on the effect of your conversation....be firm/authoritative voice...similar to most collection agencies. Also, asked them to prove the company I have contract with has authorization to "share" my confidential info with a collection agency...don't remember signing anything on that.  If not, the company I have direct contract with is violating "privacy laws".

    # from 1 905-507-8889

Asked for me on the phone as I picked up and they sounded VERY malicious/scammer like. A lady from DA or DNA Corporation  tried to confirm my  dob/address and I didn't cooporate - lucky for me. I said first I would have to know who is calling and what is it for and they wouldn't tell me

Sounds like a big time SCAM

get calls from another number referring me to call this number posted.  From D and A.  Calls started coming right after christmas for some Roseanne chick.  Im not her.  Called to tell them this but got a busy signal.  call 4 times a day.  But it's only to my cell.  The message they leave is usually a guy saying that it's critical to call something about some lender has taken action.  Then some chick called today left same message different numbers, different extension and different account number.  After that I got an automated message saying that this Roseanne is now in default and to call them back asap.

    Inquiring Mind replies to kennybigrig
Some people are not knowledgable on how to deal with people who behave as rudely and disrespectful as the many posts on this site.  Others just don't seem to have the personality or tanacity to deal with them. They allow these type of people to upset them.

If you don't know how to deal with them or not comfortable dealing with their tactics and they upset you, then get call display and don't answser the call to "unknown", "private", the numbers on this site 888-395-1147, 905 etc  In fact why answer to any number you don't know.  Let them keep calling no matter how many times a day.  If you have a "call block" feature put the numbers you don't want coming through on call block, if your phone service provider has the feature to "not allow private or unknown numbers" come through, subscribe to that feature.  If it is a cell phone they are calling, put it on vibrate so that the constant calls are not so annoying. If you look at your cell when it rings and realize it is them or a number you are not going to answer, there is a button on most cell phones that instantly stops the ringing so you don't have to listen to it.  If they leave you a message, as you start listening to your messages, as soon as you realize it is them "delete" and do not listen to the rest of the call.  Bottom line is, if you are not wanting to deal with them that is an individual choice.  I would never keep answering a phone to the type of behavior as described in your earlier posts.  Let them call for the next 2 years, who cares if you are going about your business and not answering calls/returning calls or more importantly letting them bother you or get under your skin.

As long as people like this are getting a reaction or response they will continue the harrassment.  Ignore them and then it becomes their problem not yours.  I understand that collection agencies get a % of all money they collect.  Whether you owe money or not (if your one of the calls I have read about that they are calling and harassing and got wrong person, sooner or later they will realize it is wasting their time and there is no $$ to be had by contacting you.  It may take more time than you would like for them to catch on and stop calling as it appears from the messages posted on this site and their behaviors etc, they are a few bricks short of a full load.

They are only relentless to people who fall for their tactics...male or female!
They are on a commission type basis...they get a portion of what is collected.  My understanding, depending on how long the debt is outstanding and how the debtor has responded or not, depends on % they can collect.  My understanding as high as 50% of debt payoff.

DO NOT answer any of their questions re personal info e.g. are you working, what assets do you have.  Non of their business!  Take control, ask them to mail you the "registration of company they are respresenting and license".  Ask them to mail you their personal registration as it is  your understanding that people working for collections agencies need to be a "registered agent" so please mail copy of identification etc.  DO NOT answer any questions..why would you answer questions of someone calling you on the phone requesting/demainding information and you really don't know who they are or that they have the legal right to contact you much less demand info from you etc!

Why would you deal with anyone but the company you have a debt with!  Make them prove (by your signature on a document) that they have the right to represent the company they are calling on behalf!

Bottom line...if they think they are rattling you or getting to you...they will continue to call/hound you.  Once they realize that the potential of getting info or $$ out of you is highly unlikely, they will move onto the next person to try and intimidate them. No value in wasting time on someone who is not going to cave to their tactics!  Take control...if you owe money and circumstances don't allow you to pay etc, don't sweat it, take control...if you can't handle their constant calls then don't answer them and sooner or later they will realize they are not able to collect from you and will minimize their contact...nothing in it for them $$! Remember, they are not educated or logical people making these calls..the only job they can get due to lack of education and well, not logical or rational people.  People who work at MacDonald's have more sound knowledge and experience than they do!  SO, it may take them  awhile to catch on so that will mean continued phone calls for at least awhile!

These people are annoying and dumb.  One guy by name Jade left a message on my phone and I wasted one hour trying to reach him back last nite.
This morning I spoke to him and discovered that they just look for any close match to a name and they start to call around.
