Probable cause? Key primary element for questioning?  If it weren't for the fact that these crooks often succeed in fooling their victims with this meaningless legalese jibberish, it would qualify as comedy.

I suggest you "move the situation forward to the law" by reporting the "callee" to federal and state law enforcement. See my message earlier this thread from from July 2 for details and links to law enforcement.

I paid them and I just got my money back....my bank spoke with them, my attorney spoke with them and finally VISA got a hold of them and I got all my money back....I knew I had paid my debts, but these people use scare tactics and make u thnk they are on the way to get you!!! I fell for it without even taking the time to get my thoughts together...that's how they work!! If you stop and do the research...you will find their "office" is in a empty warehouse in Moncks SC.....they are FRAUDS!!!!!!

Have recieved several calls on my cell phone from 888-441-4001, extension #4033. The guy said it was Winston Law Firm, "Your name has come up in a very serious matter. You or your lawyer of record must call this number to avoid further action".
On other calls it was a woman that I could barely understand what she was saying! I have not returned the calls.
Does anyone know if you can block these harrassing calls?

I fell victim to this scam, for, as I see others in this thread have, the same amount of $722.20.  I wish I had some recourse for this action other than to open an investigation with Bank of America and to file a complaint with the Florida Attorney General.  Thanks.

I answered my door today to find my mother crying, hyperventilating, and holding her chest while notifying me that a "Veronica Masters" had called my parents' house, telling my mother that I was going to be "apprehended within one hour" if I did not return the call to her company. She further notified my mother that I owe money to her company and that I am in "big trouble."  I returned the call in order to assist to calm my mother who has various health conditions. I spoke with a woman who called herself "Veronica Masters" who repeatedly threatened me with criminal action if I did not pay her company $722 today. She stated that I should "get ready" and "prepare my family" because I was going to be "punished" today. She also stated that she would "be there soon." (I think she was speaking of my home). Also, she stated that I will "lose" my "RN license." Furthermore, she mentioned a few names of people I know, stating that they will be required to "testify against" me. After the phone call, I did some research online to find that this company has been harrassing many other individuals.

I can confirm for all of you that the Bank of America account that they have had me and several others transfer funds into IS a South Carolina account... however, Spellman & Roman have their address with BoA as 5859 Moncrief Rd, Jacksonville, FL - shocking, I know.  Further, the BoA account I transferred to was opened by a 22 year old... with one Frank Jackson as a co-signer.  The account only has counter credits, withdrawals, and checks to a Michael McCormack and Shawnda Brock coming from it.  Hope these names will be helpful in further legal matters.

you are right this is a scam and they charging you alot of money to suport frank jackson habits. frank and evelyn are husband and wife. evelyn is the one who started the business and frank took over but anyway frank jackson is nothing but a controlling freak that like to get his way. i tell you one thing that bussiness is not going to prosper long. frank needs to appreciate the workers and not beat on them. spellman and roman is a fake and all the employees use fake names. they tell the people that they are going to be apprehended for bad checks and stolen funds. they are in jacksonville, fl and the company in sc is a empty building. they ofice is over by the norwood flea market. you know that frank is using his employees to do his dirty work. frank make all that money and he buys cars and hoes.frank this goes out to you your ex-employee. Evelyn and Frank Jackson are the Bonnie & Clyde of debt collection scammers. Apparently in cahoots with fellow Jacksonville debt collection scammer Ted Ellis Crosby, they've run the same scam under many front names: Jackson & Phillips, Bass Prelitigation (which is currently being sued by the Florida Attorney General), States Predisposition, Spellman & Roman, Law Offices of Veronica Masters, Winston Law and many others.

They falsely represent their scam as being based in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia but, as you noted, all roads lead back to Florida.

The Florida Attorney General is currently suing the Jacksons and their Bass scam for over about $1.3 million, seeking to shutdown Bass and seeking to ban the Jacksons from ever engaging in debt collections in Florida.  So if you haven't done so already, please consider reporting all this information to the Florida Attorney General. You file a complaint online at Report all the same information to Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum at http://myfloridalegal.com/contact.nsf/contact?Open&Section=Attorney_General

You may also want to file a complaint with these other federal and state law enforcement agencies:

1) The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.

2) This is interstate crime and it may constitute wire fraud because it was largely perpetrated via the telephone, which is a federally regulated utility. So you can alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov 

3) Though Spellman & Roman isn't really based in South Carolina, the scam is registered in South Carolina as a limited liability company. So you can also file a complaint with the South Carolina Attorney General at http://www.scconsumer.gov/complaint_services.htm  (Frank and Evelyn Jackson pulled this same stunt in Georgia where they incorporated States Predisposition in Georgia even though it was really located in Florida)

4) File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you've been targeted by an extortionist.

5) File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.naag.org

6) File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en

"Taking advantage" is putting it mildly. These are criminals attempting to steal money from their victims and should be reported to law enforcement.

Your are one of the most uneducated-sounding person I have ever had the displeasure of reading. My advise to you is to go to school, get your GED (I'm sure you dropped out), use all the free money the government gives you people for college and educate yourself. You are a dissapointment to your race and the human race.

My wife has rec'd phone calls from "DL Marketing" and the name Delores Miller has come up on several instances in excess of a year now. They refer to an account # and state this case is going before the court in 45 min. and that she needs to come up with $ before it is "just out of there hands" and the "authorities" will locate her and arrest her. As a 12yr. veteran in police work these people are the "scum of the earth." They had my wife in a panic over this and I for one plan to go out of my way to hunt them down using my resources. I like the idea of everyone calling them several times a day, maybe we'll have them running from collectors about their phone bills. These people need to be stopped at every turn. I've contacted the Secret Service, Local Field Office of The FBI and my State Attoney Generals Office, not to mention a buddy of mine who works as a Special Agent for the IRS! This should be fun!!! According to the new policies in place since 911, certain offices of Homeland Security may be interested in this information. I consider these people Terrorists and a threat to my homeland security! What do you think?

Good point about Homeland Security. There are other scams with calls coming from a phone bank in India that appear to be connected to the gang behind the SpellmanRoman/StatesPredisposition/BassPrelitigation scams.

You may want to suggest to your law enforcement pals to start by contacting the Florida Attorney General's Economic Crimes Division regarding their lawsuit against Jacksonville, FL-based Bass Prelitigation, Inc. and its directors, Evelyn & Frank Jackson. You know, we are in the same place.  They have been calling me on my cell.  The question is, how the hell did they get a hold of my cell number when the phone line is not even under my name?  This one call me (Fatima Calloway) stated that she is from Calloway's Law Firm and that I am being investagated by the state of California.  She said, I am a subject in question and that either me or my lawyer contact her office to resolve this matter.  Then wish me good luck.  This morning she called again and told me the whole reason she called.  I had owed money to an online payday loan for $300.00. My checking account got closed and I truely believed that these people had already taken money out of my account, so I didn't think anything of it. Now, 2 yrs. later this law firm is trying to tell me that writing a bad check is a misdemeanor.  That I could get 12 months in jail.  She too, told me to deposit the money into Bank of America or this other place call Aids Cash Express, which I've never heard about.  Then before she hung up she told me that the state is going to come and arrest me at my work within the hour.  I've talked to a lawyer and he said, they're are a bunch of crooks.  Legitimate debt collector does not threaten people with criminal prosecution or impersonate state employees.
