Ive had enough replies to Reality Check
When a person has documentation from their insurance company, or medical provider, that shows all amounts settled, whether by insurance payment, patient payment, or contract adjustment, and a third party collection agency calls - what that agency is doing is ILLEGAL! What they are trying to collect is not a legitimate debt. Unfortunately, what many of us don't realize is that we need to KEEP IN WRITING PROOF OF BILLS SETTLED IN FULL!!! I highly suggest getting IN WRITING from the agency the amount they are trying to collect, and what it's for - date of charge, type of service, etc. Then send your copy of PROOF OF PAID IN FULL to them, the original service provider, and the Better Business Bureau that serves the location of the collection agency. If the agency does not, or refuses to, provide you with proof of the debt, they are just blowing smoke, they know what they are doing is illegal, and you can just tell them to go to Hell-o.

It is a bill collector. It is against the law for them to be calling place of employment!!!  They will try to say anything, but know the law. For these calls can make a person lose their job for receiving personal calls. Tell them that you know the law, you cannot receive personal calls.  Send written notice to them regarding to not call you.  Once you send it by fax, email or mail, they are suppose to cease calling. If not, you are protected under the fair credit act for they will then be harrassing you. Some don't care, but we all have rights. Let's show these scumbags the truth.

I keep getting these phone calls for my Dad in law.  They keep telling us that they have to talk to him.  The man is over 80 years old.  There's days he doesn't even know his own name, for God's sake.  The people are rude & annoying.  We've spoken to them several times about a "bill" they say is outstanding for a visiting nurse Dad had going back 3 years now.  Well we've checked into it, the bill was paid in full the same day we received it, 3 years ago.  We've sent them all the necessary paperwork, did that work, hell no!  They continue to call on a daily basis, sometimes 4 or 5 times a day.  Every time they call I get a different name, Holly, Patty, Randy, so on.  I too sat one day & constantly called them too.  But I blocked my # on my cell before I called them so they had no clue who was calling them.  Every time they answered the phone I would tell them they owed some outrageous amount of money to some bogus hospital for medical procedures.  They were dumb founded.  Had a blast annoying them for a change.  They still call several times a day, I just answer the phone & blow a whistle into their ear so they have a hard time hearing for the rest of the day!

This is a boiler room debt collection agency. Either pay them, if you wish, or don't pick up their calls. Do, however document every call, and if they are violating the Fair Credit Act sue them!

They are trying to rob you. Record the calls, if you can, report them to the police, and DO NOT send them anything.

As far as a collection agency calling you. If a message is left in person or an a machine or voice mail or if they  actually speak to an actual person at the phone number they have on the account they HAVE to wait 3 days before they can call you again. FDCPA regulations.
FDCPA = Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
The FDCPA is a set of laws and guidelines that any and all debt collectors have to go by. The main reason and the actual wording that the Federal Trade Commission uses for these laws are cited

§ 802. Congressional findings and declaration of purpose

    (a) There is abundant evidence of the use of abusive, deceptive, and unfair debt collection practices by many debt collectors. Abusive debt collection practices contribute to
the number of personal bankruptcies, to marital instability,
to the loss of jobs, and to invasions of individual privacy.

    (b) Existing laws and procedures for redressing these injuries
    are inadequate to protect consumers.

    (c) Means other than misrepresentation or other abusive debt
collection practices are available for the effective collection of debts.

    (d) Abusive debt collection practices are carried on to a substantial extent in interstate commerce and through means and instrumentalities of such commerce. Even where
abusive debt collection practices are purely intrastate in
character, they nevertheless directly affect interstate commerce.

    (e) It is the purpose of this title to eliminate abusive debt collection practices by debt collectors, to insure that those debt collectors who refrain from using abusive debt collection practices are not competitively disadvantaged, and to promote consistent State action to protect consumers against debt collection abuses.

Here is the location of the full text. Every state and Every collector has to follow these laws.

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf

Like this person says in this post that I am replying to. They don't have to be sympathetic but empathy is something that will get you a better return rate on your collection practices. I have been in collections for 30 years. I know how to get my numbers up and keep them up.

I have a new phone and I have not given anyone my number..just switch from at&t to straight talk and just received a call from this number. I did not answer it since I had no ideal who it was but it must have been for whoever this number belong to before me..I was really shocked that I was able to find so much on the number on the internet but thought I would see if anything came up. They did not leave a message other then a grunt on voice mail.

RUDE RUDE RUDE  - A call from someone named "Allan"... wanted my information as if I'm stupid enough to just give it to anyone.  He finally hung up on me.  I googled the number and found this page.  Called Revenue Recovery back on the toll-free number.  The receptionist called me "honey", "sugar" and "sweetie" - not very professional either.  Finally spoke to supervisor, Mike Adams, who was civil.  I informed him that I was a Chapter 7 and they've been told that before.  I also informed him that if they contacted me again, I was reporting them as it's illegal to contact someone in Bankruptcy once they've informed the company that is trying to collect the debt.

This company needs some lessons in professionalism, politeness and manners - and apparently, the law.

    Phishing Scam
The number was 888-582-3359. They left a voice mail asking me to call back and said they were a debt collecting agency. How they got my number, I have no idea. I almost laughed because I am not even old enough to have my own bank account. This is obviously a phishing scam. I did not return the call and don't plan to. If they keep calling I'll block the number. You can block up to 5 numbers on the Verizon website for free, and it will last for 90 days. I've done it before and it works.

My mother, who is ill and I take care of all her stuff, has received several calls from this number. They refuse to tell me what they want or even who they are. My mother has both Medicare and Medicade and that takes care of all her bills. So why are they trying to contact her about a bill which should have been paid off already?
On another matter. I made the mistake of trying to get my medicine through the mail (don't ever do that). The medicine was dropped off by UPS at another place and never reached me. I told them that when they finally tracked it down to just send it back to the company because I was going back to the pharmacy. I am still, 6 years later receiving a monthly bill from the through the mail pharmacy for 6.00 for the medicine, which I never received. They have spent over 33.60 trying to collect 6.00 which I do not owe. Do they not realize that they are going deeper into a hole?

...I get these calls constantly and I've found a way to atleast deny them an answer. Here's what I suggest; with a cell phone you can assign a name to the "unknown caller/ unrecognizable caller" such as "col 1" as the name for collections when you're sure these are collectors trying to reach you....they will use a multiple of call numbers so as you determine that they are collectors assign them as "col 2" and so on. Now when you get repeat calls from these numbers in the future you'll know not to answer them....just a suggestion!
