I just called this number (have been getting calls for weeks and just did not answer since I did not recognize the number) and got someone from Capitol One and they had a totally different name than mine linked to my cell phone number.  I have had this phone number for over 5  years.  I think these people who owe debts to Captitol One just choose random numbers to use so they won't get called.
The representative said that they would remove my phone number within 2 business days.

These people call my number a minimum of 6 times a day. They do not leave a message but tie up my answering machine so that it blinks like I have a message. When I come home, I have to listen to all the blank messages just in case it is a message from someone important. When I do answer the phone, they either don't say anything or they turn on music. This is harrasment. I don't owe anyone any money and pay all my bills on time.
I now have turned off my answering machine. I am not going to call their number because that would be encouraging them. I may have my phone taken out and use only my cell #.

I understand they are a collection agency. They are calling for my brother and I don't know why they are calling me. My brother & I live 6 hrs. apart and have not lived in the same household for nearly 20 years. They are calling me under a phone number I have held on my own for 5 years. This has NEVER been my brother's number - Never. How do these collection agencies get the numbers of relatives of the people they are trying to contact? My brother & I have had our share of problems but I would like to believe that he would not give out my number to people especially credit card or loan people. Are these collection agencies that dishonest and heartless that they would harass anyone with a connection to the person they are trying to contact?

Speak for yourself, I owe nothing.

Tired of getting calls all day, everyday. They have the wrong TL. There are many in this area. Wise up and do your job RIGHT. They act like 10 yr old detectives looking for someone.

they are driving me up the wall they call about 8 times a day and i don't even have a creit card with capital one.
when i finally asked the reason for the calls they where looking for an ex employee of my husbands.i hope they don't call back anymore.

I have received nine calls over the last 48 hours from this number. In fact, had it not been for these bozos, I would not be getting any calls at all. Some loser I am, huh?

Once in awhile, I'll pick up only to immediately hang up a split second later. Is there any way someone could come up with a "dump button" for certain calls?

this company called several times asking for someone who does not live at our house.  I did *69 to find out the number and called the company.  It was CapitalOne and they asked for an account number.  I said I have no account number and I explained the situation (receiving several wrong number calls).  The operator asked for my phone number, said this was a wrong number call, and said she would remove my number from the list (which would take 2-3 days).  I googled the phone number and found this website.

they call all day from 8am-9pm, and its so annoying because i dont have a credit card with them.

I get calls from this number 5 or 6 times a day on my cell phone, and when I answer, there is no one on the line!  I have a capital One account, but I am current on the payments!  I don't know why they are calling me all the time.

I do not have a Capital One card and these people keep calling my cell phone!  It needs to stop!

These people have called me multiple times, and I get them to leave me alone for a while, then they start back up. Here's the interesting part - and this is especially for those people who get on here and say that all of us are getting calls because we owe $. They are calling for my father, who I do not speak to, nor do I care to. I haven't had the same name as him in 13 years, and we live 2,000 miles apart. So, for those of you who are preaching, want to explain that?
These people are a fraud. And, in case you're wondering, I don't have ANY credit cards, so butt out if you don't know what you're talking about. Go preach somewhere else.

This is a collection agency for Capitol One. We were getting calls for this and I decided to call them back (because they DO NOT leave messages)and I was actually used as an alternate contact number from someone I know..  that is why the were calling.

I receive calls from these people constantly day after day after day. Hour after hour.  Sundays they start at 8:15 a.m.  They keep asking for Theresa Howe.  NO SUCH PERSON EVER HAD THIS NUMBER.  I have spoken to supervisors numerous times and have threatened to file harassment suits if the calls continue.  They tell me every time they will take my number off the list that it will take 24-48 hours and I should never get any more calls.  Guess what....There has to be something we can do as a group!!  Please someone figure it out and let me know.

They called my house at exactly 8:00 this morning and woke my baby. I called back to determine what on earth they could need. The very first question was "Can I have your 16 digit Capital One account number?" "No." Turns out they were looking for the previous owner of this house. He hasn't lived here in 3 1/2 years, and never had this phone number. So glad I didn't pass out my account information.

The have called several times and I ignored it.  When I finally picked it up today the guy said he was from Capital One and was calling to verify my payment of this amount on such a date.  I verified it and said was that all he was calling about?  Yes, he said, just a courtesy call.  Then about an hour later another call from the same number wanting to speak to my husband, saying she was from Allied Insurance.  When I questioned her, she said she could not share it with me, my husband would know why she was calling.  As I continued to question her, she hung up on me!  Then I got suspicious and called Capital One.  They could not tell me whether or not anyone had called but reassured they would take care of my account.

received seven (7) calls from this number on sumday july 26,2009 starting at 8am.  answered twice.  either dead silence or recorded music.  another call monday the 27th.  finally answered on the 28th and someone who barely spoke so i could understand her said she was looking for someone else that does not live here.  if they call again i am calling my lawyer...'''

call capital one and report it. they will fill out a form on it and/or contact them. it is possible that the phone # you have once belonged to someone else that owes them money and that is the only record they have.
