- Bill| 5 repliesThat 800 number gives them some vulnerability if you have a fax machine. Set up the machine to call them with a simple message like "I don't have a Microsoft operating system and do not qualify for any refund. Please stop calling me". Set the machine to redial if the fax doesn't go through. The software on mine will let you specify the number of redials and the time periods during the day to dial. I suggest setting the redial count to 500. Then sit back and let the machine go to work. If they don't have a fax machine, this will tie up their line (at their expense) and their people for about a day. The only downside is that this will also tie up your phone.

- N GraceSame experience as others. Definite Robo dial and poor robot voice message as I do not use the number dialed and no one has ever been given the number by me. Scam, scam, scam!!!
- Caller: "Microsoft" yeah, right.

- Tygerkat replies to Bill| 2 repliesSure, great idea! Except for the well-known fact that scammers are wont to spoof phone numbers, which means your little stunt would be harassing the innocent owner of the spoofed number.
- TaylorMicrosoft scam stating they will refund me. Nah, they are NOT closing down but yet this robot says so! Don't fall for it!

- StanGot the same message the other day as the others have stated. This is a scam for sure. To get the refund you must give them access to your computer. There goes all your information to the crooks, banking, passwords ect. Microsoft is not going out of business folks, use some common sense.
- Caller: Microsoft Computer Tech. Support
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- SammieLeft 3 back to back messages. The calls were robo calls instructing me to not hang up; callers name as Kathy Jackson. I was entitled to refund for technical support that I had purchased from Microsoft and the company was ordered to close.

- Crosshairs replies to BillTelemarketing call centers can program their Robo-dialers to display any phone number on your phones Caller ID, even your own number. Would you do an automatic redial to your own phone number? The phone number shown is NOT necessarily the phone number they called from. Flush your redial idea and just spend some money on a good call blocker and block ALL numbers that begin with 888 (or 800 or 999 or any area code or any phone number of your choosing). It's a no sweat opt out of the majority of scam phone calls.
- STHEY CALLED ME TWO TIMES JUST TODAY. HAVE CALLED ME OFTEN IN THE PAST.

- MONuisance spammer; message says to call for a refund, but the recorded message talked right through my VM message, so the "who called" is definitely missing and suspect.

- TurnipLeft a call on my land line. Very poor quality message and couldn't understand what they were saying. I called the number back and they answered and hung up. Twice. No doubt a scam after reading the comments here.
- jetamesReceived the same message as others...with a twist. Called our home land line at 4:48pm and then called our office land line at 4:50pm. We have not answered unknown calls (home, office or cell) for over a year and we certainly would not call their number (or any other number) back. Here's a tip - DO NOT ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS - EVER!
BTW have blocked all future 888 919 calls.- Caller: Criminals
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Bob replies to MaylnnMy voice mail received an almost exact same robo-voiced message: " This is Cathy Johnson, I am calling you from Micrsoft's Refund Department...". I'm assuming they changed out the name due to it being a different month.
I'd like to think that even if this scammer's message got through to someone how really did pay some fee for Microsoft technical support they'd be smart enough to know that such a large tech company wouldn't be "ordered to close down".
