P.S the more information you give th m the easier it is for them to defraud you.

I don't care if it's the correct spelling of your name, you mother's maiden name, your S.I.N and or EVERYTHING & ANYTHING inbetween, DO NOT divulge absolutely NOTHING.
Simple hang up and block the number, and when they change their number and start harrassing you again, hang up and block their number again,

Leave your comments here on the interaction you've had with them, and if you feel like it , report them to B.B.B.

Called twice this week. Says they are D&A services at TD Bank and want you to give up personal info before telling why they are calling. I checked physical addresses in Mississauga that are associated with the phone number but there is no such offices. Don't give up any info to the scammers.

I agree with you. I keep getting calls for people that had my number before me. Like you I was worried about someone applying for credit in my name. Your feeling was right it is TD Visa so I asked that my number be removed from there lists.

Called me (politely) asking for contact information for someone I know. I (politely) did not tell them anything. But I know enough about the underlying situation to know that they are aggressively pursuing statute-barred debt from a judgement-proof individual that hasn't quite aged off the credit reports yet (so 3-5 years old in this case).
It seems from other recent comments that this is a market niche that this company favours. They must buy this debt really, really cheaply... I can't imagine the recovery rate is very good.
If you are receiving calls about "old" debt please do yourself a favour and look up the statute of limitations for your area and how not to inadvertently revive statute-barred debt.

NEVER, EVER answer these calls from shady debt collectors, even to argue or challenge a claim.  DON'T ANSWER!  BLOCK THE NUMBER!  They have no special power or status regardless of where they claim the debt is owed.  These companies hide behind many different phone numbers and pretend to be affiliated with government departments.  They purchase debt claims for pennies on the dollar without verifying whether the debt is valid (IF a debt is legitimate a lender can file a claim throught the civil courts; making phone calls is just pointless harassment).   If you NEVER answer they will get the message ... eventually.  Unfortunately they will persist becuse they can take advantage of robocalling and weak legislation, but like the bad old days of junk faxes they will fade away eventually.  This will happen faster if NO ONE ANSWERS unidentified or annoyance calls.
