Yup...I'm getting them also. On my home (land line) phone and cell phone. I generally don't pick up numbers I don't recognize, and they hang up on the answering machine. Several calls a week.

If you have the time and energy you can file a claim in small claims courts and supposedly if you win get up to $1500 per claim against the various telemarketers calling on your cell.

Blocking doesn't help. I've received several calls a day on my cell from Oregon (which I never answer), each number is different. It's a process to block each and every number, and it doesn't stop the them anyway as they constantly change the number. I no longer trust the Do Not Call listing because I never got any spam calls on my cell until I listed it with DNC. Now I get spam calls daily. PITA.

I received a call from this number.  Since it was long distance & I did not recognize the number, I did not answer it.  No message was left on my voice mail.

Thanks for all who answered the call sow e know it is to offer a "free" cruise.  I suppose all you get is the voucher & you're on your own for getting to the port of call.  That's how these scams usually work.

Just one more number to add to "IGNORE" (ringtone = silence"). If you don't recognize a number don't answer it is my motto. Sadly the DNC registry has major loopholes which allow many calls which none of us want.

The Caller ID said "PACIFICTEL".  I did the quick-press answer then hang-up thing, mostly because I didn't feel like listening to it ring for 5 minutes.  I don't know if they will assume that someone here answered the call or not.  I just hope they don't call back.

I saw i got a call from this number, didn't answer it but after looking it up, I'm glad i did.  I love the fact that my android cell phone has a call block feature built into it :)  Guess this one will be added to the list.

    The professional
I work for a law office that specializes in debt resolution. I've been doing this for almost 10 years and while it looks like some of you have an idea of how to handle these issues most of you are just speculating at this point. Let me see if I can help.

First, if it's a scam then you won't be able to do anything about it. Complain all you want, it's not going to do any good. The only real case you have is either filing a suit against the "company" that called OR proving that someone sold or gave your information to that "company" without your permission. Unless you've got nothing better to do and you're willing to waste a LOT of money it will be almost impossible to do either one of those things.

Now, if it's a debt collector (obviously not this number but in case you're getting other calls too) then it's a totally different case. They have to quit calling you once you make the request to do so HOWEVER, just because you ask them to quit calling doesn't mean they will. The best thing for you to do is get an address for that collector and send them your request by certified mail. Keep in mind, this only works for debt collectors, not original creditors.

I keep seeing "FCC" on here which, I'll be honest, I'm not sure what that refers to. I know that the FTC regulates calls from collectors and takes complaints regarding possible scammers but I don't know who the FCC is.

Political Recorded Message.  Asked 3 political questions, rate the questions from 1 to 5, with 1=bad, through 5=good. 1.) how are the democrats handling the debt crisis? 2.) how are the republicans handling the debt crisis? 3.) how is the president handling the debt crisis?  Then, when the questions are answered, you are asked to press a number to be connected to a vacation representative to schedule your free cruise for 2 to the Bahamas.  What a farce!

This is a scam for some tour cruise outfit. I was getting calls for someone offering a "free 3 day crusie" and when I raised hell with them I started get these "political poll" calls offering the same "free cruise".
If they call you on a DNC list number they can be fined $500 but if they call as a "political organization" they get around hte DO NOT CALL list.
