got the call jes 65 minutes ago from a filipino sounding guy saying his name was raymond and the same 'no-name-number-only-ballot-from-a-mall-promo' yarn. told him i was driving and if he could call me back tomorrow instead.  he said he would. and now that i've read all these stuff, i think i'll have some fun. hehehehehe

This indian dude "Shawn" has called me up to 7 times a day, for the past two weeks! He says he's from National Gifting Center.

The ONLY conversation had between me and this weirdo was after I returned the call because of 2 voice messages left within a ten minute span. He asked me to confirm my number (wtf? YOU CALLED ME WEIRDO!) but I figured maybe it was for security reasons on their end. So I confirmed. He then asked me my NAME, since apparently, someone filled out a ballot with my number on it. (REALLY? DOESNT THAT MAKE THE ENTRY ILLEGITIMATE IF ITS INCOMPLETE??!?!) I made up a name. He asked that I write down an address where I could come pick up my prize, and I told him I didnt have a pen. He continued to say that his verification manager would have to call me back with the authorization code. I ended the call there.

I have now received a total of 17 voice messages, and a zillion missed calls cuz i REFUSE to answer.

His voice messages ask for me to call back 'Shawn' - "THE VERIFICATION MANAGER!!"  Uhh, buddy, you need to get your names and stories straight!

The call back number left is 416.342.1547... Apparently, it's a Telus line based outta Mississauga.. I guess that would coincide with what these idiots are telling other people to head out to 3185 American Drive.

I would love to do something about it, cuz it's annoying as hell.

I wouldnt chalk it up to your cellphone-seller-buddy hawking phone numbers to solicitors. My number is a FIDO number that I've had for...er.. 7 years?

Exactly the same as many emails before.. Indian accent, offering a 2008 Ford Explorer or 27" TV or a 3 days /2 nights vacation... guess which one you get and which always falls on a Wednesday or something.

I did sorta sign up for an "appointment" on Friday evening, damned if I'm gonna go though..

This call came in and it was very distorted. the phone number displayed was 999-299-7676. He asked if this was when he asked if my phone number was ... ....I hung up.  then about 2 minutes later, my message light was flashing, and when I checked it, the message said to record my message at the sound of the tone.  I called Bell Canada and this number DOES NOT EXIST.  They told me to contact  the compeitionbusburea.ca, but there isn't anything on this web site that indicates any Assistance. I am concerned that I linked in to an illegal scheme and my phone number can be used for illegal purpuses. I may be paranoid, but you never know.

Someone called me from that number tonight, but, sensing it was a telemarketer due to the strange area code, I let it go to voicemail. They never left a message. Hopefully, they won't keep bugging me, but if they do, they'll keep getting my voicemail.

But if you really want to talk to them and get them off your back, just tell them that you're unemployed, or on welfare, or something like that. They're obviously looking for decent income families if they ask if your income is over $50,000, so if you tell them you're on welfare, in all likelihood, they'll stop bugging you, because you won't be able to afford to buy their "points"....or whatever it is they're selling.

Around 4:45 PM today (Saturday), I received this call.  It was a guy with an accent (at first I thought it was Hindu, but I also thought of African) telling me that I filled some ballot on Dec 12 2007 (which I didn't, I know where I was) at one of the 100 locations and of the 9500 ballots that were handed out from stores, Wal-Mart being one of their locations (why the detail?  Please read on...).  He then proceeded to tell me that I had won 1 of the 5 prizes, a week cruise, a trip to bahamas? rca television (DUDE, RCA doesn't make televisions anymore), and I have to tell him whether I'm closest to Etobicoke or Woodbridge, to go bring my serial number, go to the front desk of reception, then the reception will enter my serial number in to confirm I won something, then go to another room for refreshments, then a gift giving ceremony, then I go home and the sponsor (including RCA, GM Ford, Ramada Inn, etc) will call to give me my prize.

Since I was not doing anything worthwhile, I decided to dick around with this guy, just to get a few laughs.  The call lasted 40 minutes.  Cuz frankly, if an idiot's going to call me to waste my time, I will make the best of it.  

I proceeded to ask him questions, and all he could really respond with was "let me tell you ma'am" before every sentence. I asked him about the ballot, that I did not fill, it was impossible for anyone to fill it, then he said "maybe your friends were playing a joke on you", then I said, "if you had any idea that they were playing a joke on me, as ballots are supposed to have your name, why did you even dare calling me?" idiot.  Then I gave him the hypothetical situation, "what if it was a house of 4 people, unrelated, as they were renting individual rooms, if you were to call, who would you ask for?"  Oh yeah, when he can't answer, he says, "you're exaggerating everything."

I asked him for his name, he's like, "um it's John... Smith", and from his accent, I know it wasn't John Smith, but I'm not going to bring the race card, so I said "I don't believe you, I know you're lying because everybody says their name is John Smith, you can be a little more creative than that, what's your manager's name?" "oh it's Brian" "What's his last name?" "um, what? last name? Brian?" "you don't know your manager's name? you're an idiot!" "ok hold on *2 second hold with some cheap cellphone ring as music in the background* oh it's Gamble". "Can I speak to your manager then?" "no, you can't". "why not??" What an idiot.

He gave me http://www.thevacationstore.com as his company website... It's obviously not their website because it's someone's trying to get money off google ads.  I asked him owns the website, he was unable to answer.  I asked him many questions and all that junk he told me is in the 1st paragraph.  He's like, "have you won a contest before?" "yeah, and you know what? They tell you where and when I filled the ballot, the store and the website, and they tell me an exact location, to pick up the gift, there's no confirming of serial numbers, none of that crap, so I know you're a scammer."  I even mentioned this website, "well everyone here says you guys scam, and it's funny that what they are talking about is exactly what this call is."  He said i was exaggerating again.

I basically had a ball insulting him after everything I asked him to clarify, and yet, he still stayed on the phone!  40 minutes!  I said to him, "you know this not going anywhere, you are wasting your time, you're wasting my time, and you're especially wasting your manager's time cuz he's paying you for this, I am surprised that you are still on the phone with me.  You need to tell your manager that a) you need to train your personnel more so that they should be able to identify the calls that are not getting anywhere so that you can call the next person you want to scam, and b) that you need to train your personnel to know their product or scam better so that they don't sound so unconvincing." He just laughed it off saying, "yeah I think it's funny too" Wow, he's an idiot.  

And then he proceeds to ask me whether I was single or married, "why does it matter?" "will you marry me? I'm asking you to marry me." WHAT? So I said, "why the hell would I want to marry an idiot like you?  You don't know wtf you're talking about, I don't know your real name, are you kidding me?"

Then he said he would call me when he's bored, probably so that he can waste more of his manager's time, or I'm just that much of a comedian.  He must've called me 6 times in total w/ this number, and left me a message from 923003456801.  In the message, he said his email was fhsan.ar@gmail.com, but I think that's nonexistant.

No message. .just a hang up.. very very odd feeling of this after realizing this has happened to others.. I hope this wont turn into somethign harassing.

I would just like to let you know that this guy named "John Smith" (UGH) has been harrassing me since my last posting (re: 2 above, my lovely story there).  The last time he called me was just a few minutes ago.

I will scream bloody murder if he calls again, and the time is appropriate that I get the chance.

He has left me messages, saying that I should call him at 923003456801.  wtf.

He just called me (it's 11:25 PM, I know).  I asked him, "do you work in Mississauga?  And do you know it's illegal to call me this late in the evening after work hours? (which is true, telemarketers are not allowed to call you after 8 pm or something) I know you work at 3395 Mississauga.  Do you want me to go over there and find you, cuz I can.  If you dare call me again, I will report you to the police"

He was trying to interrupt me a few times, but in the end he said, "ok, I'm sorry" and hung up.

this guy calls me and says he is calling about coupon. i said "dont call me any more "this is my private phone" he dosent stop i said i am gonna call bbs then he said i dosnt give a bleep and bleep you and stuff. i said i am gonna report this and they said that i am gonna hear from lawyer. i hung up after 2 minutes . this guy calls saying so called lawyer.i used some law term and stuff .he says do whatever you want and hung up.

called me at work today, Iwas busy said call back later. called at10:00pm told me i entered a draw, when i asked what store? no answer when i asked what did i buy? they put chad on the phone.  iasked the same questions & the prick asks me if i understand english? then says he is calling the cops because i'm rude and hangs up but gives me International blvd address in mississauga

An Indian guy phone and my daughter answered the phone, the guy started hitting on her. She hung up on him. One night I had a guy phone and ask for my daughter, said his name was Ray and left the number 416-342-1547.  When she returned the call she said it was the same guy from the first phone call.  He has called back again tonight and this time I asked him what he wanted he said he had a job for my daughter. I told him to F*&$ off and told him if he called again I would report him.

I guess since this is not an uncommon problem, I will be buying a very loud whistle for the next time he calls.
