    Gangster
ahahahaha i was curious so i chatted with "David". i told him i would call my boyfriend to see if he would come because i am not of age, and i would call back...
instead of calling my beau i googled the number... and a bunch of websites came up... i was on this website when "David" called back (although it was clearly someone else... i am very good with voices on the phone)
With all the harrasment comments i began to get nervous so when i questioned "David" about all the bad feedback and the fact that i could not find them on the bbb (website, phone number or postal code)he tried to explain but i went off... i told him i was a gangster and i would shoot him and he dont wanna mess wit me and he could call the police and ask about me cause they know all about me LOL all he said was "are you coming to get your prize or not"
i told him never to call back my phone or i will come find him and shoot him... and i asked if he knew any gangsters lolololololol i hung up on him...
BTW i am not a gangster... but i hope i scared them into losing my number

WOW it's still going on huh? I received several calls from this gentleman today. He can't be dialing out randomly. He knew I was Indian too. He spoke to me in hindi. I assumed it was those bloody long distance agents. He asked me my name. I asked him why he had called. He wouldn't say. So I hung up. Then he called again. I picked up and I asked him what he wanted and why he was calling. He told me he was bored. I was upset. I hung up again. He phoned again and again. I picked up and said I have his 1999# and I work for Rogers communications. I am going to contact the police with his number. He said @#it and hung up. He hasn't phoned me since then.

they called from a blocked number, i listened for a bit because he said i entered my name in some ballet (my g/f might have). eventually i got bored so I said "i cant talk now, bye".

A minute later I got a call back from "1-999-299-7676" and it hung up before I picked up.  Then Blocked Number called back and it was the same douche.

i got a call from this number 1-999-299-7676, saying i had won something from a mall in etobicoke. but i couldnt really understand the guy who was speaking to me, as he was talking very quietly and it was loud in the background. he had the same sort of accent as the others posters report, some sort of indian/ east asian. he kept asking if we could be 'phone friends'. and kept saying please untill i hung up on him. then called back 3 times when i didnt answer. the first 3 times he called then number was listed as private, but the fourth time this number came up. its really creepy....

some interesting info...I looked up 1510 Drew Road Unit 6.  It is listed on TICO (Travel Industry Council of Ontario) as a business called Canadian Universal's Travel Gallery Inc.  Their licence to sell travel has been revoked and the site warns not to purchase travel from them...AH HA! So it's probably about selling some travel crap that is not legitamate - these guys are [***].  Someone please do something about them!

    I got a call from this number (1 999 299 7676) today.

At first, I got a call from a "private number". It went through to my voicemail, as I rarely answer blocked/private calls. They left a hangup, and called back. I decided I'd answer this time, as I have been handing out resumes and didn't want to miss out on a potential job.

Person on the other end of the line had a very strong Pakistani accent, to the point where I had a hard time understanding some of what was said. They said they were calling because I had won a prize; saying I had filled out a contest ballot in one of their stores (which started with a V, but I can't remember what it was). I figured this was possible... I do fill out contest ballots now and then.

Person on the other end asked me to confirm my phone number and I did. He then launched into a spiel saying I was eligible to win one of three prizes; $15 000 cash, a Caribbean vacation, or a 42" plasma screen TV. I would have to come into their office to draw a prize ballot from a box "by [my] own hand", and I was guaranteed to walk away with one of those three prizes. The address to go for my prize was given to me as such:

    1510 Drew Rd, Unit 6, Mississauga L5S 1W7
    At Dixie, North of Derry

They asked me to come pick up my prize at either 6pm or 8pm. Then they said I had to bring my spouse, boyfriend, or common law partner to pick up the prize. I said I didn't have one, and they stammered a moment before plowing on to say it didn't matter so long as I was between 27 and 69 years of age. I laughed and said I wasn't. They asked how old I was, and I hung up.

They called back twice more; once from another "private number", then from the 1 999 299 7676 number. I didn't answer it, and they didn't leave a message.

My caller ID kept showing 999-299-7676 today and then stopped. I remember for the past month, this was a regular caller - I answered once - a man with an East Indian accent asked for a Mr. Gharwal...saying he owed money for a purchase. He was very persistent that Mr. Gharwal needed to repay  what he owed???

He refused to tell me the company name or identify himself.

I told him that person was dead - whoever he was and I'll notify the police...The nuisance caller hung up. BTW - I'm not Mr. Gharwal.

i got the call. apparently i won one of 4 things. then he was inapropriate, so i asked for the manager, or someone else i could speak to. he continued saying he liked my voice and that he was masturbating to it. and proceeded to go on in detail before i faked a man's voice and asked what the hell he thought he was doing. then he hung up.

Just got a call from them.  Couldn't understand the woman at all.  The most I got was, pick up my free prize at 1510 Drew Road Unit 6, Mississauga (after asking her 6 times), and some prize code R-1575. Not sure about her name or anything.  So she transferred me to her boss (his english was much better).  I told him my father-in-law was a lawyer and I will have him do a check the company before I agree to anything.  HE HUNG UP ON ME!!! LMAO.  Why doeosn't the government do anything about these scams?  They must be making $$$$ from them???!!!!

Thank you to ever started this forum and to those of you who have continued to contribute to it.

I received a call from "Sara" yesterday afternoon from TVS, with an almost exact example of what I have been reading in these posts. After having verifying some the information requested (Age, Income, Maital status, etc.), I was passed on to "Shani Stevens". I was required to come with my wife (I am not married). Really, I was prepared to go to this "event" to claim my prize. I told him I needed to confirm my availablity and was told Saturday was also available. After pausing and acting like I was conferring with my spouse, I was told Sunday was also available. Also, he asked what prize I was hoping for (done in a personable fashion) and was told "I hope you don't just want the cash".

This "Shani Stevens" called Saturday morning at 9:30 to confirm, yet his 905.581.0085 goes straight to voice mail; no intro, no personal message, just "this phone number is expecting higher call volume than expected, please leave a message". He called me 30 minutes before I was expected to call him at the above number, and only after confirming my appointment did I recieve my Gift Confirmation number.

My commments and thoughts are pretty close to those I have read here. So much about that phone call was sketchy. I could hardly understand the heavily accented Hindi and the pace was very difficult to understand. (I am betting the pace of the conversation is intended to confuse people, but the idea of a prize was the hook!)  I deal with heavily accented people on a regular basis (Daily!), and deem myself to be a pretty good interpreter of what people are saying.

I even convinced my brother to pose as my husband, since neither of us ever fill out ballots, which he thought was a laugh because we would look like 2 identical males.

Everything about this call nagged me. They repeated the fact I would win a prize 8 times. That I did not have to make any purchases or payments 5 times, and that this was a Canadian government sponsored program. Also it was sponsored by Ramada Hotels, Days Inn and American Airlines.

Suffice to say I am very happy I did quick google search on the number. (At first it was Google Maps to find directions, yet no TVS was not listed as a company. Not until I put in the full address did I get any kind of info, leading me to this forum).

It has been nagging at me all day because I knew it was a scam. If anything, I feel a little foolish for not trusting my gut and telling BooPinder to go play in traffic during rush hour.

When I don't turn up tommorrow, I look forward to having this stooge call me to question my absence. Looking forward to it.

By the way, where are the success stories some might have experienced? And please be done by those who know how to write and express themselves like a 30-59 age, Canadian educated person, and not the choppy, half-[***] acronym, internet-lingo jargon that passes as the English language these days. (I have failed high school students for trying to pass off this kind of trash as language)

Thanks again for the information and not wasting my Sunday afternoon.

    This is the information I have found out;

The product belongs to :  Canadian universal Travel Gallery Inc.

Address:  1510 Drew Road, unit 36
    Telephone #  905 672-1059

Contacted them and spoke to a Betty who claims that the companies calling hired by them to sell their product.  They have no way of confirming which company is calling as they have contracted three such companies.
In our conversation it was apparent that she knows who is contacting everyone as her solution was 'just make the appointment and come to claim your prize', a Sales pitch right in the middle of a complaint!
She also went through the process of what they do...another sales pitch... what did the [***] not get?!?!?I am not interested.....
