i just got the same call from a guy about a gift from TVS Ramada Inn, and hung up, then he called back and yelled at me for hanging up on him.  I said i wasn't interested, and he yelled back "why aren't you interested!!" so then i hung up again.  definitely a SCAM!!! This happened July 1, 2008, 7:30pm.

I received a call similar to the one mentioned all throughout this thread, so I won't bore you with the details. Gifting center, won a prize, Indian accent.

So I did a little digging. Yes, this is a legitimate company, but they recruit a call center out of Pakistan (Not India, surprisingly) to do their outbound calls.

Coincidentally, I recieved a call from a Pakistani number earlier that day, claiming it was a wrong number. Coincidence? I think not. They were dialing for 'live' numbers.

It's a Time Share-esque type scam where they convert your money to 'points' and these 'points' may be used for a variety of vacations, but the vacation does not include flights or taxes, so essentially you are paying for a hotel room at a discounted rate, up front... subject to availability. They are very aggressive, as most of these Time Share companies are.

Yes... you get a prize, usually by drawing a ticket out of a drum, and 99 (probably 100) times out of 100, it's a trip... usually to Florida. No flight included, and no guarantees as to the quality of the hotel/motel you get to stay at... oh, and there are a pile of extra fees you'll have to pay.

Don't fool yourself into thinking that you'll be 'winning' anything else but this. If anyone does go to this 'gifting center' I would ask them to prove that the other prizes are in the drum, because if they cannot, THAT would be illegal and prosecutable.

There is very little you can do to prevent getting these calls. The calls do not originate from Canada, and while you can contact the Better Business Bureau, the company will claim ignorance and defer the problem to their call center. If things get serious for them, they just change their name, and maybe their office, and business will continue as usual.

You're best bet is to ignore it, or maybe have a little fun with the person that calls by stringing them along and wasting their time.

I received a call while on another (business) call. I interrupted the speaker to ask him to hold and went back to my business. I switched back as soon as I could, and I was on hold. I finished my business, but the caller had dropped. They retried but left no message (a few seconds of dead air).

Called on my company issued cell phone.  Guy with an Indian accent wanted to know if he had called 416-XXX-XXXX.  Told him he dialed the number, he should know who he called.  Asked again if the above number was correct.  Told them I don't confirm anything until he identified himself.  Said he was from some "Buyers Club" and my number had been left with them.  Told them not interested and hung up on him

I have gotten the exact same thing with this 1-999-299-7676 number. Originally I set up an appt with them, googled after and found out it was a scam. Called back and cancelled, they were not impressed. Since then, they call constantly. I don't always pick up, but when I do, I find the calls are getting creepier. One time I said I wanted to be taking off the list and I am not interested and the guy yelled and me and demanded to know why, when I told him it was none of his business he accused me of being rude to him. I hung up the phone. Yesterday as I was driving home, a guy called, when I asked who it was, he told me to "guess" and I hung up. This is really disturbing and illegal to keep phoning you after you have told them not to. What can be done?

The same guy called and asked if this was "416-XXX-XXXX" told him it was the right number. He told me about a ballot that I filled out at a mall (I thought I heard him say Zellers, could be wrong there was too much mumbling and noise in the background) I went along with it. He told me I had won one of four prizes (10k, carribean cruise, and two other things) He told me an address and started talking about procedure. When he asked if I was between the ages of 27-68 I was getting tired of this person and had someone on the other line so I lied and told him I was 13. He then sounded a bit irritated and went off mumbling. I then started saying that I can't recall filling out any ballot at any time. And then he kept on mumbling. So I said, I can't understand anything you're saying. He then said "I said that I have a 5-inch dick for you" Which then I hung up. I went back to my other call. And he kept calling, I think he must of called at least 5 or 6 times. And I kept hitting Busy. I really hope he doesn't call again.

    No Alias or Nickname
Tons of harassing calls of a sexual nature, after first trying to get personal details via a scam contest. Had to fill up my voicemail box just to stop the messages. Total loser, Bell Canada can't block the call and says to contact police. Complete loser, but don't let him bug you too much.

Have received about 15 calls from them today.

Knew it was a scam from the get-go.  Told me I won something from a ballot that I filled out at the mall.  Then asked me for my name.  Wouldn't give it.  I never go to the mall.

Asked them how they can sleep at night knowing that they prey on innocent people.

New guy gets on the phone and tells me that actually my friend gave him my number.  He has seen me around and wants "just friendship" from me.  Told him I'm married.

I think old guy gets back on the phone.  I ask him where he got my number from.  He responds "from his computer".

After a few calls, I answered again and told them that I was going to call the police.  One guy said that he didn't want to, and I quote "F*ck my brains" but "just friendship".  I hung up.

These guys are idiots.  But they are also harassing me with incessant calls.  It is actually starting to creep me out.

I also just got a call from them about 1 hr ago.

Seems like they are targeting females and are very rude and disgusting when they find one who picks up.

The fool who called me called himself "Miguel" eventhough he was of indian decent. He was asking me if I was between certain age groups, once I said no to both questions, he asks well how old are you, then i proceeded on asking for his # to call him back and he was curious as to why i wanted it, nonetheless he provided me 905-963-7365 ex 101.

I havent called it nor will I but it seems like they are pranking people via a VOIP line.

No need to be worried or scared, just a bunch of fkn losers.
