I got a call from this number...answered the phone...they said they were the florida sherrifs department or something like that...asking for a donation...and although i lived in florida when i was younger...i moved away when i turned 18...now i live in tennessee...i think it was odd that they would call me asking for a donation seeing as i havnt had a florida tag or licence for over 3 years...

    GKR,

I looked at my bf's online Verizon bill.  There are 3 9999999999 calls throughout the month.  Calls only lasting 2-3 minutes.  Either way, I was pissed off because in talking to Verizon, they told me that it was either an "unavailable" call or a "restricted" call. I'd be happier to know it was an unavailable call personally. Restricted calls spell TROUBLE. Trust me, I know. If his calls from a 9999999999 call are lasting 120 minutes, I'd say you need to hire a PI to check out the situation at hand. Sorry, but that is what I would do for sure!

    Ace,

These calls are "Unavailable" or Restricted." Regardless of what carrier you have.  Either way, they suck. I found these 9999999999 numbers on my boyfriends Verizon cell phone account. Went crazy thinking some B*&ch was blowin up his phone restricted. Never said anything because the calls are only 2-3 minutes long and there were only 3 of them in one month. I'm assuming the have to be (better be) unavailable rather than restricted.

    Linda,
Incomimg 9999999999 calls lasting for 1-4 minutes would be understandable. But calls for 15 minutes? Um, I'd maybe agree with Steve on this one. Verizon told me that the calls were from either "unavailable" or "restricted" numbers. Hopefully, they were just unavailable calls. Restricted calls are NEVER good.

You can't do anything to end it. You can not block the numbers from calling your phone. No way, no how. I tried.

    stalking victim
I got a text message displaying the phone number of 999-99 and a text message that did not make any sense. I have been stalked using caller id spoofing for six years, and I am wondering if this is the same person who is stalking me.

It is a telemarketer who is supposedly collecting money for the Illinois State Police fund.  If he was legit he wouldn't be spoofing his number.

Your story matches mine to a T. The incoming calls lasted up to 8 min each time. I called verizon and all they could tell me is that its a disguised number or spoofed. It seems really odd to me that the call lasted 1-8 min each time. People dont talk to people they dont know for 8 min especially if they are being charged.
