I signed up with Silverthorn on Dec 30, 2011. Was relieved thinking that FINALLY someone was going to help me out, that perhaps my struggles were going to become less severe. Yeah, not so much. Silverthorn Law Firm misrepresents the services they provide. They are not a government endorsed or supported organization; they are a FOR PROFIT agency. Third party collectors and creditors will NOT deal with them. I was told by SLF that they would contact all of me creditors and notify them that I had partnered with them to represent my accounts. I am still waiting for proof that they did this. I have asked many times and nothing has been presented to me. They are full of s*it, in fact I am pretty sure they have made no efforts to contact anyone. I have given the credit card companies the phone number to call SLF and they do not call anyone back. Do yourselves a favour, go get help with a trustee. They are certifies to do this, they are regulated by the government, they get audited, they have rules. Today I cancelled my contract with Silverthorn. I sent them an email last Friday telling them so, sent a registered letter today as well as a snail mail copy. And I closed my bank account so they can no longer have access to their monthly 'service fees'. I have contacted a trustee in bankruptcy and will likely have to do a consumer proposal which will take longer but is legal and legit. I have contacted the BBB and put in a formal complaint despite SLF not being accredited with them. There are many who have also put in complaints, too. And I will use every social media site to get the word out there. As my father used to tell me, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Get out of the contract. You can do it easily enough, you will lose your money you have paid them though. I cancelled today. I am done with them. Silverthorn is horribly misleading. I have gotten myself in so much trouble in just 10 months, am now being sued. And they will not help me with that either. Good times.
the debt relives program from Silverthron and Lupolover , lawyer is actually a scam. looking things from different prospective, The company with charge your first three months payment as their fees and will later charge you 50%of your monthly payments thru out the cause of the program. i recently signed up with Silverthron and lupolover LLP, now they recently change the name of the company to Cockburn & Associate which in turn makes our former contract with silverthrone to be invalid any longer. if the program is for real, how can't customers decided if they wants to migrate with the newly joined company, rather they enforce the rules that you should go ahead with the new company or all ur money will be forfeited. what kind of program is this.
well, if you having a bad feeling, i think is better to stick to your feelings. This firm is not for real from my own opinum. i did entrolled in August 2012, and i was having the same bad feelings about the company commitment to settle my debt. after carefully reviews their three months payment for their fee, firstly it sound so stupid that we fall for that contract, because apart from the three months payment that they have taken from you, they will also be taken 50% of my payment for the remainer of the programm, so when am i going to be debt free? i do not think so. i have paid for two months but now i called the company to let them them know i am not comfortable with all this debt relife program and theyn cut me loose
so, Kate i guess you decided to google the company because you have doubt in their services. for real do u trust them? i do not trust them. i have spoke with them but they all sound the same to me >>..scam
JENNY.>.. I can feel your pain. well do not give up. now that you have cancelled your contract you can now start talking to their manager. they will give you part of it. i cancelled my progam as well but they call be back to tell me they will refund part of my money after i telling the customer service rep that i will take the new company to court for stealing by trick. do not give up.

do not worry , there are sharks out there, keep your e-mail correspondence, keep all payments slips Keep log of all recordings, even go to their offices and keep log of all personal and phone numbers, You will note one sad thing that not even one lawyer has corresponded and talked with you, and yet they charge a fee for service on the lawyers letterhead be it email or not, one thing that RCMP and law society of Canada will be willing to ask if it's a fraud or not, remember if they take your money and do not give you a service, the BBBisall talk, the Law society and RCMP is Orkney talk!! It's real.
I have the same problem. Have paid over $2000 into this company and now my accounts have gone to a collection agency!!! i've called all the numbers i have, have emailed constantly and NOTHING!
Denise the first thing for you to do is to stop paying this [***] company. secondly changed your bank acct and thirdly start talking to your creditors yourself. now cockburn & Associate have change all their contact numbers. well I will suggest you go to their office to talk to one of those useless laywers in their firm. you can as well suit the company for frauding you. that is what am doing to them now, i am in the middle of filing crimial case against silverthrone and cockburm

Not to worry, keep records of all the payments, go personally to their offices, keep record of all e-mail correspondence, if something really is fishy, and we get burnt we can all present as a group being scammed to the RCMP , after all we pay taxes they have to protect us from Internet scams!!

hi i cannot disclose my name but i am sorry to all of you people. i work for the company and am leaving in 3 days. It is against my values in life i have worked there for a short time and now i am starting to realize it is a scam. we are not lawyers, i live in america, in new jersey the office is in toms river, nj. all they train us to do is act canadian and try and get your money. i truly do apologize to you guys and i wish that i had the power to refund your money but my advice is expose them for what they are, liars. if anybody has any more in depth questions about the company throw me an email at [removed]@yahoo.com. i will help you in this. I am a good catholic and i cannot stand by in this front anymore
You can't remain "anonymous" for long while publishing an address which embeds a real person's name. You will need to be more stealthy, starting with a means of email aliasing, such as the excellent Sneakemail. Judging from the more recent comments here, I imagine people would like to hear more about how your future ex-boss operates without necessarily leaping into a private channel. Trust flows two ways.
I wouldn't email "anonymous" at yahoo boys and girls. It looks a little too good to be true.
It may be that you are exactly who you claim to be anonymous, but I have to err on the side of caution.
It seems more likely to me that the email address you posted is a trap designed to ensnare people who are posting negatively about this operation than it does that you are telling the truth.
I believe an honest person who wanted to correct his mistakes would share what he knows with tips.fbi.gov , not on a public web site, or in an email correspondence with an unknown respondent.
If you have things you wish to share, please do so, but stop asking people to email you. I'm guessing you won't use the tips.fbi.gov site because you are the perp. Is my guess correct or not?
