" 909" area code fraud scams / fake calls and texts

Before anyone gets bothered, I replied to Chris with my comment even though it's a very old thread in hopes of replies being nested so that when others come to this thread they see it on the first page before posting numbers but I see it did not display this way.

The layout of the site changed a few months back and now all the threads are chronological, no more "nesting".

Got email from Market Force for mystery shoppers. Would send certified check to include $300 pay. Was supposed to draw cash to send to someone else through walmart. Then report on how transaction was handled.

Did you post in the correct thread, under the number that called you? Or did you just pick this one at random?

Yeah basically same thing happened to me but I was looking on Craigslist for some painting work and found a side job painting 2 rooms but the guy said he lived out of town and would mail me a check and for me to take my payment out and send the rest  to someone else thought was all legit until went to bank it was a 909 area code

Just got a text from 909-328-3619. It just said "Hello". Of course I blocked the number it came from. Wish this stuff would stop. If only you could block all 909 area code calls/texts.

909-375-8177 Text received for advertised item on Craigslist. Craigslist warns about "out-of-town" scams. Not taking the bait.

He "hiked into m phone"?  Well I guess the m stands for Motorola?   But if he actually "hiked into" your phone he must be one really small person.

9096103106 keeps calling me a woman from indiana threatng me i owe money i reported this number.
