I received a phone call from them this morning Feb. 26, 2015 they told me that they were from the F.BI. and that I committed a fraud with my application for a payday loan. At first I have to admit that they kinda know what to say to scare you to death, but I went online and did a reverse phone number look up and this company came up Level 3 communications. Once I saw that company name then I did a Google search and found out that I was not the only one they are trying to scam out of money. If you get a phone call from this number it is a scam 323-527-9977. Do not be afraid to tell them that they are trying to scam you do as I did call your local F.B.I office and the Federal Trade Commission and report them. Also call Transunion Credit Report at 800-680-7289 and protect yourself against any further potential credit problems or identity theft. Together we can help the F.B,I and the F.T.C and get this company put in jail where they belong. Hopefully my experience dealing with Level 3 communications can help you if they ever call you. Don't be a victim. Don't be afraid to tell them they are a scam. Don't be afraid that they are telling you that they have a arrest warrant out for you, because they do not.

    Hear, hear!

    How very, very well said!

A perpetual cynical sneer does nothing to advance actual positive change.

Your comments belong in this currently naked number thread, where others will be looking first for any hints as to caller identity and purpose.

I really hope that after the thorough discussion in this short thread you will not persist in confusing Level 3 the carrier with the actual source of your calls.

I received a call from a 202 number about a week ago saying that it was the IRS calling for past due taxes from an audit completed.  They said the IRS sent me letters via mail 3 times and because I haven't paid, they were now calling for payment.  I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was given someone right away.  They both offered an IR ID number.  The first person I spoke to provided an IRS PIN number as well.  When I asked the "Supervisor" for his PIN number, he said . . . "what?" .  I said your PIN number and it was obvious he made something up.  I then said to him to re-send me what you say I was sent 3 times already in the mail again and he said they won't do that because they already sent it 3 times.  I asked for his Supervisor and get this  . . . he said there was no one else higher than him in the IRS.  I said Really?  You mean you are the absolute highest person in the IRS.  He says . . . well for your case mam there is no one higher than me.  I said . . . ok . . . well give me someone higher than you outside of your department.  He says the next highest level person is the Attorney General . . . I said . . . OK . . . then give me his number.  To that he started saying . . . do you realize you could go to jail?  Federal Agents will come to your home and lock you up.  I then said that "Are you threatening me". He then got loud and hung up the phone.  About 5 days later, I received a recorded call from 202-684-6724 stating that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me and that I need to call this number back now.  I looked up that number and it's a Level 3 Cell phone in McClean, Va.

Here is a new number for you that is owned by Level 3 Communications. It is 210-787-1817. One of the callers is a Samantha Walker she says she is a State Fraud Investigator with the Pre-Trial Divison. Talked with the Texas Attorney General's Office Yesterday and they 100% verified as being a HUGE Scam that they have been dealing with for over a week. The Attorney General's Office said that the number is Spoofed and they are not even in Texas. This has been turned over to the Federal Trade Commission since when anyone does call the number it is answered with "Criminal Investigation - Fraud Unit Divison".....They are going all out in Scamming People these days!!! They AG office said for anyone they contact they urge that you contact your local Attorney General office and also the FTC!

I am confused by this thread.  Level 3 Communications is a Tier 1 network provider.  They are a transit carrier, one of the backbone carriers of the internet in the US and have a global presence. They are huge and offer services that span nearly the full range of electronic communications.  Do people think that Level 3 is somehow involved in phone scams?

Here is another fraud call going through Level 3 Communications from a Mrs. Johnson who does not specify what the "supposed" fraud charges are with my bank account.  Again, it is the same, age old scam these criminals have been trying to pull for months, years, whatever.  The number they are calling from is 844-477-7100.
