I went ahead and booked a carpet cleaning appointment for them to go to a vacant house. I waited up the street and watched them park accross the street. It was a man in his early 30's driving a small older model red truck which was UNMARKED. He came out and knocked on the door a few times. I was able to get a license plate number. That license plate number is 3P0G927 (California Plate).

After waiting in front of that house for several minutes I received a call on my cell phone. The number they called me with was 818-534-6825. They said that the carpet cleaner is waiting in front of your house and I told them that they have the wrong number.

I tried doing a reverse lookup on that number online at whitepages.com and all I can find out at the moment is that the number registered in Northridge, CA. Unfortunately my cell phone number was not on the Do-Not-Call list so I cant report them myself but hopefully someone out there can use this information to report them. Email me at miket818@yahoo.com if I can be of assistance.

I have received 3 calls from 310-405-6388 on my cell. I just registered my phone on the do not call registry so I can't report them either. If anyone reads this who is already registered please, please, please report. I can't even say the evil things I wish upon them!!!

By the way, I reverse searched the number and it is listed as being provided by Integrated Communication Consultants. (Searched on Whitepages.com and phonenumber.com at 8:00pm Central time) I'm not sure if that is faulty info but in the event you want someone to complain to...

I'm going to write them and complain right now

I just received the same sales pitch for carpet cleaning from the same number, 310-405-6388, on my cell phone.  I have been on the do-not-call list for a long time and reported the incident.  I received the same pitch from a different number a few weeks ago.  The number they had called from had been "spoofed" - it was not the real number.  Phone number spoofing is easily done and there are web sites that sell the spoofing service to telemarketers, etc.  Reprehensible!

These people are scum. If they call schedule an appointment and give the address for vacant building, your local police, or FTC office. If they call back, tell them they have the wrong number.

I'm surprised someone actually showed up in the role of "carpet cleaner." I had assumed the whole scam started and ended with phishing by phone. Now this has me wondering what the real mission of the "carpet cleaner" is. It sure isn't to clean carpets.

I just got the same phone call and I'm in the 310 area code as well.
I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry. I hope everyone will do the same.

My caller ID showed a number of 702-520-1163

I got the same pitch just a minute ago and when I asked for their phone number they hung up on me.  We need to put these people out of business.  I don't have caller ID but the Diane routine is getting kind of lame.  They called me last week too.  Must be a nationwide scam.  Isn't there some bunco squad out there somewhere that can put these creeps out of business?  The cops should monitor this website.  It's great!

    They know my local police
I gave the local police address and phone number. The rep told me not to be silly and try to fool them, they're way smarter than I'll ever be.

I said not if I make your job disappear by filing with the DNC people. She said she was in the Phillipines and didn't care about American laws.

Same old story about Diane's Carpet Cleaning. We get numerous calls from them all week long on our land lines and cell phones.  This scam is now working out of Hollywood, FL. They call from (954) 639-9022. We reported it to the DO NOT CALL List, but so far, it hasn't improved anything.

    same crap but from 310-464-0337
Same schtick from "Diane" -- reported on donotcall.gov

As a marketing person who has used autocalls to see my former employer's products, there's nothing wrong with this medium IF the FTC's guidelines are followed:

    1. They called my wireless # -- they are NOT allowed to call wireless numbers AT ALL.

    2. They did not say what company they work for -- thus, they are not show and "Established Business Relationship" (EBR).  Companies can call you if you are a current customer or were in the last 18 months.

    3. They do not have a means of opting-out (getting off) of their call list.  Major no-no.
