- Ron| 1 replyI got the "this is diane" robo call in Edmonds, WA and pushed the # key. To my delight the recording started at the beginning each time. Did this 2hrs while watching tv. Maybe if everybody did this it would slow them down
- karen| 1 replyI've been getting calls repeatedly for over a year from "Diane." Today I pushed #1 - the appt. line, and asked the name of the company. The woman said "Carpet Care." When I told her I'm on the "do not call" list but have been getting calls from them repeatedly (I was polite), she hung up on me. So I looked here, saw the other complaints, and filed a complaint with donotcall.gov. The phone number that this company called me from is 440-290-2990.
- karenBy the way, has anyone scheduled an appointment with these folks and then, when they show up, tell them you never made the appt.?
- Crusader replies to karenThat number is "no longer in service." I have been getting robocalls from "Diane" for carpet cleaning ("We'll even clean one hallway for free.")
Strange thing is I can never set an appointment. They give different company names or no company name, ask for my phone number, and then they hang up. Have been on DNC registry for ages, but it doesn't stop these folks.
Verizon told me to call local law enforcement on their non-emergency line and report the calls as harassing. Verizon says it sounds like the numbers are "spoofed," so it will be tough to trace. Only way phone company can put a trace or trap on the line is for law enforcement to take a report and then the customer has to give the report number to their local phone carrier. Not sure why these folks make these calls to simply hang up on potential clients (or victims). Some type of scam is involved here, but I have yet to figure it out.
I will keep pursuing and report back on this forum if anything new develops. - ScottyI just got another call from these people. When you talk to a real person you can't get any important info out of them. Next time I am going to make an appointment and get a license plate number. I have no carpets.
- Chris replies to SoCalBarb| 1 replyIt looks like this has been going on for years. It's 2013 and I've been getting 3-4 calls per week from Diane. When I stay on the line and ask questions, they hang up. What can be done about them?
- ChrisThis is still going on in 2013. I've had no fewer than 3 calls per week from "Diane" and have repeatedly ask them not to call but they hang up on me before I can even get it out of my mouth. I am on the do not call list. What can I do about these [***]???
- Michael W. Gephart replies to LynetteThese scammers are still in business. I have been getting calls from them, several times a week.
It is always the same recorded message..."Hi. This is Dianne" etc. The phone number which
shows up on my caller I.D is...510-699-6152. I live in Washington State, The latest call was yesterday (Feb. 25, 2013). I have a friend who lives close by, and gets the same calls. If you try to call the number,
you will likely get a message that says it has been disconnected. The area code is Oakland, Calif.
If you go to Google and type in this phone number, you will see a LOT of complaints about them.. - Mike W; G. replies to RRThis same scammer uses fake phone numbers from all over the country. The number that appears on my caller ID is (510) 699-6152 (same "Dianne", etc.). I have been reading MANY complaints from people who are on the do-not-call list, but still keep getting the calls. I even see where this same outfit has already been fined $10,000 in Idaho for violating the DNC Registry (again, the same "Dianne", etc.). And yet,
it does not appear to have slowed them down any!! - Norma Jean| 1 replyI continually receive calls on my lifeline phone- either from Amanda - Air duct cleaning- or Diane from carpet cleaning. I have been on the do not call list for years... and yet they call.... I don't have caller ID on this phone because we get a discounted phone bill due to my husband's disability and we cannot afford to have service with caller ID. At first I asked them to please stop calling. I pressed the correct number to get us removed from their calling list. When the calls kept coming, I got a whistle and now I blow it in the ear of whomever answers when I press '1'- today, when 'Diane from carpet cleaning' called, I did the same. The [***] then called me back TWICE and blew a car horn in my ear. These [***] are WAY out of line- to call people on a do not call list and then to harass us because we try to get them to stop. Do they really think that anyone on a do not call list is ever going to buy ANYTHING from these disgusting cretins who can't bother to respect our request to not be called?
- Pleady1Ditto everything re: Diane from Carpet Care (frequent calls, being hung up on when requesting they stop, despite being on do not call registry, etc).
I used *69 to find out which number had called me, and got this number: 209-220-2357. I called that number. A recording said to press 1 if I no longer wanted to be contacted re: specials. It said it could take up to 72 hrs to go into effect. I pressed 1.
I'm hoping for the best. Hope this helps others, too. If not, I'll keep looking for a solution. - FedUpTooTry filing a complaint with the FCC:
http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
Then let the callers know that you are filing a complaint each time they call. The complaint form will ask for any details you have including number, time and date of call(s), if you know of others who have received similar calls, etc. - annoyed replies to Chris| 2 repliesNow thats just stupid to assume everyone that answers a phone will be wearing a headset. Also it is IDIOTIC to blow a [***] whistle in these peoples ears because A) They most likely are just answering the phones since your pressing the #1 B) If the were wearing headset you can deafen someone or hurt their hear when they have NOTHING to do with the the phone call your getting so why are you even attempting to THINK they were behind it?! Your probably old and deaf yourself/ Its a [***] phone call man, yes its disturbing but you can ignore it OR leave when you know theyre calling. ALL you people make it the highlight of your day when you make it as big as this/ 7 PAGES of nothing but complaints and stupid ideas of how you THINK you can stop being CALLED. Blame the DO NOT CALL LIST for not protecting your [***] #'s How about your start calling and hanging up on those idiots for not working the way it should. Your anger and frustration is on the WRONG people. Yeah the people on the other side of the phone know its wrong but im sure it pays the bills and takes care of their family. You target innocent people. Yes they are wrong for doing those things to you guys to but what do you think it comes from? People like YOU that blow whistles, talk dirty, scream, complain, threaten, ect ect when its just a damn call. They deserve to blow a whistle in YOUR ear. If your kind, the kindness will come back to you.
- ANNOYED replies to Norma JeanWell dug-Cootles for then because you think its nice to blow whistles in people ears when and then yous say "how dare they call back and harass me" boo-hoo lady. Its not like they want to sit there and have people like you call them, they do they're [***] job. You deserved 100%
- annoyed replies to RonIt wouldnt slow them down cause your only one of thousands of call they send out but it is a GOOD idea. Why? because they pay to advertise and so they pay to call you. How do you charge a call? Minutes. so 2 hrs would be a good handful of money. So your hurting the company instead of harrassing its employees.
