- AnnoyedI answered a call from this number. A recorded message told me "We want to give you a home security system for free if we can display a small sign in your yard" I pressed 1 for more info. A man asked if I already had a home security system, I lied and said no, he proceed into a fast talking spiel about installing a a very basic home security system. When I interrupted his monolog with questions for particulars like the name of the company (Home Protection Security Systems), where in the country the company was located and from what location he was calling he became very annoyed, asked if I was interested or not and hung up on me.
- Steve RogersRobocall stating FBI reporting increase in crime in area... Man said prequalifiying buyers for GE Alarm Systems. I get these about twice a week. Please tell me how to get off their call list.

- call me irritatedSame deal as everyone posting above. I too am on the do not call. I have created the shortcut for the "file complaint" on computer and each and every time I receive a call from anyone such as this number, I file the complaint. So far that has done nothing to stop the calls. I am going to try the "pick up the phone and walk away" idea.

- GusWeird noise and hung up when figured out it was an answering machine.

- GaryThey've called me twice in last 11 days. First time was from a different number 631-496-3381. This time I listened to a recording about the FBI reports and the security system and then went to the live operator. I knew for the first call they weren't going to leave me along so I thought I'd see if I could find out anything.
The call was about General Electric Security Systems. Supposedly, free installation in return for putting out a sign. Of course, you pay a monthly fee. Clearly violates DNC law. I told the live operator I was on the federal and state do not call registries and why did she think her call was exempted from the law. I was expecting her to say something like "we aren't selling anything just giving away security systems" or something like that. But, she responded "because the law doesn't do any good" and hung up. At least she was honest about that. I filed complaints and listed General Electric Security Services as the caller although I suspect GE contracts this out in order to avoid bad publicity and legalities. I'm going to try to find some at GE (outside of the security services) and ask them how they feel about disrespecting people's rights and disregarding the law. They probably wouldn't like a bunch of people stealing their light bulbs.- Caller: Gary

- SkipWhen you get these calls just call the Federal Trade Commission at (877) 382-4357 an file a written report on them as the Do Not Call list does not seem to work. I get calls from this number at least once a week the latest being about Alarm systems and saying they will install a alarm system for free if we can put a sign on your lawn.

- JRRoman replies to Tennie| 1 replySame here, Tennie. I've reached the end of my rope with this so after Friday the land line will die a well deserved death. I believe the phone companies could indeed do something about these scammers but they're just "too busy" I guess. Well, I'm too busy to put up with it any longer. It's like paying $44/month to be annoyed.
- Eddie the hatI Won! I Won! I wonder how much my "prize" will cost me? These people are a bunch of low life losers.

- SandraCaller indicated 'winner' and no other message left. I know this is too good to be true for any really good thing although recently a called did leave a message stating we had win a cruise for two. I don't bother to call back. Thank goodness I was busy gardening when the call came.
- Eaymond replies to JRRomanDropping the land-line doesn't help. If you ignore the call - they just try again on the cell phone! This happened to me last week.
- plaw replies to D JohnsonNo, that does not make them exempt. The problem is that they *scammers*, and the phone number that shows up on your caller ID is *spoofed*. That's why reporting them to the FTC doesn't do any good: it's not their real phone number.
- Tommie replies to DI read another post that if you slowly hit the numbers on your phone that it will "mess up" their system. I keep forgetting to try that
- MugsyOn 09/28/2012 at approximately 1:47PM pacific time, I received a call on my land-line from 206-496-0929. After I said "hello", I heard nothing; so I hung-up. I dialed [*][6][9] ('star' 69) to retrieve the number. I then searched the Internet for complaint reports and found this site. After reading the comments on this site, I called back to the number 206-496-0929. After about 5 rings, I got a nice sounding recorded male voice which said "thank you" for calling back and that I had received an automated call from a "commercial entity or its representatives". The recording went on to say that if I wanted to stop receiving calls from this "organization" in the future and to be removed from this organization's calling list, to press [1] at any time. I pressed the number and heard "thank you". The recording then said that my number will be removed and to allow 24 hours for the request to be processed.
I have tried this tactic with several other 'spam' callers, lately, and have had similar results, sometimes hearing up to 72 hours for the request to be processed. So far, I think that it is too soon to know whether or not this approach is working. Yet, I have noticed (in the brief time that I have been doing this) that I do not receive calls at the same time of day, every day, with the same messages every day. Perhaps, if I keep doing this long enough, most of the calls from the same "commercial entities" will subside.
I cannot and do not guarantee or promise you any success with this tactic; but I am hoping that it will work for me.- Caller: 206-496-0929
