- Sandy replies to Arnold| 1 replyThe Do Not Call Registry is a JOKE! Stop telling people to get on it. I receive MORE calls now that I'm on it, than I ever did before I registered. Believe me...when it comes time to renew....it won't be happening in our home! As for fines, fees etc....who are you kidding? The feds can't even trace these folks because of the spoofed numbers, and even if they could, it wouldn't matter to the morons who are calling. They just pay the fine and keep on keeping on. Pleeeeese....get real "Arnold"......
This is my first time on this site, and I only came to check out the phone #. Personally, I simply ignore the idiots and don't answer my phone. What I find funny are those people who come to this site and say things like: "stop calling me", as if this site can do anything about it! LOL! - RoyCaller id displayed ANNOUCEMENT
I have a land line and I got tired of my phone ringing all the time from clowns like these. I finally bought a Caller Id with ring control. It allows me to input numbers that I know and blocks the rest. Because I don't want other outside calls, It works for me. I can allow or block entire area codes or specific numbers. I work at night and it is great not being woke up by these jerks. You may be able to find different ring controllers on the web but the one I got was from http://www.jfteck.com. I got the second generation controller. I put in the area code for my local area and the numbers of my kids. I blocked all the rest. Man I am so glad to finally get some sleep. Good luck to you guy and gals. I hope you find something that can work for your particular situation. - Eddie HallThis un-solicited call has came here many times in the last 2 months after we moved here

- virtualhorizonGot a call from this number at 11:42 AM yesterday. Caller ID said "ANNOUCEMENT". Yes, it WAS spelled that way! Don't know who they are, didn't answer phone, no message.
- Del replies to SandySandy, if you want off the DNC, you will have to go to the site or call to OPT OUT. The DNC was made permanent a few years back and it eliminated the need for renewal. However, it did create a need to opt out when you no longer need it.
- LorettaJust received a call from 206-496-0929, caller ID says ANNOUNCEMENT. I don't answer any callers that I do not know. They did not leave a message.
- Caller: Announcement
- LynnJust got a call from this number but would not answer. Why do we even have the Do Not Call list? It seems to be a rule that has no meaningful penalties for violation, so all these jerks will keep on calling us.

206-496-0929 - 11/15/12 - FBI security Scam- Caller: Announcement on Caller ID
- tina8525Just got a call from this number. The caller ID said "announcement." I didn't answer. The robo-call did leave a message on my voice mail, which is quite unusual for these kinds of calls. The message claimed we would get a free security system for putting a sign in our yard. Then it said to press whatever number it was if interested. No company name was mentioned, which is always a sign to me that something is probably not right. Also, I believe that it is illegal to have a robo-call without the name of the company being introduced. It's best just to not answer these calls. I quit filing complaints a long time ago. If the number looks unfamiliar, even if it has my state's area code, I just don't answer anymore. It's way easier than getting stressed out over it. And also, I have suspected that by answering when they call it confirms your number is viable and then you get more calls.

- Dave| 1 replyRobocall selling security system. I'm on the national DNCL. I also keep getting this recording from different numbers. I push "9" to stop getting the calls, but they call from different numbers with different names.

- Kwitcherbellyakin replies to DavePressing 9 only let's them know that they have a working number.
What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/robocalls
1. Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list.
2. Consider blocking the number
3. Report it at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
4. Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5. People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office.
Register your phone numbers online at http://www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed).
I have greatly reduced the number of calls to my cell phones by going to my carriers website (Verizon) and they allow me to block up to 5 numbers for 90 days. Since these scum change numbers every 30 I have had a very peaceful time. Call me once shame on you, call me twice shame on me. I also put it in my contacts list under Scum Suckers and assign it NO ring tone so at least after the first call they won't bother me anymore (I have filled all of the numbers in each and am up to Scum Sucker 47 now). This is only a whack-a-mole solution however it is the only one I can offer.
The criminals behind this operation aren't going to pay attention to you asking to be removed from their list. Their calls cost them nothing and they can make thousands of them a day so they have no intention of ever removing someone. When you press a key to talk to them all that is accomplished is to verify that they have a working number. So what is their reason to continue calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam?
It's called the CNAM revenue-sharing program. Here is the explanation direct from the website of one of these operations. http://www.telephonemanagement.net
"Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. Every one of those calls generates revenue for many companies, why not yours?
Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data."
You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their con then it is just icing on the cake for them. These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet.
Write your Congressmen and Senators. We need CRIMINAL penalties against the companies that are profiting from these calls. Follow the money, slap them in prison, no one left to outsource to overseas boiler rooms, problem solved. The government needs to go after them using the RICO act. That will be the only effective means of dealing with this.
Here is an excellent blog site that I found that explains how one company is getting away with this activity.
