- tom| 3 repliesreceived call from person with thick foreign accent telling me that they had proof from their international routers that my "Windows" computer had definitely downloaded many "malicious bots" and had recently become infected with the "Heartbleed virus" but not to worry they had been contracted by Microsoft to help protect my system. They claimed that my system was definitely infected and they would help me clean it up. They started to step me through some processes to prove the infection to me. They had some difficulty with me so they turned me over to deeper tech support I did not yet tell them I don't own a Windows computer. They told me they were from ISecure VAP - they spelled it out for me. Tech support had me go to a web site www.ammyy.com and attempted to get me to download and enable a remote desktop agent. I quickly looked over the site and found a warning of the scam that was actively being perpetrated on me. I told them about the warning and they advised that it was wrong - they were trying to help me. I then told them I would not download any agent software or grant them remote access to my computer. They insisted I cooperate - Then I told them I was a software engineer working for the US Government. - CLICK .... gone.
- Caller: Out of Area
- C.No one was "there" when I first answered - said "hello" again, and man with heavy middle-eastern or Indian accent said something about security issues with my computer. I said that I was not interested, he stayed on the line, and I hung up.

- bam| 1 replyI also got a call from a man with a thick middle eastern accent. He claimed my computer was sending out "messages" that it was infected with "very bad" viruses. When he told me to go to my computer so he could help me I told him I didn't have a computer, and he got upset that I WASTED HIS TIME!! I told him I knew this was a scam, he hung up! I've had several calls like tis and every time they call, it's a different number.

- Not happyI could barely understand the man talking. He said my computer was sending out bad signals and he could walk me through how to repair the problem. He was extremely difficult to understand and every time I told him no he acted more desperate, he was yelling "No! Don't hang up! This is not a sales call! You have a security issue! I can correct your problem! Don't hang up!" I finally had to hang up on him.
- BJ Mackay| 1 replyHave received this call twice, today I answered. Man with Indian accent said "Hello Miss... I am calling from the computer emergency department and we know that your computer is under attack.."
I said "Ohhhh.., wow, that's weird because I do not own a computer!" (Semi true, I have only an iphone right now.)
He hung up on me.
I get at least two (yesterday I had five) calls a day from a "boiler room" from men that barely can speak English- usually An Indian accent. Sometimes we are bored and will give them answers they want to hear.. Like this computer scam. We pretended to do what they asked with a twist... They ask : "Go to your start" We said : "Start? I do not see a start, but the word Quit is there, I clicked Quit... Oh, Okay, the computer is off, now what next?" Then my Dad took another call and they asked something about "Go to your window prompt." He said "Ok, I went to my window fast." They said "What do you see?" My Dad said "Well, it's dark, it is 8pm now." The jerk was confused.. My Dad said "You told me to go to my window prompt- I am standing here, I do not see anything but moths." The guy then said "Stop wasting my time sir!!" My Dad said "Oh, that is not nice, I am trying to follow your instructions. Do not call me anymore then." The guy hung up.
Nothing works... We say "remove our name from your list!" It does not matter. I "hate" them.- Caller: Comes up as "Out of Area"
- Call type: Telemarketer
- BJ Mackay replies to j mcadams| 1 replyWe are on the Do Not Call list too... I think it is worthless now.
