Got a call, ID San Antonio TX. No message left on machine. These type of calls come daily. It appears DoNot Call lists are useless ,scams constant. Yet the banks & big companies want you to use the computer to buy or pay bills & charge you if you refuse. Someone is making money selling phone numbers ,probably banks and corporations.

Continuously getting calls from 210-737-8097 a big scam about computer problems the best thing I did was block their number. Now all they get is a buzzing sound in their ear! Unfortunately, they try after a while, calling from another number - block that one too!

Same guy-same line from security.  He asked how I was today and I said I was fine, but that he must be out of his mind if he thought I was dumb enough to fall for his scam.  He hung up!

Rec'd the same scam call about my computer being infected. I told them I didn't have a computer and they said it was my laptop that was infected. I told them I didn't have a laptop and the guy paused - I guess this wasn't in his script. :-)  He apologized and hung up.

VOIP Caller, heavy accent, telling me that when I use the internet I am downloading "virus" and that he can help me. I told him I would report it to the FCC and not to call again. He began to argue and I hung up.

got a call from someone with an accent and could hear the boiler room calls going in the background because i kept acting as if i couldn't hear him clearly.part of the conversation went like this:
him: good morning i am calling from I Secure, we are receiving reports that your computer is being "infected" every time you go online.
    me: which computer?
him: the one you go online with
me: yes i understand what you are saying but which computer are you talking about, the actual computer?
HIm: shouting--the computer you go online with! (he was getting frustrated already)
me: which computer i get online with?
him: the computer you use to get online to check your email
    me: i don't get online.
him: then how do you check your email??
me: i don't use email, or get online
him---the clicking sound of him hanging up :( guess he didn't want to play anymore :P

it was interesting since he never told me what operating system or what reports he was receiving from what security program. Would not answer where he was calling from or how they got my landline number! we were a victim of a breach at a medical imaging place and they have only my landline number from the few times i have been there. i assume that is what happened. i have been getting these types of calls since the breach.
be careful and make sure you let those family members that are not computer savvy know so they are not duped. my adult child warned me when told about the breach before any calls came in. it was helpful as i would not have known, i would not have allowed remote access, would have called my security application directly for assistance to make sure nothing was going on-which i did after the call and all was okay.
i appreciate all the information  i find about these calls here, it is helpful.
    thank you all for posting.

Caller states I have a computer issue. Error reports are slowing down my system, may be infected they can make my system safe and secure with just a few simple steps allowing their I.T. department  to remove these issues. They have called before so I know its a scam so I frustrate the h**l out of them claiming I don't know my way around a compute r while entering what they want me too I make a lot of mistakes. Since they called me I run up their phone bill. After a while we get to the step where they want you to give them your computers I.D. and I.P. information for "a secure connection" to their I.T. department WARNING WARNING DONT DO IT. if you do you just gave them your computer. tell them in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS NO THANKS AND HANG UP. They will call back insisting you complete the process stating its safe and doing so makes your system safe and secure also.  Calls will stop as your number will get removed from their call list.....

I have been receiving repeated calls from this number on my land line and on my fax line and on my cell phone number.  It is the same middle eastern man every time.  He says he is from Microsoft and my computer is sending error messages to them and he wants to help me solve the issue.  I am not having issues with my computer and I told him this.  I also told him we were on the international Do No Call List.  But he continues to call almost daily.  Please how can I stop these calls?

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I got the very exact phone call and with everything going on in the news I asked him again who are you?  He had broken English and kept asking me about my Computer and I told him to [***] himself and asked him did you hear me go [***] yourself.  I hope they find this [***] and prosecute him. And if he is in the United States deport his ass!

Just received a call from this number.  Asked about security on my computer.  I asked what company he was calling from he said Verizon VD.  Told him his call was illegal as I'm the do not call list.  He then went into how he's trying to help with customer support etc. etc.  Asked what he was trying to sell ... again said he wanted to help with security on computer.  He was pretty good and kept talking - I knew it was a scam but I fear for the those who may be unaware of the hustle.

Thick Indian (I think) accent so not sure what he said.  Clearly reading from a script.  Claimed my computer was infected.  Said I can go online and see the infection.  I said there is no way to see the infection - that's the point of an infection.  He didn't know what I meant.  I hung up.
ASIDE:  If they want to scam people it would be better to use people who speak with understandable English.

Just received a call from these fools. Pretty much the same story. He asked if I was aware of all these issues my computer was having and I asked him if he was aware that I would be posting his number his "international" internet and sharing his number with the police. I'm not sure why he hung up. :)
