I have received several calls from this and they claim to help fix my computer. I was stupid enough to let them go on my computer remotely. I know. They are obviously from India but always give me a common US name like Eric. They said they could help my computer but I would have to pay $350 for a "warranty". I told them I was not going to give them anything and they said that my computer would probably stop working. I don't think they put a virus on it but they did put some kind of program on it that whenever it is restarted a screen similar to Microsoft's error screen pops up and will not go away without imputing a code. I was able to get the code from them but I am still leery of using my computer even though I've run my malware program several times. Hang up on these scammers!

Scammer calling trying to get me to turn over control of my computer.  He had me go to the HTML5 "validator" to demonstrate to me that my computer was infected!  What a hoot!

"You see the errors and warnings when you type www.google.com in to the validator?  That means your computer needs help!"

    http://validator.w3.org

He said he was calling from Austin, Texas, but didn't seem to know any Austin geography.  Go figure!

It's the Vtechsquad----google them---the list of complaints is endless. There is actually one site that offers the computer domain name Vtechsquad.  Over a year ago I called them because they were listed with Mac support, and they claimed to be affiliated.
LOOK THEM UP! THAT'S WHO IS DOING THIS!!!

Got a call from a middle eastern male claiming to be named Frank.  He told me that a virus was being downloaded on my computer and he was calling to help me fix it.  When I told him I knew he was a thief and trying to steal my personal information, he hung up on me.

These calls originate in Asia.  They buy a device, usually connected to a computer located someplace in the US.  Let us choose Missouri.  The device allows them to enter your number in Asia.  The call goes to the Missouri device which forwards the call to you.  If you check with your own phone company, you can buy call-forwarding, which works a little in reverse but the idea is the same.  The scammers are not in the US.

Yet another useless spammer/scammer that didn't want to leave anything on the voicemail.  Glad I didn't take this call.  From what others are saying, this sounds like a scammer that puts malware/adware/spyware on your computer for a price instead of fixing anything as they claim.

Phishing Scam:  calls with vague information. I asked who authorized the call. They said "The Government".  I asked which government. They said "The US Government". The game was afoot. I managed to play games with them for about 5 minutes, got a "supervisor", told him I was with "The Government" (true) and asked which branch had authorized the call. He got confused, and before I could launch into a civics lesson he hung up.

Tried to call the number back, but it is a one way only through San Antonio, TX.

Kept getting calls from San Antonio TX. (210-737-8097). They never leave message. When I answer no one there. On this last call I waited til someone answered on their end...a Middle person  the other end of the line was barely understandable. Very thick middle eastern accent "calling to inform me of security problems on my computer". Asked me if I was on my computer or could get to my computer. I told him it was not possible. He kept saying "I will wait"...and kept saying no it is not possible. Finally, I hung up.  My security software has pop up a couple times prior today with message of some other computer wants to use my computer ...I reject the other computer which was recommended. Guess they are trying to hijack computers to spread their virus or steal identifies or anything else.

Got a call from these fools today, stated they were getting some warning emails from me? He asked me if I was in front of my computer, I said yes then hung up, no call back.

I've had a call before where they were claiming to be from Microsoft I seriously doubt Microsoft would be employing people to fix errors on random peoples computers.( we call tech support, tech support doesn't call us.. that's how it works unless you have some service agreement witch we don't.)

Piss them off! replies to chris
I turned the ringer on my home phone years ago. I can see the caller ID on my TV. My friends and family know to call me on my cell. Anyway, I've been having fun with A holes that call. I lead them on and act like I'm listening to them. I told this guy that I've been having a lot of problems with my PC then act like I don't know if I have an Apple or Microsoft PC. I tie them up as long as I can. I figure that's better than letting them call someone else. Sometimes I call them from the VA so the caller ID says US Goverment then identify myself as a federal agent investigating complaints and tell them to stop calling people in the U.S. and all of their calls are being recorded for prosicution purposes. I'm having fun driving them nuts!!

    Called by Them
Got a call from these clowns today. I just felt like "F***ing" with them so I did. It took 5-10 seconds for someone to start talking and like all others here - with a very heavy SE Asian accent. He said he was calling about my computer and the virus problems it was having and other CRAP like that. I said how that sounds serious and something I should be worried about. he said it was but they had the solution and I could pay them to fix it. Once again I "messed" with him and thanked him for being so nice and kind. I know the worst thing we can do is hang up on them because then they just call someone else. The best thing we can do it keep them on the line for as long as possible because now they can't call someone else and scam them and no doubt these "people" either work on Commission or have to make a certain number of sales every day. So I played around with him for a few minutes and when he said to go to my computer and do something I politely told him I don't have a computer so how can I have any viruses on it when I don't own one. You could hear a pin drop on the other end.......as well as other agents making calls to scan others. He insisted they said I had an issue so I said I would go check and maybe my son's computer had issues. I put him on hold and just left him there. I came back 5 minutes later and "shockingly" he was gone.

As I said - the worst thing we can do is hang up on them because then they just call someone else. Prolong the call for as long as you can knowing you are hurting this company because now the number of calls that agent can make it shrunk or he has to stay longer.
