I received a letter from this firm stating I had missed toll fees from 2007!!  I had never received any of the notifications of a missed toll and the extra charges were more than $200.  I contacted the firm and was told by an agent that I pretty much had to pay the entirety of the fee or risk being sent to collections and/or lose my license.  I told the agent that I would like to contact the state of Illinois to ensure the charges were legit and she told me it would be a waste of my time - "They wouldn't event talk to me." She could help me out by taking 5% off my balance.  After going back and forth with the manager, who told me that I had until 5 p.m. the same day to call and settle my balance, I contacted the state of Illinois Tollway.  The Tollway folks were way more kind and gracious and were able to give me information that confirmed the charges were accurate, but that the extraneous fines were not.  I would HIGHLY recommend contacting the tollway directly and NOT go through this firm.  Working with the Tollway, I was able to confirm I wasn't being scammed and ended up saving more than $200.

i just recieved a notice of attempt to collect unpaid fines from Arnold Scott Harris in CHicago- the tolls were 5 occaisions my 17 year son was visiting me from Omaha. the amount for each toll was $.80.
now this firm is attempting to collect $345.00 from me for these 5 violations even though I was never notified that they even existed until now. This appears to be a scam of some sort. I dont mind paying the State for my sons indiscretions but this is unbelievable.
is there a watchdog organization of some sort that can assist me in suing these people for harrasement?

Do you know if your license has been suspended yet ?  I was just told that I owe 35,000.00 in tollway violations ??!!!  They said my license could be suspended and my wages garnished.  Has this happened to anybody?

These people are a bit questionable to say the least.  Really frustrated by $2.00 in unpaid tolls being bumped up to $283!  They have no proof of notification on pictures from the tollway.  I asked if they use certified mail and they said no.

There payment website does not work using Google Chrome or Firefox browsers which makes me nervous about the security.

Feel helpless to these people.  Chicago should be ashamed.

We keep receiving harassing phone calls from this agency on behalf of the Illinois Toll Authority. Two years ago, the Illinois Toll Authority sent my father a fine notice for a missed toll. The problem was my father didn't drive his car anymore due to having Alzheimers and was in a nursing home. When we investigated, we realized that the toll authority had transposed the numbers and mistook his old license on his car for someone else's. We called the toll road and they verified the error - on their part - and told us it was cleared up. 18 months later we started getting calls from this law firm. THEY ARE OBNOXIOUS. We explained the situation and they continued to call. We have been harassed and want this to stop!

Miss Davidson is the person who spoke to my husband this morning.

This 'law firm' continues to call my house daily.  When I pick up, an automated message tells me that all agents are busy and that I should call them (!!!!).  Unbelievable!

Finally, after weeks of this harrassment, I get on the phone with an 'agent' who tells me that I owe $500 to the Illinois Tollway authority (which I don't...I'm a transponder customer and cleared up the 2 missed tolls...$2.00, not $500...more than 6 months ago).

So not only are these people harassing me, but they don't have accurate information on the 'debt'...and it appears they are just making up the number owed.

So, they need to be held accountable for their shoddy and dishonest business practices, and for harassing debt collection practices. The State of Illinois should NOT reward this type of behavior.

These are the RUDIEST bunch of "professionals" I have ever talked to!!!!!  I had to speak to 3 ppl PLUS a supervisor to get things resolved.  They have no phone etiquette, are nasty, and make stupid comments that do not pertain to the matter at hand.  I end up paying the debt (from 5 yrs ago!!) so I wouldnt speak to these IDIOTS EVER AGAIN...
I wish I had done my research on them before coughing over $300 because I dont even believe that debt even belonged to me!!!  However, the relief of not having to deal with unprofessional, rude, condesending, office of jerks was worth my $$. Ughhhhhhhhh

This is not a real legit legal office. You can open up an empty building and call yourself a law firm.It is not illegal to call yourself a law firm, but it is to practice as one. Thats the trick they have done. They ARE NOT a law firm. They are a typical bill collector. They have no legal bound what so ever.Tell them to phuk off.
Dont give them anything. I actually answered as a police offical and they refused to send me a fax of their business license. Hmm go figure.

I rec'd a letter paid and was told no conf. no. of pymt could be provided, and to use bank statements. I am afraid this could be a scam? Also, the rep. was unable to provide valuable info etc. that could prove legitimacy. I too want to complain, I hope it's not to late!

I gets calls about my pass due payments other than that this company is alright with me. Helped get off the boot list when my car was booted they put me one a payment plan and have been fine since cause the boot man roll heavy in my hood. And for you all that don't know what a boot man is a city of chicago worker that drives around scanning cars and if you are on the boot list which means you are behind on paying parking tickets they will put a big steel yellow thing around your wheel so your car can not move and you have 24 hours to go pay your tickets before they tow your car.

I actually live in the Baltimore, MD area.  A different law firm by the name of Linebarger, Goggan, and something else was initially the collection agency for my parking ticket payment plan.  Not even one month after I initiated the payment plan with them the account changed hands to Arnold, Scott, Harris Law Firm, apparently of Chicago.  I was curious as to the connection between a law firm in Chicago  and my parking tickets in Baltimore.  Apparently there are two brothers Harris, one of them is in Baltimore and runs the firm Harris and Harris.  I went to the office in Baltimore and it was empty. I've been there several times and never has the door been unlocked or they been open for business.  The reason I went there in the first place is that I don't trust these collection agencies.  The first firm I was dealing with bungled every step of the process.  They repeatedly got the information on the payment contract that I was supposed to sign incorrect.  When I sent it back the lady had made the changes with white out, sent it back to me and actually expected me to sign it.
When the account did change hands the next month, February (I had only made one payment by this time) I wasn't even notified.  The only reason I found out before it was too late and I defaulted is because I called before I went to the office to make the payment and the secretary told me then.  So I go to the proper city department ands stand in line for an hour and find out t hat this new law firm Harris and Harris are in charge of my account.  When I called them they had no clue what they were doing.  That's when I tried to go to their office to make the payment in person and get a receipt and I couldn't.  I relented and submitted a payment over the phone, I had to give them my Credit Card information.  ANd they managed to mess that up.  The payment never went through, and it wasn't because I had insufficient funds or anything like that, there was no record of the transaction on my bank statement.  And because I had a feeling that something like that would happen, I would call every once in a while to ask why it hadn't been processed.  Their response was that they were backed up.  Now they're trying to tell me that I have defaulted on my payment because of their screw up.  And what are you supposed to do against a law firm?  What recourse is their against a law firm/collection agency that represents the government?  I don't have the resources to sue.  And they know that the people they deal with don't have those resources and that's why they treat you like garbage, that's why they don't answer the phone, or are all of a sudden not at their desk all the time.  Their willing to ruin your life.
