- birdlady replies to tm| 9 repliestelemarketing calls of any kind can only be made between the hours of 8 am and 9 pm anytime before or after and you can sue the company
- MarieThis number (402-952-4444) has been calling my cell phone. I thought telemarketers weren't suppose to call your personal cell? I am being charged for their call, how rude!

- Rob replies to Bull Gator| 1 replyYou are lying. Once Gallup calls your household or cell phone up to 6 times, whether it be over the course of one day or 3 weeks, after 6 times, your number is automatically deleted from the "list." ....And by the way... there is no such "list." The dialer is an automatic dialer in which it generates random numbers up to 50,000/ minute.
I don't mind answering questions about Gallup.... But I really hate it when people get on here and completely lie about "their" experience with the Gallup Poll. They keep records of all calls made, and in what time zone, how many times a residence or cell has been called, what state they're in, among many other things... Oh yeah...and everything is recorded too. You wouldn't believe the crap people "claim." Whining and b/tching about something that never took place, just to receive attention or sympathy from another individual, who is ignorant on the subject.
I've heard every excuse in the book... When you lie to a Gallup interviewer....They know you're not only a liar, but a b/tch for lying.... When if you just said no in the first place, you wouldn't have to be bothered by so "many" phone calls.
If phone calls are really such a problem, perhaps you should think about getting rid of your phone.
--Rob - Rob replies to KELLY| 3 repliesObviously you didn't read the "No-Call Registry" Terms of Service. Gallup isn't selling anything...therefore they do NOT apply to the No call Registry. Do some reading next time...and then blame yourself for your own faults, rather than blaming it on someone else.
- Bemused replies to Consumer| 2 repliesI had a call today on my mobile phone/cell and I live in the UK! I didn't answer and have no idea why they called...
- Sean replies to jbonham| 3 replies"The right to be in business???" SURELY you aren't saying that that gives ANY business the righ to call my personal phone!!!! Because morally, NO business has a default right to call me, visit me or even email me. That's absurd. Too bad our laws are clearly not set-up to protect us private citizens.
As for who these calls are from, don't assume that ANY number you SEE is the true number of who's actually calling you. Scammers know how to EASILY disguise thir number -- and the only way to confirm the truth is to call it back -- which I'm NOT going to do, because if they are a scammer, you just told them that you're a live number.
Again, our laws either suck and/or have virtually no teeth in them. - Wheezy replies to BemusedThey obviously want the opinion of a Brit!!
- Wheezy replies to Ashley| 5 repliesGallup Poll is one of the oldest polling organizations in the USA and they call to get your opinion on various topics. They usually ask a few questions to screen you so that they are sure you are eligible to be included in the poll. Pollsters are not covered by the Do Not Call list since they don't sell anything. If you want to be taken out of their database you have to answer the call and ask them to remove you, which by law, they must do.
- Top ChefThis number has now called me 5 nights in a row. It is impossible to control who calls you but we can control whom we pick up. My advise just ignore it, or pick it up if you must and disconnect it right away.
Annoying yes but its really all we can do, our government isnt concerned enough about this stuff, its just they way our society has allowed things to come to.- Caller: Unknown
- MikeI am from Germany, bought a T-Mobile Prepaid Card. Gave the number only to 2 guys from the company, did not use it elsewhere - and received the calls from this number.
Really interesting! Be happy to be back in germany ... without disturbing calls ...
:) - me againCall was supposedly from Gallup, but anybody can say they're from anywhere on the phone and it can't be verified. For all I know, it's Charles Manson on the other end so I do not ever - ever! - give ANY personal information whatsoever to anyone who calls me unsolicited. Anybody would be insane to do so. I might give them the time of day (literally) or the outdoor temperature if they sounded really desperate for some info, any info. But that's it.
Like everybody else in America, I've been besieged over the last few months on both my land line and cell by those bogus "polling" calls purporting to offer a Bahamian cruise if you hand over your credit card info. SHeeyyah, riiiiight. Every sleazy outfit in the book, it seems, it saying they're doing "polling" now to get around the DoNotCall restrictions.
There is NO way to tell this is the real Gallup doing legitimate research so until they can verify they are who they say they are, I will assume they aren't.- Caller: Gallup

- TregrI just ask them to hold for a "sec" and then put them on hold. After 3-5 minutes I pick up to see if they are still on the line. It's about 50/50. I then ask them who they are calling for. "John Jones". Hang on for a "sec" and repeat the process. I don't get all that many calls anymore.
