They've called our house 6 times today, asking for my husband.  When I tell them he is not here, they hang up immediately.  The last time I was irritated and asked what they were calling for, and they hung up.

This is annoying.  I got a couple of calls from this number.  I didn't answer either times, but they didn't let the ringing go all the way through.

I noticed this call on my ID today and am very frustrated.  The number of companies harassing me seems to be piling up!  I tried to Google CI Institute and numerous companies and organizations pop up; so who knows who these people are!  I have never signed up for online schooling as was mentioned by previous posters.  How did they get my number?  We're on the Do Not Call List!

I was not answering them, at first. Once I'd had enough, I started answering, after about 10 calls, I got to talk to someone. He said he was calling about The Career Institute. He said I must have out something on the internet. I DID NOT! He said he would take me off "the list", we'll see. I think someone is F#&*ing with me.

I found this about The Career Institute

    Quoted from   https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-801-642-0240/6

"I am the VP of Sales for One on One Marketing, and the calls that you are receiving are from our call floors.  The calls are actually coming from a sister company that we own, called The Career Institute.

First of all, let me apologize for any and all annoyances that are being caused by our call floors.

Second, let me explain why we are calling you.  We provide education leads for several of the top online universities in the country.  We are simply calling you to verify and confirm your interest in taking online college classes.

The only reason that we believe that you have an interest is because you responded to one of our offers that say,
"Earn your entire degree online!  Click 'yes' to speak with a counselor from one of the top online universities in the country.  By selecting 'yes' you will be contacted by a specialist from the Career Institute within the next 24 hours"

We give our "offer" to third-party vendors who try and drive traffic to the offer.  Almost always, these third-party vendors will offer a free incentive to people if they are willing to take a survey and look at a lot of different offers.  Our offer, about online education, would just be one of many different offers.

Like I stated above, before we actually submit your lead to a university, we call you first to verify and confirm your interest, as well as, make sure that you meet the universities' minimum requirements.

Now, we call all of our leads twice a day, up to 12 times.  The first 4 calls are coming from one of our call floor that is hand dialing the leads.  This floor lets each call ring 25 seconds before moving on.  The last 8 calls are made by our other call floor with an automated dialer that lets the phone ring 21 seconds.

If you are not interested and would like the calls to stop before the 12th attempt, then you can do one of the following:

    1. Answer your phone and tell us that you are not interested.
Our call floor reps do not even rebuttal.  We simply say, “Okay great, have a good day.”

    2. Call us back and let us know that you are not interested.
My team that takes inbound calls will say, “I will take care of that, have a great day.”
Please note that our reps are trained to pick up and say, “This is _______, how can I help you?”

    3. You can also contact my assistant.  Her name is Tiffany and her email is tiffany@cilearning.com.  Simply include your phone number in the body of the text with a subject line of “Please Do Not Call”.

    Thanks!

I just called back and it finally went through.  I spoke to a very sweet woman named Kristin and she happily added my name to the Do Not Call list.  It was very simple.  Hopefully she did it though.  I even asked a few times if I would not be called back.  She said it would take two days at the most for my number to register.

I called Verizon to see if I could have this number blocked, and they said they are unable too.  However, they recommended that I go to www.donotcall.gov.  You are able to file a complaint if you are on the Do Not Call list.

[***] people call two or three times a day.  This is even after I told them to stop calling here, ever since that day they call more often.  I finally called back, got a hold of some lady that said she would take us off the list, guess what, those [***] called back later that night.

I receive calls from this number at least two times a day.  I have caller ID. When I try to call the number back, I get no answer and then the number give a signal as if it is off the receiver. I am tired to getting these calls and wish they would stop. I answered the call once and said nothing, they hung up and proceeded to call back. I did not answer.

You get calls from this number because someone signed up for offers (to get  "free" stuff from certain websites, which work by the way) using a random phone number, which happened to be your number.  I know because I do it too and like an idiot I used my own phone number the last time I did and now I get calls from it.
