#1 This is in fact the number for social security. Having said that, to make sure when you answer, if they are saying they are from social security, please ask them a security question to that only they would know. They wanted my bank routing # as I needed direct deposit but before I gave that out, I made them tell me the name of my lawyer. The gentlemen went into my file and gave a correct response. Always verify who you are talking to. Have a blessed day :)

Same call wanted to verify my address said they were sending me a worksheet that needed filled out about my work history. Ugh

I called social security about a call I received from this number.
Social security said there was no records of them trying to call me and if they wanted to contact me they send it in the mail first.
They told me they believed it was a scam.

Got a call from this number today at 11:04AM. Did not recognize the number but says its from Gwynn Oak, MD. If they are SSA scammers, why is this allowed to go on for so long? Shouldn't they be shut down? Also, when are cell phone carriers going to start to provide Caller ID on numbers? I think we are long past due of this service so to help stop scammers, especially considering the level of fraud these days. Why is this acceptable?

Where is the call from

Got a call from this number this morning on a Saturday no less.  Some of you say to not be paranoid!!!  This is the age when you need to be paranoid about getting unsolicited phone calls claiming this and/or that.  SSA actually warns us not to give out any info and to call their official number (800) 772-1213 to verify.  Better safe than sorry.

Why are you replying to a message from 2009? Do you honestly think that person will see your comment? Oh, and why did you come to a phone number look-up site anyway since you apparently already know to whom this number belongs?

If it was SSA then why once I called back the answering machine says that I have received a non working number.

Caller ID stated: 11/17/18, 11:36 AM, US Government, 410-965-1234. I picked up the phone and no one was there. I checked the number on the internet and it says it is for the Social Security Admin. How can one tell if it is a spoofed number or the real deal. The scammers have taken all the trust out of what used to be a simple phone conversation. Sad state our country is in.
