Have a technician remove the remote access software and remove any malware that might have been placed on it.  If you used a card to pay, call the lost card number and report it lost.  Watch your account and report the transaction as fraudulent when it goes through.  After you are sure your computer is clean, change all your passwords and account numbers.  Don't answer the phone for unknown numbers, any more. Change the number if you can. They'll call back and try it again or another scam, fake debt, advance fee loan scam, fake grant, etc.

    AM from the NW
I, too, repeatedly receive calls from this number, claiming that they are calling to follow up on a sofware problem.  Several times they have represented themselves as if they were from Microsoft.  The callers have what seem to be Indian or Pakistani accents.  Each time, I have asked to be removed from their call list, and each time, they simply hang up.  My caller ID says the call is from Voxbone SA, which is probably a way to disguise the true number and make it appear as if it is originating from the U.S. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission -- it's very easy to do and will only take a few minutes.  I encourage you to do the same: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

Yes, that seems to the basic script. I had the same experience with them.  Too bad there wasn't a sharp whistle nearby that I could blow into the phone after I told them I wanted to be removed from their call list.

    Frustrated with unwanted calls
I just received a call from this number - there was a voice singing like a little girl and when I said hello a few times, they hung up.  The caller ID said it was from VOXBONE SA - do not know how to block calls on my phone but will not answer calls from this number or ID again.

At first there was nobody there when I answered. Then a guy with a heavy Indian accent said he was calling about my computer. I didn't say anything. He kept saying hello?  I said I don't want anything you are selling and hung up. After reading other comments I guess he was about to ask me about giving him control of my computer. Would anyone actually do this?

Got this call at 11PM. He said it was an emergency with my computer. I said it is not on. He said he understands it is not powered up. I asked where he is from. He said...The Windows computer emergency center. I asked ...wondows? As in Microsoft? Yes,was his reply. I said I have a mac. LOL he said sorry and hung up. If I had been bright eyed and not ready to crash, I would have had more fun. I am sorry there are those that fall prey to this.

For about the last two weeks now, usually in the evening hours, I have been receiving phone calls (yes, numerous Phone calls); from "Global Techies" - call came from Las Vegas, Nevada area 510.943.3040. This company - "Global Techies" states that they have a contract with Microsoft Windows and that they have received our IP address through Microsoft reporting that there has been "vicious virus junk files unloaded into our computer." The man from Mubai, India named "Jerry Johnson" has a very thick Indian accent. Mr. Johnson wanted me to immediately stop what I was doing and have me immediately go to the computer "in question" so he could walk me through the problem. When I again told this man that I was not willing to go to my computer, he asked if he could call me back at 2:00 PM "exactly" tomorrow to try and discuss this further, after reading all above comments, I will choose not to answer further unwanted calls from the aforementtioned number or company.

"Microsoft" cares about me so much that they have horrible phone connection and background noise to tell me that my computer. Instead of telling him that the police had told me about them, and having him hang up instantly, I played along. He told me to use my computer to go to ShowMyPc.com, a known malware and virus infection hosting scum operation. After I strung him along for ten minutes, without actually getting to his website, telling him I didn't understand and the computer crashed several times I finally hung up on him.

Second day I got a call from 510-943-3040. Strong Jamaican accent, said he was calling from Microsoft. Told him I didn't give a [***], I was on the NO CALL REGISTRY and he should deal with me by phone if he wanted anything.
