This number keeps on calling me 10 times now in the past 2 weeks.  I answered once and they told me they could lower my interest rate on my credit card.  I asked them what credit card company they were calling from and they hung up on me.

No one here is calling you. The party who is calling you is not looking at your post on this website. We do not know who they are and cannot tell them to stop calling you.

I understand companies being hired to conduct surveys for corporations. Over time, I have participated in some surveys-- but not over the phone. I've been selected to participate in person because in some way I fit the profile a company might be looking for-- and I have been paid. I have *never* been paid for a phone survey.
Beyond that, however, FMR calls EVERY SINGLE DAY and most often twice. *That* is annoying and it's even more annoying because there is no message left.

I can't tell you how many times I have blocked different numbers from FMR from calling me over the years.  I am really pissed and today even more so.  My father is rather ill and these [***] are calling from my local area code and when the phone rings I panic because I think someone is trying to get a hold of me from the hospital or something.  These [***] don't care though.

If you go online, to their website: http://fmrassociates.com/did-you-receive-a-call-from-fmr/
Page through all the FAQ's and the very bottom gives you the option to have your number removed.  You don't have to type in your name....just your number.   Click send.  It says that it may take a day or two, to remove your number.  I just did that, so hopefully the calls will stop.

Reference to phone number 520-290-3741 from FMR. FMR Associates, Inc. is a company calling people to take a survey. What kind of survey, I do not know, as this robo call was blocked by my phone. If you go to their web site http://fmrassociates.com/did-you-receive-a-call-from-fmr/, you can have your number removed. (I opted out - guess will see if they call back.)

I checked the National Do Not Call Registry web site to see if these types of calls were exempt from the Do Not Call List, and here is what I found.

The National Do Not Call Registry does not limit calls by political organizations, charities, or telephone surveyors.

FMR is a criminal enterprise pretending to be a debt collector, located in Western New York State, world's #1 capital for crooks.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Well my dear ML, if it was only the occasional survey company that called us all I'm sure none of us would be rude, or have any reason to be rude.  However, that is not the case.  Millions of people get unwanted phone calls multiple times a day, and it's been going on for year unrelentingly.  So if our patience is at end, you will forgive us.
