These people call a good bit,  always changing their number.  They want to lower my credit card rate, which would be great if I HAD a credit card!   What goofs!  They've been blocked...

Just called.  My caller ID said Member Services.  I always check this website before blocking.  Thank you to all who respond.  It helps us all.  Number now blocked!  PS I can block 200 numbers and do not hesitate to do so.

They called me twice today. Did not answer.

I think last year I finally asked to speak to a manager. Sure like the person I spoke to was a 'manager'...
Anyway this was when they were still leaving messages ...to lower my credit card rates.
I basically said; "If I wanted your help don't you think I would have picked up and asked for it? Would you please remove my number from your system." Well that worked for about a year.

Now I just don't answer any calls that have just City and State in the ID, because it is either these twits or some other telemarketer wanting to confirm the back brace I ordered (not), or sell me a home security system that all my neighbors apparently have, or wanting to 'fix' my computer.

Who needs a call blocker? I don't answer any calls that have Unavailable, Unknown, Out of Area, Private, Survey or Charity (or known politicians)  in my caller ID.
I only answer numbers I recognize. All else goes to the answering machine which now states;
"Hello....   Identifiable important messages will be returned."
And most don't bother to leave a message when they hear that - if they haven't robo hung up before then.

OH NO!  Robo-Rachel from Card Holder Services is out of retirement.  Got to admit that she has a nice voice but unfortunately she is still spewing the same old garbage about a reduced rate on my credit card.  Amazing that there are still enough people out there that are falling for this scam that it is still profitable to keep running it.  Anyway at the end of the message another recorded robo-voice came on and said press 1 to talk to someone.  I pressed 5 and it repeated the message.  Kept on doing that for awhile to see what would happen.  Usually when I do that it works for 2 or 3 times and then disconnects the line.  In this case as long as I kept pressing something other than 1 it kept repeating the message.  When I had to leave I left the phone off the hook to see what would happen.  It finally disconnected.  Oh well, I'm sure Rachel will call back with her great credit card offer again so I will get another chance.

Said call from Arizona. They left a message that was half cut off. It said this was my final notice and something about lowering an interest rate. Spam.

Does anyone actually fall for this scam? If you press 1 they prompt you for your credit card number. You are not even getting scammed by a real person. They sell your credit card number to whoever will pay them. NO CREDIT CARD COMPANY uses a service to lower your finance rate. Think about it!

Who needs a call blocker?

1. Those of us who get LEGIT calls from area codes from which a lot of the spam calls originate (617, 978 Boston) and need to separate the two.  All the spam calls I can block are less times I need to run to the phone for criminals.
2.  Those of us who run businesses out of our homes where we field calls from all over the country and therefore cannot simply ASSume *all* calls from unknown numbers are 'bad.'

Guess what?  Not everyone lives in 'your' world.  Some people have actual lives that are filled with diversity and people beyond their little patrician borders.

One ring hangup call from this number.  Good to know I 'dodged a bullet' this time.  Will block.  Thanks to all the civil, reasonable, and unarrogant people who posted real info here.

I do love your way of attempting to "move the mountain".  Who in  their right mind thinks that DNC is worth the time it takes to sign up???

If you want to get calls and not be able to tell if they're legit or not (which, because legit callers FOLLOW the DNC), that's your issue. You give no reason for your wording, so you're not one to talk!

No message , didn't pick up. I'd said local. Don't think so.

Calling about my credit card to lower my rates, but didn't identify which company are card. Scam. Block or ignore this number.
