- BigA replies to Anonymous| 3 repliesYou need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I asked to speak with a manager, and then asked the manager for his FAA number to which he replied he does not know what that is... They are a scam. They are calling from outside the Country and are a SCAM number trying to get money. I have called the FBI on this number. The FBI has told me to inform everyone I know about these types of numbers, to NOT give out ANY personal information, and if they ask you if you can her them, DO NOT respond .. simply HANG UP... If you say "yes" they can use it against you

About three years ago, I did have a Capitol One acct go to collection. However, I paid that in full with that agency. Looks like they sold my account as active to THIS agency. I will block them now, and find the paperwork for that account.

Thanks for this information, but can you fill in a few blanks for me please. When you mentioned if they ask if you can hear them, do not respond as they can use this against you. Please let me know how they can use this against u. Also, what is an FAS #, and who should have one? If they have a US Area Code, how do u know they're calling outside of the US? Lastly, when to call police/FBI? Thanks for your help. These guys are so sleezy. - Jo AnnI just reported my calls yesterday. I blocked their number. Since then (today) they have called 4 more times and it's only 2 pm PST. Do they ever give up??!! This will be my second report.
