- If it is USAA Why Don't They Know my ZipGot a call from this number, asked about people on card then wanted me to enter my zip code. Something is wrong if they are calling me and want that info. Hung up.

- dont be trickedThe people here saying it is really USAA are all liars part of the scam.
The number 800-272-9440 has a caller ID of "TOLL FREE CALL" and then a robot script tries to get you to reveal personal information to "verify your account" !!!!
HAHAHAHAHAH
if it was REAL, it would have a real caller ID.
if it was real it would know your name, credit card number and billing address and not ask you for it!
It is a scam, and the people here saying it is real are all the same fake scam artist angry at web sites like this.
CALL USAA to check if there is any fraud notices or activities, do NOT talk to this fake scam artist.
I called USAA and they said they never tried to call me.- Caller: TOLL FREE CALL
- DanI called the customer service number instead and was told that it was actually USAA trying to call me on that number to verify purchases. I was transferred to the Fraud Dept and they wanted to verify a small purchase (less that $10) that turned out to be a purchase I didn't make. I though they would be interested in a couple of large purchases I made but they must know some purchases can raise a red flag. USAA is a great company and I've been with them for a long time. Got everything straightened out and am glad I didn't ignore the call thinking it was a scam.

- USAA MEMBERWe received the automated call today. Hung up and called USAA who told us it was a phishing scam. DO NOT give anyone calling from this number your personal information. Use the number on the back of your card.
- Caller: Unknown Phishing Scam
- USAA_UserValid USAA automated call about possible credit card fraud. Asks for personal info to ID you so sounds suspicious before connecting to real person. You can easily look up and call back on published USAA number.

- USAA Customer replies to Annoyed as well| 2 repliesDo NOT call this number back. I received a call as well as a fake text message alert about the "fraud". I called the number back but it did not automatically recognize who I was (which USAA always does because my number is in my profile) so I hung up and called the USAA customer service line I have in my contacts.
I was told that the call was a FAKE. In fact, there was no fraud at all and the text was warning me about a card with last 4 digits that don't match any of my cards. Do not fall for it and call them! - DaveI got a call from them today. I know it is a fraud call because I do not have a USAA credit card. They are now blocked.

- VirginiaI just got a call from them.
I have no USAA credit card. There is absolutely no reason they would need to call me.- Caller: Unavailable
- VirginiaI have no USAA account, therefore it must be a phishing scam.
For those who DO have an account with USAA, call the number on the back of your card instead of answering these calls. That way you can safely find out if there is actually a problem with your account, or just a phishing scam.- Caller: Unavailable
- Anonymous replies to Max CreweYou got screwed LOL
- TerryI called USAA using the phone number on BACK of the Card. USAA said the voice mail message was NOT from USAA. Only call USAA using phone numbers you know are legit.... that being the one on back of the card. Most legit Card companies will always say that as well. If you call an unknown number NEVER give any personal information even if it sounds like they know partial information about you.

- Angry Soldier of Misfortune!!This is USAA's Fraud Detection Department. I received a call because a charge of 3000 dollars appeared on my credit card from a company in Texas (XOLO shoes). And, I listed their name because they didn't bother to return my phone calls (10 or more) about these fraudulent charges. I wanted to make sure they did not ship anything so ridiculous to some scummy hoe looking to cash in some [***] shoes. But, to no avail. Anywho. My advice to anyone who is still reading this is to set your own alerts and to request an email AND a text message for any charge over 5 dollars. Because, the bad guys love to try a small amount that you could easily overlook and then they seem to go for the throat afterwards. However, in my case they seemed to have some insider information to go after 3 grand right out the gate.
PS I HOPE USAA DID NOT GET HACKED AND THEY ARE KEEPING IT A SECRET!!!! I say that because my spouse was also a victim two weeks ago and we do not share a common computer, store, business, or residence/state. Food for thought, take care.- Caller: USAA FRADULENT CHARGES DEPT.
- JoseIt's USAA! They were checking on several recent card purchases. It's legit!
- Carole USAA Member in MD replies to HHUNExactly Right. This is a legit call from USAA. Those claiming it's a phishing scam are making nonsense claims. USAA did a good job calling me to verify a fraud attempt to use my card at a place across the country this morning. Thank you USAA. Unfortunately it also means my card will be deactivated and replaced, but better than fraudulent charges.
- Adam WIt's legit. USAA fraud prevention. I didn't trust it, and so I called the number on the back of my USAA credit card. Sure enough someone in Spain had ahold of my card number and tried to use it.

- USAA MemberI'm not sure if this actually *is* the USAA fraud number. It may be; it may also be a clever thief looking to trick you into giving out your PIN, SSN, or other information once they have your card and phone #s (many stores will associate your card and your phone number as part of a 'loyalty' program, for example, and Home Depot just admitted they lost a huge amount of 'personal data' to hackers). The best bet if you get a call like this is to check your credit card history, and then call their customer service directly. I called USAA myself, and someone was using my card online at walmart.com, but the customer service associate couldn't verify that anyone had called me. Never give financial or personal information to someone who calls *you*. Always find the legitimate number yourself and initiate that call.
- Caller: USAA, maybe?
- SA replies to USAA Customer| 1 replyI received this call as well. It was from USAA and it was a fraud alert on my CC. However, instead of calling this number back, I called the number on the back of my CC instead. There were two fraudulent charges. One that day and one the day before. If you get a call from this number and a voicemail that says its from USAA you definitely want to give them a call back (on their regular number). The longer you wait the bigger problem that fraud can be.
- Major MattUSAA fraud called, I had made some out of the normal purchases for my account. verified it was me that made the purchases.

- Dave replies to usaa userI got a call from this number today saying they were USAA. I was suspicious and hung up...but after a quick on-line search I found the number listed on USAA's official website, as part of their fraud department. Not sure why some people are saying it's a scam. If it is, these people did some crazy hacking job to get the number on USAA's actual website. The USAA Facebook page also says this is a legit USAA number. I'm curious why some people are saying it's a scam.
