- Glenn replies to SaviorYes, it seems this number is legit. But take this guys' and others' advice - call the number on the back of your card instead of calling this or any other number back directly. If there's a problem they'll transfer you to the right department.
- JI got a message on my VM saying there was fraud on my acct. Called the number back, sounded sketchy. Called USBANK, they verified that there was a block on my acct. Told me the number was legit. I called number on the back of my card and they transferred me right back to the original number. I had three fraud charges over 100$. So, Its NOT a scam, but always call your bank first to be safe

- nobodyThis number is legitimate and they are from Visa. They called us twice to inform us of a fraudulent transaction on our credit card today. We were not home and didn’t call this number back. We instead called the number on the back of the card. They verified this number was from them. Remember that phone numbers can be spoofed so don’t give out any personal information if asked as they already have the information needed. Someone asking for SS numbers should be a solid give away that the call is a fraud and the number was spoofed.

- dogloverI am the most suspicious and careful person when it comes to these calls (even if they are just valid sales and marketing companies) and am on the Do Not Call list...when I receive an unwarranted call, I either pick up and hang right up on them or do not pick up at all...I then do the research to find out about the origin of the call...but this call was LEGIT and I was sooooo impressed that they caught charges (and rejected them) and called me within seconds of them...also, they stopped a large charge attempt in Dublin last night!! All of the charges were attempted in another country and one was a larger online charge attempt...the other 2 were under a $1 which is what these criminals do to hit a card to see if it is an active valid card number...then they will start making larger purchases. I actually did not originally pick up the call from USBank...but instead came here first and did the research on the number and then called them back. I told them right away I was not giving them any cc number or ssn...They were so kind and totally understood and validated it was me simply by my phone number and DOB. Since the credit card in question was my holy grail of cards AND since it is Christmas time, they are rushing me another one and I will have it in 2 business days. They were super professional and definitely are the Fraud Dept at USBank.

- dogloverP.S. Amending my above comment with the fact that the lady (Jan) said if you ever uncomfortable with a call like this, call the number on the back of the credit card instead...ALSO, when I didn't pick up, they actually left a vm which we all know is rare with a scam call...BUT I agree, do NOT ignore this call and call the number on the back of your card if you are not comfortable with the legitimacy of this phone number...but do call!

- interestingReceived a call but no message 2 times yesterday from number. Called number back from different phone. Automated message stated "Card Services" - Did not mention which agency so is it a credit card or a bank - HMMM??? Asked for telephone number so played along - paused, then asked for zip code - again played along (funny didn't recognize the zip codes I use) - again another HMMMM?. After that, hung up and checked on-line only to find this is supposedly US Bank which I don't bank at - interesting piece of information. Whether it is legitimate or not - ALWAYS use the numbers on the back of your cards. If it is legitimate because fraud is such a huge issue - in every instance that there has been potential activity on my accounts I receive a personal call or atleast an automated message stating this is from "such and such a place please call the number on the back of your card between these times related to potential fraudulent activity on your card, within minutes of the transaction alerting me to the activity. As a cosumer you need to be aware that scammers try to stay one step ahead. If this was legitimate to you I am happy that it was resolved. If it is not legitimate and people are feeding into people's paranoia to get a buck - shame on you!

- BuggirlAfter receiving a voicemail from this number, I called the number on the back of my REI Visa. I confirmed with them that there were fraudulent charges on my credit card. NEVER during the process with the representative did I have to give any part of my SSN or DOB. They cancelled my card and are sending a new one. I didn't verify this number with the representative, but I believe it's safe to assume it's legitimate since I did have fraudulent charges.

- MikeI got a call from this number. Was suspicious, but I called the number on the back of my bank card and found out that this IS a LEGIT number from US Bank. They had a hold on my card because of a suspicious charge from the UK. But it was from a company that I do business with so they released the hold and I marked the number as a contact in my phone system. I am a US Merchant Marine Officer and travel outside the country and am very well informed about fraud problems with cards as I have 2 cards compromised, over the past 20 years or so. I understand the confusion that exists over this number, but it is legit. But, just so you know, I have in the past refused to give out information to even legit calls, until I called back to a number that I knew for a fact was a valid number. Better safe than sorry. The folks that call who are legit will not have a problem with your calling back and if you want to be safe, do so. But don't get all wound up over it.

- Matt replies to JimYou are a very stupid person. Do you really think all these posts came from people involved in a scam? The call I got was automated that listed a date, amount and location and asked me to confirm or deny the charge. You get three options 1,2 or 3 so how is that a scam? It didn't ask for ANY personal information. It's from US Bank.
- Matt replies to dThe one's that say it is legit.
- ReggieI got a call from a different number, telling me they were the US Bank Fraud Detection department, and to call this 800 number. I called it, then felt like it was a scam of some sort. But, I called the number on the back of my card and was forwarded to the same prompts exactly. Basically there were 4 charges to my account in the past two days, and one a couple weeks ago that I missed (I rarely use the card). They only asked for card number, address to confirm identity, and last 4 of SSN. They are promptly removing all charges!
Definitely a legit number - no worries! - GSOk, got the call this morning, and all you have to do is CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD! My account had been locked, nothing fraudulent had happened but they verified that I made the purchases, and unlocked the account. I did not call the 800-379-8461 number, but instead , the one on my card. So how is this a scam? Doesn't seem too hard to figure out. My account had been locked, so the number is obviously real. Like everyone says, call the number on your card!
- haroldAnybody who thinks that the yahoos posting here stating that Card Security is a legit operation probably would also believe the sun is going to start rising in the west from this day forward. Anyone calling you and immediately asking for your credit card number should set off a red flag pronto. Doesn't anyone think that the jerk bags posting favorable comments about this operation think that they just might be connected to this low life scam and are trying to sell people on its supposed legitimacy???? However, if anyone still chooses to fall for this scam BS, all I can say is suffer the consequences and last but not least: "WHY BE DUMB WHEN WITH A LITTLE LESS EFFORT YOU CAN BE STUPID."

- Louise| 2 repliesNot a scam. The call was from USBANK VISA to verify an online purchase from another country, which may have been what triggered the inquiry. I rather like the idea of a company that keeps customers informed of possible problems.
- harold replies to Louise| 1 replyLouise, we have a major problem here. You say this number is from US BANK VISA. I have three credit cards, none of which have anything even remotely to do with US BANK. Would you please like to inform me why US BANK would be calling me blocking credit cards they have no connection to??????? Just to satisfy my own curiosity I called my card issuers and guess what? NO PROBLEMS!!! What a big surprise. You betcha. So, you and the rest of the bottom feeders associated with this scam keep posting here telling everyone that has had a call from this number what a wonderful and legit operation this is. Good thing, for all the scams in the world, there are plenty of gullible dummies that can't think past next Friday's fish fry. YA THINK!!!!!!!
- ChristyMy mother had the same calll today from US Bank saying that it there were questionable charges. I had her to give me the number that called and it was 800-379-8461. I told her to call the number on the back of her credit card and it what they were claiming was true. The card has been closed and she is getting a new cc number. This wasn't a scam.

- CraigThis is a valid number for fraud prevention services. I told the person I wasn't comfortable giving out any info and she asked that I call the number on the back of my card. Turns out it led to the same place and indeed there were fraudulent charges on my card. I recommend everyone do as I did, call the number on the back of the card to be safe.
