- Mattie FReceived two nearly-simultaneous calls from this number (to cell phone and work phone), claiming to be from Fraud Early Warning. I don't give information to people calling my number (and it's rather short-sighted of Citibank to encourage users to get in the habit of doing so!), so I instead called the number on the back of my card to verify that the charges were legitimate.
- Caller: Citibank
- Jozef| 1 replyTotall legit. Made a payment using a new card for $4,673.11 over the phone and got a call from this number within 10 minutes! These guys are awesome - thanks Citi!
- Caller: Citi
- JimmyI received the same call from citi. They didn't call me, they instead called my brother about me. They have no way of having my brother's phone number. When I called they asked for an access # which they never provided. When I didn't enter an access # it sent me to an operator who asked for my credit card #. I immediately hung up. I called the # on the back of my citi card and they had a message for some unusual activity. I confirmed that it was me and they approved transaction. I still do not trust this other phone # because they called my brother, who has a similar name, thinking he was me. That sounds like a scammer to me.

- JohnLegitimate call - definitely Citi Card fraud department. Detected an unusual online charge on my account...I did NOT make the charge so the card info. had been stolen from me.

- AdamI got a text from this number telling me to call and enter a code. I did not. I logged into my Citi account online and there was a message about a fraud alert. I called the number on the back of my card and spoke to a rep that said there was suspicious activity on my card. He told me the amount and who it was paid to and I verified that it was a legit charge. I appreciate Citi being on top of things though. It is a real call from Citi and is definitely not a scam as some of the previous posters stated.
- RThis was a legit number. I got a text, email & robo-call from Citibank about a potential fraudulent charge. I called the number on the back of my card instead of this one, but the notification was legit.

- Jimmy replies to Matthew Elvey| 2 repliesIt is citibank. They read out your last four digits of your card and also will verify all your info. They never asked for any real vital info. No SSN #. After the call is done you will usually get an official e-mail from citi. You may also notice that it is the same automated voice as the one you hear when you call your credit card support #. Sometimes it helps to have different 800 numbers so you can get right to the fraud dept without having to go through regular customer service.
If it were a scam, how would they have all your info in the first place and also the LAST THREE CHARGES made to your account? - Anna| 1 replyThey're calling me at work, don't leave a message and I have no accounts with Citibank.
- Carol| 1 replyHey, this is indeed a legitimate number. We just got a call from them. Called them back and when we got nervous about answering questions, the lady said she understood and we should call the number on the back of our card. We called that number, and it was Citibank and that someone had just used our credit card number all the way across the country from where we live. Since I had used it only a few minutes before, they knew something was "up" and called to alert us. So, we now will be getting new credit cards on Monday.
- Caller: Citibank
- BeAware replies to AnnaIn case you didn't know, Citibank backs many other business credit cards - like Home Depot, Sears, etc. So just because you don't have a Citibank card, that doesn't mean that this is an invalid call.
Got an email and a call from this # and it turned out to be legit as someone chowderhead tried to use my card online and guessed the expiration date and/or CCV code wrong. - concernedThey should know better than to ask for CC#. That's the first step of phishing. I called the official Citibank number and the rep confirmed that it's not them. Either it's a 3rd party for Citi or it's a phishing or the rep just weren't aware that it is a secure number.
Just to be safe, never give sensitive infos to unknown parties.- Caller: CitiCards - Fraud Warning
- True_Citi_#i placed an order online, and they called me b/c they were afraid it was an unauthorized purchase.
all cleared up :) - JeremyThis was citicard early fraud department catching a charge on my card. I called the # on my credit card though, not some random # they gave me that ISNT even on their website! So despite it being very sketchy, it wasn't. But still it seems sketchy if you know what I mean...
Have a good night!- Caller: Citicards
- abrown925It is a legitimate Citi Fraud Protection Number. They called because my husband took our card to California, and they thought it might have been used fraudulently. If you are in doubt though, just call the number directly from your card and they will verify.
- Caller: CitiCard Fraud Protection Agency.
- Blondy replies to Smart Consumer| 19 replieshey, they left me a voice mail with the "message number" and representative stated that someone was trying to make $3,000.00 donation to some "Cyctic Fibrosis" organozation from my credit card, but the charge did not go through for some reason. So they cancelled my credit card and issued a new one.
- It's real| 1 replyI also got a call from this number and a text message saying that there had been fraud on my citi credit card. I called it and they verified the fraudulent charges, closed my account, and sent me a new card. Afterwards, I came on this site and got scared reading some of the posts that said it was a phishing scam. So I called citibank at the number listed on the back of my card. They assured me that I had actually been talking to their fraud department. Go ahead and call the number on the back of your card, ask them about the fraud, and they'll confirm it.
- Caller: citibank
- lewiwedi| 1 replyThis is Citi. I got the text message and then I checked my account online which said there was a fraud alert and told me to call the exact same number. This is not a phishing scam.
- Caller: Citi
- mattAutomated messaged from Citibank calling to confirm me signing up to access my account online. Seems legit to me.
- Caller: Citibank
- Cathryn replies to SamReal number. I called the back of my card to make sure the message and # was legit, and it was. It was a possible fraud warning on my card. Thankfully my account was safe.
- LaurenI'm on hold with the number from the back of my card right now. They said that they were calling to verify that I registered my account online and that someone else didn't have my information.
When in doubt, always call the number on the back of the card, don't give any info when someone calls you, always call to verify with a trusted number. Nobody needs to freak out, just use some common sense.
