I've been using HP printers for many years. My newest is less than 6 mos. old. I've never had a problem with them. I do not join "ink programs" & never would. My guess is that you got suckered in to calling a fake tech. & malware was installed. Do NOT call any number for customer service except the one that came on the paperwork with your device. Do NOT take calls from unrecognized callers who claim to be customer service.
Read the documentation that came with your printer & carefully follow the installation process. My printers have always worked flawlessly, wirelessly or hardwired. You don't need to be a genius, you do need to know how to follow directions.

Caller ID on the Land Line, showed the party to be a Toll Free Call.  Fellow w/ a heavy Indian accent said they can see that my computer is being compromised by a destructive virus.  I told him he was the Destructive Virus and hung up - as he kept on talking.

This Number is a legit number ... but ... what appeared to happen to my Customer this Morning when she called HP for Tech Support for her Printer, they told her that they would need to call her back (that is where the Scam begins). 5 minutes later my Customer gets a call back from a Restricted Number & they immediately went into giving my customer instructions to download Log Me In Remote Support Software. After about 5-10 minutes, they wanted $300 & she hung up the phone with them. Luckily I was available when she called me. The Rogue Technician (not a legit technician & not affiliated with HP) had minimized the Log Me In Remote Support Window & when I maximized the Window it was showing remote deletion of her entire Program Files Directory! My conclusion is that some employee at HP is giving out phone numbers of customers who are calling in for support to a Criminal Organization in India or other rogue location & then this organization is calling people back from a Restricted Phone Number so that the innocent individual trying to get their printer or PC repaired thinks that the person who is calling them is an actual legit HP Tech Support Representative. If the customer falls for this scam, I would think that the employee at HP would be getting a commission or some kind of compensation for providing this number to the Criminal Tech Support People. I must admit this is pretty clever, & just goes to show what lengths the Scammers will go to to trick innocent people out of their money. If you need support on your printer or computer, do yourself a favor & call & support your Home-Based Local Computer Support Companies or if you prefer, take it to a 'Big Box' store, but do not call any of these 800 #'s for Support if you can avoid doing so.

This is a SPOOFED NUMBER. IT'S NOT A CALL FROM THE REAL HEWLETT PACKARD. First if all, I NEVER had a subscription to a security package therefore they don't owe me any dang refund. 2nd, I was getting these calls for YEARS PRIOR to owning the 1 laptop by the real HP I have. I played along 1 time. They will not mail you a refund check nor will they refund it to the card on file. Why? BECAUSE IT'S A SCAM AND NOT THE REAL COMPANY!!! The REAL company would have all your information and mail you the check. Also, NEVER GIVE SOMEONE CALLING FROM WINDOWS REMOTE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER/LAPTOP. It's not really them calling you. You have antivirus software for a reason and don't need them to call you out of the blue claiming they received an alert a virus was detected on your computer. Yeah, love when they call. My brother is in IT at our local hospital and has been there over 20 years. He gets those calls on his cell all the time too.

    Tired of Spoofing
This is not HP, don't be fooled.  This is a spam call spoofing the HP number so please do not give them access to your HP products and certainly do not give them any personal information.  They call one of our cell numbers 3 times today.  We do not put our cell numbers on sites like HP and the cell that was called would never have been used for HP business anyway.  Be careful out there.

Called my cell, didn't answer and no message.  But this is a legitimate HP Tech Support number.  Follow me on this:  My daughter's HP laptop that I bought for her this past November suddenly stopped booting.  I tried everything I could think of, but nothing.  Since it was under warranty along with an extended warranty, I contacted HP.  After going through some rudimentary attempts, the technician said a bootable flash drive needed to be made and that it would require remote access to another computer.  Keep in mind I called them.  As he was accessing my desktop, we got cut off and he called me back immediatly - from this same number.  I checked my home phone logs just now and it shows this same number that just called my cell also called my house phone literally three minutes prior.  I do cybersecurity for a living and am always leery about giving up control of any computer, but I had security software running to monitor what the technician was doing, and it was all legitimate and a secure connection between me and HP.  Today's call was likely a follow-up to the recover package they were FedExing to me since the flash drive boot didn't work.  The package is to arrive today, so the fact my cell and home phone was called from this same number further shows it to be legitimate.
