We were approved for a loan modification with WF a few weeks back. We have this IN WRITING. Our first payment on this new plan is due in a week. We have worked out with our personal contact person to talk the day before the due date to set up the electronic draft. I just got a call from this number, did not have a chance to answer, they did not leave a message. It is NOT the number I normally call to speak to our contact person. My experience from before is that sometimes one hand of WF doesn't know what the other hand is doing. They need to either leave a message OR send me a letter if they want me to act on anything at this point. Make sure any decisions from WF are communicated in writing. We avoided foreclosure but we realize it's going to keep showing on our credit report, at least for some time. Once we are 6-12 months in to our new payments, we will discuss with WF to have this removed.

The person said they were calling about a debt collection. Did not identify himself or the company he worked for. He had my address. He said the call was being recorded and started to ask information questions so I hung up.

I called Wells Fargo and verified that this number is their collections department.  I had set up a payment plan and even though I am making my payments, they still are going to make collections call.  This is legitimate.

All you have to do is let them know that the payment will be in no later than the 16th or no later than the 30th and that'll stop any collection calls from there. Tell them how you make the payment and the amount that you'll make. One of the collectors let me know and so far its worked for me.

It really really isn't. They are unable to provide the loan numbers or the exact amount of the bills on the "debts" they are looking to collect.  Total scam using fished caller I'd number to present as a legit Wells Fargo number.

I did just that. Wells Fargo was NOT trying to reach me and my mortgage is paid up as it is every month since it's an automatic payment.  It is indeed a scam runny by very savvy scammers.

We are a State Agency.  I have tried to get to a live person but I get stuck in their menu when they want my mortage number.  Wrong number Wells Fargo.

I've been getting repeated robocalls from this number. Since I had a Wells Fargo mortgage, it showed up on my phone as "Wells Fargo". It is NOT Wells Fargo.  I called my mortgage broker and he said there is NO WAY Wells Fargo would be doing this. They are phishing for passwords and account numbers. Block this number immediately.

They have a fake website up that looks like Wells Fargo, in the event you look up "Norma" from "California".

Just change your phone #.  Very simple Life is too short to be bothered by these idiots.

Received this call with no message today.  Interesting because I don't have an account or loan with Wells Fargo.  Never have and, now, never will!

I just got my third "white envelope" attached to the front door.  Plain white, legal size envelope that has a slip of paper inside telling me to contact my mortgage server immediately at that same number: 800-678-7986.  It has no other information on it...not even my name or the banks.  I called WF and they know nothing about it.  It is a scam and a very annoying one.  I saw the guy come up the drive way today in a little silver car, and his Tshirt said Property Mgmt on the back.  Next time, I will confront him.  Idiot.

I have a mortgage with WF but I also have a re-payment plan so not sure why they keep calling me.

I was at home today and had a slip of paper with this phone number and said to call the number. Plain white envelope marked "Confidential". No name, no address, no company name. I called them and gave them my address, nothing else and they did undead say it's a scam.

You are not dealing with an honorable institution. I have been an excellent customer  since 1983 when Iadequate history as the 1st female officer equal to the males on LAPD. I accepted to open a credit card, which paid off in full every month, like an American Express card. On May 12 2014, I paid $1,460.00, but instead of applying.my money from my checking account  , they put it down as a cash advance, &

I have a home loan also, Wells Fargo calls me 5 X'so a day for $1,460, that they stole from me,; by applying  my full balance payment as a CASH ADVANCE, & then charged me $261 for the loan of the money. I filed a police report, worked on this for 12 months, I never received  back my payment of $1,460.00 & now Wells has over $1,700.00 of my money, they ruined my credit & I still am harassed  5 times a week,  e-mail tel.

Uh hum.... Butters, I'm so glad that you're the advocate for Wells Fargo! Let me clear something up for you! I've been getting calls from this number for weeks, and I am not more than 4 days late on my mortgage. As a matter of fact... Butters, I'm 3 months ahead!!! As far as speaking with rude people, Wells Fargo has the most incompetent staff of idiots I've ever had to deal with. So that blows your theroy of them " just wanting to help their customers with any mortgage problem". Why don't you go work for them and join the ignorance!!!

Scam number

As all others mentioned, when calling back an automated message states it's a Wells Fargo Mortgage line.

Two things have me confident it's a scam:
1) I am a college student with no mortgage. My mother is not with Wells Fargo, so her mortgage finances aren't a possible reason for the call.
2) I just changed my number this week (new phone), and have not yet updated my contact information with Wells Fargo. They have no way of knowing how to reach me at this point.

Any financial related issues I've ever gotten calls about, they have left a voicemail. This one seems to never leave one.

I keep getting calls to my work from this number. Always an automated message saying Wells Fargo calling regarding my home mortgage. I don't even have mortgage or bank account with Wells Fargo. Its be a call a day since 8/21/2015. Its driving me nuts!
