Only SCAMMERS want you to believe this is a real WF number to steal your $$$ and/or ID. - Christ will rise! replies to lesAnd bunnies lay eggs.
- washington state| 3 repliesI called the Wells Fargo number on the back of my card after I got this voicemail - the 800-704-0855 number really is Wells Fargo's fraud detection department, and some [***] had stolen my info and tried to buy a bunch of stuff at a Wal-Mart in Alabama. Transaction declined, account locked, card cancelled, new card on the way. If you get a call like this, though, I still recommend calling the number on your card (or calling your bank directly).
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- anonymous replies to washington state| 2 repliesNo one should believe your allegation that you were told by the real WF that 800-704-0855 is a legit WF number (and it is NOT). 800notes posts are anonymous, unverifiable and cannot be trusted to be true. By alleging that 800-704-0855 is a legit WF number (and it is NOT), washington state hopes you will call up and hear 5 transactions that WON'T be yours (guaranteed NOT to be yours because everyone who calls up will hear the same 5 FAKE transactions), panic, press #X to get a live SCAMMER rep, who will then ask you for your card number to pull up your account ("Mam, you have to provide your card number because we have no access to the fraud prevention service database."), will ask you to verify that you are the real owner of that account ("Mam, you have to provide your SSN/DOB/PIN to prove account ownership."), will ask you for the 3-digit security code on the back of your credit card ("Mam, we need the numbers to prove you have the card in your possession.") and BINGO! you've given your card away to SCAMMERS !!!
Only SCAMMERS want you to believe that 800-704-0855 is a legit WF number (and it is NOT).

With so many legit numbers available on those WF webpages, why would anyone want to call up 800-704-0855 that is NOT listed on those webpages? You could be calling a SCAMMER on 800-704-0855 pretending to be WF so DON'T!!! Absolutely NO NEED TO CALL 800-704-0855 when there are so many legit numbers on those WF webpages that you can call. Why risk calling a SCAMMER on 800-704-0855? Totally senseless, right? - Anonymous| 1 replyI received a call from this number as well. I looked up the number before I did anything and found all these posted. I was concerned so I called Wells Fargo (the number on back of card) and it is was the fraud dept of Wells Fargo. When in doubt...just call your bank. They were very helpful.
- ndjinnYes it's really fraud prevention WellsFargo. It called my alt number (after I ignored it on my cell) which I never use in transactions and is an unlisted business line not under my name. It also listed the last 5 purchases I made (including USPS and Amazon) all with me only entering my zip code.
- Caller: WellsFargo
- ndjinn replies to anonymous| 1 replyThey were in fact my last 5 transactions. Not that I care that you're wrong. The more diligent people are the better. Never give out information over the phone. All I had to do was enter my zip.
- Diana Munger| 1 replyreceived call that may have fraudulent charges on my account at Wells Fargo. Tried to call back but got message that they couldn't put me through at this time and to call back.
- Caller: Not Provided
- JPS replies to anonymous| 1 replyEach time I make an unusual charge for my overseas trip, I receive a call (unanswered) from this number. When I directly call Wells Fargo, they tell me there has been a hold place on my account due to the unusual activity. So there must be some relation to WF and not just WTF. Maybe Santa is looking out for me. And the Easter Bunny does lay eggs, haven't you seen the movie?
- anonymous replies to JPSOooh, excellent SCAMMER post! Since there was no one at 800notes' door to verify your various FALSE ALLEGATIONS, no reader should believe that ANYTHING you say is true, especially your ALLEGED "unusual" charges. Criminals make ORDINARY charges to stay below banks' radar, never "unusual" charges to attract attention. "Unusual" charges only exist in SCAMMER fables to bewilder the gullible. Santa looks out for VICTIMS, *NEVER* SCAMMERS, the Elves says "Hi!" and you have a SCAMMER "thing" for bunnies and eggs, don't you? Hahahahahahaha!
There is NO PROOF that 800-446-0664 is a legit WF number except for allegations from anonymous postings on an anonymous forum like 800notes. Allegations are not proof. Only SCAMMERS want you to call FAKE-WF numbers and give away your personal and account info.

- julie replies to ripWhy are you answering old posts??
- JimNThis is the Wells Fargo fraud protection department. It is not a scam, they are trying to protect their customers.
- Caller: Wells Fargo Bank
- Jason| 1 replyJust had this happen to me as well, multiple transactions in two days because of black Friday made them trip the Fraud Alert. I called them back and it new who I was, asked for zip code from billing to make sure then asked if the following 5 transactions where legit if not it transfers you to a wells fargo rep.
Just because someone at WellsFargo doesn't have a phone number they use doesn't make it a Scam.
BTW
It's rather simple to spoof a caller ID and use this number for fraud so yeah, don't give them any information over the phone that could be used to steal your identity etc. As the others say, just call them from a trusted number.
I'm glad they called even though they where all legit, better then dealing with the BS afterwords.- Caller: Wells Fargo
- anonymous replies to JasonJason is a very poor LIAR.
1. Jason says "I called them back and it new who I was".
2. Then Jason says "It's rather simple to spoof a caller ID and use this number for fraud".
But you know what? The real WF *ALSO* knows that CallerID can be spoofed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing and that's why the real WF will *NEVER* use CallerID to identify callers. But Jason says "I called them back and it new who I was". Now how did WF know that it was Jason on the phone? The *ONLY* data WF had on Jason's incoming call is Jason's number on WF's CallerID and we *KNOW* that the real WF will *NEVER* trust their CallerID to identify callers so Jason LIED LIED LIED about "I called them back and it new who I was". There is absolutely NO WAY that the real WF would have trusted the number on their CallerID to identify Jason from his phone call alone. Jason LIED. Why would Jason LIE? That's because Jason wants readers to believe that 800-704-0855 is a legit WF number (and it is NOT), call 800-704-0855, listen to 5 FAKE transactions (guaranteed to be FAKE because EVERYONE who calls 800-704-0855 will hear the SAME 5 FAKE transactions), panic, press #X to get a live SCAMMER rep who will then steal the victim's account and personal info, followed by the victim's money and ID.
Mamba posted on 27 Jan 2012 on page 3 "I just got off the phone after calling the legit WF Fraud number direct from their website. The rep there said this IS a known scam and had no record of 800-704-0855 as a legit WF number" but Jason says "Just because someone at WellsFargo doesn't have a phone number they use doesn't make it a Scam." But it's not just "someone at WellsFargo", is it? It's the Wells Fargo Fraud Department, not just "someone", telling Mamba that 800-704-0855 is NOT a legit WF number, and that 800-704-0855 is a known SCAM.
Jason says "As the others say, just call them from a trusted number." This is FALSE. Nobody legit said that. A SCAMMER might have said that but no legit poster said that. What I have been saying is if you want to call WF, use a number from a TRUSTED SOURCE (back of card, bank statement, website, phone book) which is NOT the same as "call them from a trusted number". Calling WF using a number from a trusted source is NOT the same as calling WF from a trusted number so Jason LIED LIED LIED AGAIN.

3. If you need to call WF, use a number from a TRUSTED SOURCE (back of card, bank statement, website, phone book) - Just HappenedThis just happened to me as well. Called Wells and they confirmed this is an auto dialer for their fraud department. My card had been used online for a site in the UK. Card cancelled and all is good. FYI - Wells Fargo, or any other bank for that matter, don't have the staff to monitor and shut down every single fraudulent charge on every single account. They won't shut down your debit card because they think a transaction might be fraud. They will, however, try to contact you to verify the charge.
While I agree, always call your bank when you get a call like this, the anonymous person who keeps posting the same website is a little off. The representative I spoke to stated that "while this is, in fact, a number used by Wells Fargo, it is not used as a contact number so it wouldn't be listed on the online directory." I'm not sure what exactly happened to this annonymous person, but it's obvious that they're very angry about it.
It's a good number, but always call your bank if you're not sure- Caller: Wells Fargo
- 01This is a Wells Fargo internal number for the Fraud prevention department. I just had to post this since one of my customers told me about this page. It is in fact an automated system service. It would call the number that the bank have on file to verify any suspicious activity in your debit card. If you don't trust the line you can always call the number on the back of te card and ask to be transferred to the fraud prevention department.
