- NoneyaCalled claiming to be Wells Fargo about fraudulent activity on my new card and wanting me to verify personal information. I hung up and called the wells Fargo number from my card and -shocker- there was no flag for fraud on my account. Total scam.
- BBG| 2 repliesI just spoke with Wells Fargo & they verified that the number is legitimate. They also advised me to ALWAYS call them on their website number to verify if ever in doubt.
- Caller: Wells Fargo Fraud Dept
- Tygerkat replies to BBGAs phone numbers are easily spoofed, even if this is a legitimate number for Wells-Fargo, one should always be in doubt when called by it. Best to never give any caller personal information but instead call the number on the back of your card or on your statement.
- kkmReceived a call from 800-704-0855 claiming WF fraud verification for Maxwell Ingalls. Have no idea who Maxwell Ingalls is. Nor do we ourselves have any WF accounts. Number blocked.
- Unwanted callsCall from this number on my daughters phone --no message and she didn't answer ---but they keep calling over and over --she only has three numbers programmed into her phone --this is obviously a scam!
- Caller: Unknown caller
- Unwanted Calls replies to BBGThey just told us it was NOT them
- JohnHollandII replies to not MichaelI think they might be foreign. Foreigners think Americans have a lot of money and if they are stupid enough to fall for their sh...scam...they deserve to be part with their money. I don't think scammers care. they are sociopaths. Even if they aren't outside the United States.
- anxiouswoman| 1 replyA transaction that I made online myself got flagged as potentially fraudulent. I received a text confirmation of the transaction and confirmed it, and then attempted the transaction again. It was denied again. That's when I received a call from this number. I missed the call actually, and they didn't leave a message. I called back and was prompted to enter my card info regarding potentially fraudulent charges (and they specified the merchant/amount of the transaction.)
I am usually hyper-aware of potential fraud and am very careful, I know not to give any information out to a number that calls me, but only to a number that I call. But for some reason, since all of this happened so close together, and beacuse I really wanted the transaction to go through, I entered my info!
I actually hung up as soon as I was connected to a representative because I realized what I'd done, and called the number on the back of my card instead. I got through to a rep and at first she didn't see any call coming out to me from the fraud department.
I pressed her a little bit further and described the situation, and she said, "there's one more thing I can check" and put me on hold. She came back and said that she actually does see a call that went out to me from an automated machine.
I pressed even further and asked if she could confirm the phone number it should've been from. She said she needed to conference with someone to get that information and put me on hold again. When she came back she said yes, that was the phone number that they'd called from.
CONCLUSION: this is a legit WF number. It is likely that a given customer support/fraud dept. representative will not immediately see this info in front of her, because every autmated machine making these calls uses a unique number and they're not listed in the primary directory.
Secondary conclusion: You've always got to get really specific with these big institutions, and press them (politely) to help you get exactly the information you're looking for, before you freak out.- Caller: Wells Fargo 18007040855

if you are notified of a problem with your card,
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD

CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD - CeCe replies to anxiouswomanOh and also when they called me 3 TIMES IN A [***] ROW my husband checked my account and nothing was on there and I didn't make any purchases for a week so before you write a long paragraph and try to make it believable don't waste your time ☺️☺️
- V-Got a call from this number. I do not answer numbers I do not know. Checked this site and so glad I did. I do not have a Wells Fargo account, never have.

- Annoyed WF customerWells Fargo. Real Call. Stupid. They left a long message that is inaudible, so apparently they had their microphone off.
Since I just got paid, I paid 3 bills online today. Tonight, I had enough $$ to renew spyware. The second one for $9 was declined. Repeatedly. I wrote to them to complain. Then I saw my Google Voice voicemail. Not transcribable.
Ridiculous. WF is a PITA. When I buy from overseas, they delay me for a long time. I have, over the years, learned that I must call them to ask permission to use my money.
But $9 is ridiculous- Caller: Wells FArgo apparently
- KateGot a call. No message. I don't HAVE a wells Fargo account...
- AnnoyedThis number is spoofed. Not the real Wells Fargo no do I have an account. Phishing!!!!
- AndiReceived a call from this number, said it was Wells Fargo and that I had a fraudulent charge on my account. Checked my account online, didn't see anything. Called WF to report getting calls from someone claiming to be them, except it turns out I really did have charges that were blocked for being fraudulent. Card cancelled. So if you get a call from this number, might be worth calling WF via the number on their website just to be sure.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- LaurenReceived several calls from this number. I never p/u unless I know the number, and not too many people call me from an 800 #. Did not leave a message, but knew it was bogo!!
- Caller: 800-704-0855
- Ethan replies to AriaThen why did they ask for my full SSN
- Lisa R.| 1 replyReceived a voicemail stating the person was calling from the Wells Fargo Fraud Dept. Left this 800 # as the callback number in addition to stating I could also call the number on the back of my card. I called the number on the back of the card and the Wells Fargo rep said they did call me to verify activity on my card. All items were indeed charges I had made. Once we reviewed those charges, the rep told me she removed the hold on my bank card.
