Why did you make a sarcastic and uninformative reply to a post made by a woman seven months ago?

They have called me. Asked me no personal info but asked me about several out of state charges and told me they were suspending the card immediately and to expect a new one in the mail which did come. The funds were refunded. They definitely do call.

    Too Wise For This BS
Scam. They asked for the security code on my debit card. I hung up and went to the bank for a new card. The banker said they never ask for that.

I received calls on consecutive days.  I called backed using the same phone number which I was called.  The phone call started with an automation asking about recent transactions.  Two transactions were not made by me so this lead to an operator.  The operator asked for the zip code associated with the card, but never asked for the card number or pin.  The operator knew my name then proceeded to discuss unauthorized charges.  After informing the operator the two UK transaction attempts were not mine, he immediately stated that a new card would be shipped.

After the phone call and reading all of these conflicting posts, I watched my account very carefully.  No other transactions have been made against my account.  The following day, I received an email from Wells Fargo stating my new card had shipped.  I, then, proceeded to the Wells Fargo website where a message was awaiting in my account also stating my card had shipped.

My experience was legit, but please keep in mind that phone numbers can be easily spoofed (meaning the number that pops up on caller ID could have been altered from the actual number; same with emails and text messages).  If you uncomfortable with handling fraud protection with this number or with telecommunications in general, you can walk into the brick & mortar Wells Fargo and request a new card.

This is completely legitimate. Verified by Wells Fargo and used by myself more than once when they suspect fraudulent activity. If you do not responded to the call, they will lock your card and you will be forced to do the same thing manually by calling their number, getting a service representative, verifying your identity, and verifying the last 5 purchases on your account. This is not a scam

    Readers:
    Be Safe, Not Sorry
Rather than believe the posts in this thread, or the words of an anonymous caller,
if you are notified of a problem with your card,

CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD

Even though the number in this thread might belong to your card issuer, the scammers can easily spoof what appears on your CallerID, and attempt to get your precious ID and card data!

    Be Safe, Not Sorry!

CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD

Wells Fargo fraud dept, calls to verify activity on your card.  ONLY ask for zip to verify that it is you, and then the automated voice list last several purchases for you to press 1 if they are legit, or 2 if they are not, which will then transfer you to a representative.

    Again, this IS Wells Fargo.

Considering that I do not actually have a Wells Fargo account there is no way possible that this could be legitimate.

Me again!  I called WF fraud department to report the scam number and discovered it wasn't a scam.  Charges were being denied on my card and long story short, I am being issued another card!  They saved my day from financial ruin considering one of the charges was in Dublin!  If in doubt you can call your bank to verify.  Here I thought having the chip prevented this sort of thing from happening....sigh!

Sigh...! You again. On a weekend, proclaiming the validity of a caller.
Whoops! You screwed up. You wouldn't be here twice if the call was legitimate.
Nice try. You've failed. It will fail again tomorrow when you try it again. You're a fraud & you've been reported.

Riddle me this.  If this is the Wells Fargo Fraud Department calling to notify of fraudulent activity on "my" card,  why would they call me when I have NO Wells Fargo card and NO Wells Fargo account?

Definitely a scam / fishing expedition.  I called Wells Fargo directly after receiving a call from that number.  The card number that the scammer was calling about didn't exist in any of my accounts and the loss prevention person at WF told me that was not one of their telephone numbers.  Just hang up !!!!!!

Very good advice, Jay.  Since there are differing experiences with this telephone number, 800-704-0855, I imagine some spoofing is going on and possibly mixed with some real calls. When I called Wells Fargo, I realized that was definitely a scam and that the number listed above is not one of their numbers. But other people on this blog say that it is indeed Wells Fargo's number. Maybe those reports are false, I do not know. Just call your bank directly.
