Be Safe, Not Sorry
Rather than believe the posts in this thread, or the words of an anonymous caller,
if you are notified of a problem with your card,
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD
Even though the number in this thread might belong to your card issuer, the scammers can easily spoof what appears on your CallerID, and attempt to get your precious ID and card data!
Be Safe, Not Sorry!
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD - SWells Fargo fraud dept, calls to verify activity on your card. ONLY ask for zip to verify that it is you, and then the automated voice list last several purchases for you to press 1 if they are legit, or 2 if they are not, which will then transfer you to a representative.
Again, this IS Wells Fargo.- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Spamspasm replies to 2busy2Considering that I do not actually have a Wells Fargo account there is no way possible that this could be legitimate.
- LadyAReceived a robo call from 800-704-0855 at 09:47 this morning. It had the last four of my card correct, yikes! Once I had a fraudulent charge and Wells Fargo contacted me with a real person from their fraud department - NEVER with a robocall!!!
SCAM SCAM SCAM !!!! Don't give them ANY info!!!!- Caller: Toll Free Number
- LadyA| 2 repliesMe again! I called WF fraud department to report the scam number and discovered it wasn't a scam. Charges were being denied on my card and long story short, I am being issued another card! They saved my day from financial ruin considering one of the charges was in Dublin! If in doubt you can call your bank to verify. Here I thought having the chip prevented this sort of thing from happening....sigh!

- Gunnar replies to LadyASigh...! You again. On a weekend, proclaiming the validity of a caller.
Whoops! You screwed up. You wouldn't be here twice if the call was legitimate.
Nice try. You've failed. It will fail again tomorrow when you try it again. You're a fraud & you've been reported.
Skeff Ett Liv!
Gunnar - MJG replies to LadyAWhy does Whitepages.com flag this a FRAUD/SCAM with over 1000 complaints against it?????
- FancoisRiddle me this. If this is the Wells Fargo Fraud Department calling to notify of fraudulent activity on "my" card, why would they call me when I have NO Wells Fargo card and NO Wells Fargo account?
- Caller: Unkown
- Aslan Rules replies to hypnoDefinitely a scam / fishing expedition. I called Wells Fargo directly after receiving a call from that number. The card number that the scammer was calling about didn't exist in any of my accounts and the loss prevention person at WF told me that was not one of their telephone numbers. Just hang up !!!!!!
- Aslan Rules replies to JayVery good advice, Jay. Since there are differing experiences with this telephone number, 800-704-0855, I imagine some spoofing is going on and possibly mixed with some real calls. When I called Wells Fargo, I realized that was definitely a scam and that the number listed above is not one of their numbers. But other people on this blog say that it is indeed Wells Fargo's number. Maybe those reports are false, I do not know. Just call your bank directly.
- Alpha Male replies to hypnoIt is Wells Fargo You moron! Its Fraud department, they contact you if someone has your card and there are strange authorizations.....idiot! I do not believe your wife works for Wells Fargo because she would know this unless she is an idiot or maybe because im banging her on the side because I am an alpha male and you are a beta male!

- BigA replies to 8778867538They send those texts out to thousands of people hoping they will get some that are foolish enough to click that link. That same link you should not have included in your post by the way since it is probably a malicious site. Always forward unwanted texts to 7726 and never click on a link. I have reported your post for removal of the link to save other "curious" posters.
- WayneThis is a scam. I simply called the real wells fargo number on back of card. They checked the account and there was nothing wrong. I explained that the so called fraud dept wanted the security numbers on back of card, and the real wells fargo guy laughed. Never give that number. Ever.
Are you people stupid?!
So I called back the scammers just for fun. Spoke to "Tyler". I told him his mom wouldn't approve of scammers, and he could talk to her, since she was at my house, but busy at the moment.
They monitor this site. Yes it's a scam.
If you gave them your card number, you're screwed.- Caller: Super scam
- SherryA message was left on my voicemail last night from that number saying there was a possible fraud concern. Without thinking, I re-dialed. Voice on the other end asked for my card number to access my account. I spoke to a gentleman who asked several questions, last four digits of ssi and security code. From past experience, this information has always been asked. I was then given a list of my last five charges. They were indeed the last five charges made on my account. They let my recurring charges go through, but declined a foreign charge. The foreign charge was actually valid, but declined at time of purchase. All was well with the world; until I googled the above number and read so many people saying it was a scam. I called the number on my card to check whether they had called. YES, indeed they had called and Yes, they called from the number in question. Of course I can't guarantee every call from the number in question is valid. I know we've all had our share of unscrupulous scammers. They suck. Aside from the money they steal, they should be locked up for the emotional, and pain in the ass toll, they take. I hope some people that have questioned the number in question may feel some relief.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- EricTHIS IS NOT A WELLS FARGO NUMBER. DO NOT CALL BACK.
I called Wells Fargo Customer Service (800-869-3557) and a representative confirmed that that is NOT one of their numbers. - Lee replies to DuganNot fraud. A very real call. Automated verification of transactions by the Wells fraud prevention department.
