- ConfusedAll these posts are really confusing. I tried calling it and went through automated line the got hung up on after the 5 last transactions. After trying to get through several other times, I called the number on the back of the card. there were fraudulent transactions in process which were listed among those the automated line stated.
Bottom line is if this number calls you, one way or another, there is someone possibly trying to use your card for fraud. Call the number on your card immediately to double check.- Caller: 8007040855 Wells Fargo fraud
- Avery Dalfrey replies to SCAMVery legit. Not a scam. The fraudulent charge will not show on your online acount because it has been canceled and has not "gone through" so to say. If you feel unsure just call the number on the back of your card. They will confirm with you whether the charge was legitimate and if it is not Wells Fargo will cancel your current card and mail you a new one.
- Wells customer replies to Are You Serious?Funny, I just called Wells Fargo directly after receiving a call from this number and they said this was a scam. Their fraud dept had NOT called me and this is a scam.
- I Know BetterTHIS IS NOT WELLS FARGO. Do not give out any information to them. Call Wells Fargo using the phone number on the back of your card so you know who you are talking to. I reported this to them.
- Caller: Wells Fargo (NOT)
- D.H.received the call, did not answer. something told me to call it back and i did. i let it go through to an individual instead of entering information. i gave no identifying information yet they still knew the last four digits of a card i replaced about a month or so ago. I told them to prove to me that they were the bank and they could not do that. I hung up. Checked with my bank and all is well.
- Caller: Wells Fargo--Scam
- AnnaThis is a legit call from Wells Fargo's fraud department.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- CharmainI did receive 2 calls from this number. However, because it wasn't the regular number I always call I called Wells using the number on my card to confirm. They did say someone had tried to make a $500 purchase. I verified my recent transactions and ended the call. It only takes a few minutes to double check your account. So please just call the number you are most familiar with or stop by one of the branches. Don't allow these scam artists and thieves the chance to get any of the money you worked so hard to get.

- Kelly replies to xThey have called me. Asked me no personal info but asked me about several out of state charges and told me they were suspending the card immediately and to expect a new one in the mail which did come. The funds were refunded. They definitely do call.
- Too Wise For This BSScam. They asked for the security code on my debit card. I hung up and went to the bank for a new card. The banker said they never ask for that.
- Caller: Thief and Lowlife Inc.
- Jay| 1 replyI received calls on consecutive days. I called backed using the same phone number which I was called. The phone call started with an automation asking about recent transactions. Two transactions were not made by me so this lead to an operator. The operator asked for the zip code associated with the card, but never asked for the card number or pin. The operator knew my name then proceeded to discuss unauthorized charges. After informing the operator the two UK transaction attempts were not mine, he immediately stated that a new card would be shipped.
After the phone call and reading all of these conflicting posts, I watched my account very carefully. No other transactions have been made against my account. The following day, I received an email from Wells Fargo stating my new card had shipped. I, then, proceeded to the Wells Fargo website where a message was awaiting in my account also stating my card had shipped.
My experience was legit, but please keep in mind that phone numbers can be easily spoofed (meaning the number that pops up on caller ID could have been altered from the actual number; same with emails and text messages). If you uncomfortable with handling fraud protection with this number or with telecommunications in general, you can walk into the brick & mortar Wells Fargo and request a new card.- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Bob Maier replies to Fraud Squad| 6 repliesThis is completely legitimate. Verified by Wells Fargo and used by myself more than once when they suspect fraudulent activity. If you do not responded to the call, they will lock your card and you will be forced to do the same thing manually by calling their number, getting a service representative, verifying your identity, and verifying the last 5 purchases on your account. This is not a scam
