Same as all the above. I did get a line through by continually pushing "0". The first half of the message said that they identified my account through my number. When the live person answered he kept asking me what my number was. I exploded, used vulgarity telling him to remove my number from their list and he said, "Sir, what is your number?" Isn't it sad that what are probably normal humans are convinced there is honor and respect to harassing others? We can never stay on top of the world needs with people like this working for groups like this.

This is most certainly Sallie Mae.

It is 4:30 p.m. here and they have called my phone nine times today. ... Sometimes not even an hour apart per call.

I am unaware as to what to do about this.  I am the sole income for my house yet I work a part time job, between 12-18 hours per week and am barely squeaking by with the essentials.  If I did owe them money... I couldn't afford to pay it.  I do not see the situation improving as my boss seems to tell me she needs to give the rest of the hours to a faster employee but if I cut off any of my availability to get a second job I may lose the first one.

The ringing phone drives me absolutely bats ... yet I am afraid to try sending a cease communication by phone letter because then they may sue me faster and I genuinely cannot afford it.  If I saw the situation changing anytime soon then a deferment would be possible.

If anyone knows how the heck to get these folks to stop calling so dang much without getting sued faster please by all means indulge us.   I don't feel like I can deal with these consistent calls for the few years it may take before I could afford making some sort of payment.

First... replies to An Annoyed Person
You need to find out if they are actually looking for you and not someone who used your number. Once you find that out, you can ask them to send all documentation of what you supposedly owe in the mail. You are not admitting that you owe them anything by doing this, you are simply telling them you want proof of their claims.

If at that time it is clear that you do owe them, you need to sit down and have a very long talk with them to see if you can work something out.

But you are going to have to do something cause if you let this go and you actually owe them, it will put your credit in the toilet for probably the next 30 years or so.

Oh god, these people are amazing.

The calls started a month ago.  Same voice....
Hi, this is Heather with Sallie Mae.... Call is for "Magdalena Wilson"  yada yada

Ummm, it's not me.  No one that I know.  Never heard of Sallie Mae before this bull started.
Everyday, same thing.  Was once a day at about 6:15PST.  7 days a week (weekend times in the morning).   Now it is 3 and 4 times a day at different times.   I have called them MANY times and they can never find my phone number or name in their system.   Operator said they would email a supervisor to have it removed since they can't find an account with my phone number.  They even looked at different spellings of the account name.  Of course, when I call from home, it would say that it recognizes my phone number, but they still can't find it.  I even recorded the message on my iphone for the operator to hear, but still no love.

Keep in mind, I don't have ANY loans.  Even my house is paid off.  zero debt.  If you google my name or phone number, I am the only one that comes up.  Note:  They did have a madgalina, but she was in Texas and they confirmed that the phone number was different.  My name and number are not listed as even a cosigner or even a contact to anyone.

Every 3 to 4 days, I would call and they would email a supervisor to at least check into it, but nothing happens.

All in all, I was able to resolve this ONLY by blocking the call.  I called Verizon (now Frontier) and explained the issue.  AMAZINGLY, the operator was not only named Heather (like the sallie mae automated voice), but she had the same problem (although she did have a loan with them several years ago).   So, putting me on hold for 5 minutes, she was able to get me the call block feature for free.   So, now I do NOT have to put up with damn Sallie Mae anymore.  (Call block is good for 12 numbers for same price which is $3.50 a month, but free for me).   Highly suggested, even if you do own someone money.

Even if I had to pay, it would be worth it.

We are senior citizens. About a month ago, we picked up a Cricket cell phone while our regular cell phone was being repaired.  We immediately began receiving all sorts of calls from this number - demanding that we put "Audrey" on the phone right away.  No matter how many times we tell them that we have NO idea who "Audrey" is - they keep right on calling.  We had ALL of our telephone numbers - including this one - listed with the Government's No Call Registry.  Even though we told the callers that we do NOT know "Audrey," that our phone is listed with the No Call Registry and that we HAVE been filing complaints about their unwanted calls - they keep right on calling.  They NEVER identify themselves - just demand to speak to "Audrey" right away.  We suspect that they are probably a credit card scam telemarketer or a collection agency of some sort, but they always hang up when we begin asking questions about them.

On a daily basis I receive at least 10 - 15 calls a day from these people. so much so that one week I saw a telemarketing number in the newspaper and put it on my voice mail. So, they call me back and say they tried reaching me at that number and no one knows me. So, the following week I put another number on my voice mail, that i got off the television, It's a number for people who wants late night hookups. Finally i put the Do Not Call gov. number on my voice mail and I did not get any calls until about 2 days ago.......
Go to google translate you can type a message in the box and have a computerized voice read it off for you. In whatever language you like then record it on your voice mail. but you must let your regular callers know whats going on so they would not get freaked out...

    Federal Laws replies to vanessa
Even if you owe these people a legitimate debt, if you write them a letter requesting they only contact you in writing and cease telephone calls, they MUST comply by federal law.  If they continue, even once, to call you after you have notified them in writing you don't want them to, you can sue them--and win.  Just because you owe them money doesn't excuse them harrassing you.

You can't garnish wages like you say you can - it's based on state laws and my state doesn't allow for it. Look it up, you moron. Obviously a Sallie Mae idiot. The most you can do is take my tax refund and with the money I save YEARLY in not paying you idiots, it more than makes up for it.

And if you think your constant calling gets you anywhere you have lost your marbles. It's not hard to change a phone number.

just save the number on your cell and set it to have no ring tone when they call. Now you can start living your life with a false sense of freedom :D

It is Sallie Mae and they called me on Christmas Day. I am reporting them for it. Plus if you get a call from this number to your cell phone it is illegal to call a cell phone and play recordings. They have to take money off your account if they do call it.

Uhm... no. Dude, if they have your cell number its because its on your file and one way (or the only way) for them to contact you. Sucks that they called you on Christmas, but chances are that they're calling you for a valid reason.

Since when is it illegal to call a cell phone and play a recording? Share where you got that info from, I'm really curious.
