    Call receiptient
Received another call this morning on the fax from 800-722-1300.  It appears that they are doing this as a prank because it is almost impossible to phish on fax machines.  After checking found out that they have called the fax several other times in the past and also from 317-578-6000.  That number shows up as unpublished, but as Sallie Mae in Fishers, IN.  Never heard of Sallie Mae before and do not have any of their loans.  Their calling is occuring along the same timelines as receipt of what has now been identified as a possible prank postal letter regarding refusal to bill a disabled person's government insurance benefits.  Our non-published fax # that never received questionable cals before suspiciously has now ended up in the hands of these apparent baddddddd phising people.  Those that attempt to pull crap and pranks with the disabed to harrass their kin should be ashamed of themselves!  Thanks for all the great info on this forum!

First of all get a student loan so you can learn how to spell WAGES!
I pay my Sallie Mae loans and confirmed with Sallie Mae. This is a company that wants to collect interest on your loans by paying them directly. It's a middle man.

Maybe if you were polite and left messages it would be a different story. I have talked to you people and keep telling you I'm still in school, therefore, my loans aren't even due yet and you keep calling back over and over and over again. So why don't you listen to someone for a change and stop being nasty. If anyone is a loser its you.

Yeah, but they don't always have loans or the loans are paid off.  These bottom feeders are randomly looking for suckers.

They randomly cold-call from a sucker list, whether or not those called have loans or not.

The company that recently bought SallieMae loans is called NelNet. They apparently lost alot of info in the sale.  They had a 10 yr old address for me.  I had loans with them, but they were gone as of 2008.
Now they tell me I owe them money.  I don't think so.
I don't quite know what to make of this issue anymore.

robot dialed calls random generated. you who say "pay your bills" just go back to the trash heap you crawled out of. I never had a student loan from anyone, but they call me 15 times a day. I asked for proof of loan, they hung up the phone. they think they are immune from proscecution.

It doesnt matter if you pay or not or almost died in a wreck...they are the worst company I have ever dealt with....they need to be taken down! Actually I am investigating this number and their people as I type....they may be a fake company looking to "be" a collection agency for SM....I spoke to the Federal Trade Comission and was told to report them to the BBB since they were doing fraud to my bank account! The most unprofessional bunch you will ever met...(harassment is an understatement) their attitude makes it obvious but don't get lured in by how nice they are in the beginning! Research first...

If you are being pursued by Sallie Mae, which is the distributor of Federal and Private student loans and if they call you please ask the collector who they are looking for and verify information with them. Used to work in collections for them. If you are behind on your payments at least ask for forbearance, which can tack on more interest to your loan, but gets them off your back for 3 months for a private loan, and 6 months for a Federal loan, in which you have five years of this time to use. Private loans though these days cause you to pay a fee for each loan serviced by them so it is in your best interest to take advantage of this.

If you can't pay due to some financial hardship, ask for "Income Sensitive" repayment options.

Yes they are aggressive, some collectors are rude but some are more than willing to work with the debtor to get back in good standing.
