- Sharon JMy senior citizen mom has no debts and this place called Saturday morning and left a message about her student loan account, stating it is important she speak to them TODAY. She has never, ever had any student loans and has never had any delinquent debt.
I called them back at the 800 number this caller left, within 15-20 minutes of their message, and they automated system said they are closed. It asked if I knew the account number; but the caller had not left an account number in her voice mail message, so I said "no". The automated system said, "That's okay just enter your social security number". I hung up. The caller ID displayed 317-595-1244 for this company. If you think Sallie Mae or some legit company is trying to contact you, call them directly on one of their listed numbers, because I think this caller is attempted to victimize & defraud people.- Caller: callerid shows Sallie Mae
- Sharon J replies to RobertI'd be suspicious of this. There are a lot of scam artists out there in the world.
If you think there is a problem with your student loans, call the UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION directly, not this place. Remember, the news reported that there were widespread instances of people's student loan information having been compromised a year or two ago. Don't make yourself a fraud victim of these people and get tricked into giving up your credit info. The US Dept of Education will give you the correct information and contact numbers concerning your student loans. - SuperAnnoyedThis number has called at least 10 times in the last week. Each time they ask for someone who does not live here, and I politely inform them that they have the wrong number. However, they keep calling. I do not and never have had any student loans of any kind. I wish they would get their act together and remove my number from their list. You'd think after being told 10 TIMES that they have the wrong number, they would stop calling. It's annoying and I would love to report them for harassment.
- DM replies to PayUp| 2 repliesOh! So you actually think that anyone who might not pay their loans is simply too lazy to pay it?...no couldn't be lack of ability to pay or any other reason. And of course EVERYTHING that happens is life is under the control of the person it's happening to...right? I'm not making excuses for anyone but guess what your overly simplistic thought process and unsolicited advice is helping no one. Kindly shut ur pie hole.
- MBD replies to person| 4 repliesIt was Sallie Mae - not a scam
- MBD replies to DuchesssammiHave you thought of just calling them?
- MBD replies to lolUsed up forbearance time ?
- KathyI don't even have student loans! They are looking for another person who had the number before me. I wish there was a way to call them and get my phone number off their list.
- azyou pay the damn bill and they continue to have their computers call you. Gov't programs suck!
- Moron. replies to DM| 1 replyThen you shouldn't have entered a financial obligation if you're not willing to honor the terms of the agreement.
- jumbobIt's Sallie Mae student loan services. Funny thing is, I don't have any student loans. I have explained this to them and they have told me repeatedly that they were removing my number from their service, but they still call several times a day. I called their main office 2 weeks ago and THEY claimed to be removing my number (said it would take up to 2 days to take effect). Still getting calls (just got one from an autodialer despite their office being closed).

- GrumblyI used my state's Attorney General website, gave them the dates and phone numbers, told them I had recorded the conversations, explained that I had no dealings with Sally Mae, and that they were looking for someone with a similar name to mine - not me. I eventually got a letter from both the Attorney General and the creditor saying that I was going to be removed from their list. There was a year or two of quiet, then started getting "Urgent that you contact us" voicemails. Grrr. If it turns out to be the same jerk they are looking for, I'll do the process again.

- Trixieryder replies to jd| 1 replynot entirely sure it is Salle Mae although they say it is, when you call them they ask if you have your loan #, if you do not have it they ask for your social security #. I have parent plus loans and am also handling my son's student loans while away in military. Sallie Mae nevers asks me for my social or loan # when I call them or when they call me...., they have that info already; I think caution should be used when calling this number back. Sallie Mae ALWAYS leaves me a message when they call my phone, this number calling does not leave a message. so BEWARE is my best advice.
- ana replies to MBD| 1 replyhow the hell do they get your #? what gives them the right to harras the hell out of you!!!!!! How do you stop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- KatieThis is Sallie Mae. If you google the number and look past this site you'll see it listed with a Sallie Mae site as well as a .gov site. I called back and the guy helping me was very friendly and took care of my issue. I though I was in deferment but some of my loans showed outstanding and he took care of it for me.

- breeI have been getting calls from them, too. I had my student loans consolidated and am paying them through myedaccount.com, so any of you wanting to call me a lazy sob who's not paying off her loans, stfu. Because I am paying them and have no reason to be getting these calls.
