They are a 3rd party loan re-pay company.   We have 1 Student Loan out and they are calling us to get them to use there service.  DO NOT DI IT..  You will pay more.  The Woman that called, and my wife answered, said that they cant give us any information why this call is being made until they confirm my SSN number..  DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM.  My wife was smart and did not do that.  BUT now they are calling my mother in law that lives downstairs from me.  This is illegal I believe.  STAY AWAY FROM THIS GROUP..  The name of the business is called "NAVIENT" and there web site is:  www.navient.com..   Use caution with them.

emailed/contacted a family member and claimed they were on a student loan as a co signer and were fishing for personal information.
They also left this phone number to call to call 866-723-7373.
My solution for my family member will be an FCC filing/complaint online showing the attempted to fraud as well as sharing the same information letting the actual Department of Education by phone and reporting it to their federal fraud department and Im sure their not happy with a scam that use a U.S regulated organization.
The people have the power, protect your friends and loved one's by reporting your case. Good Luck

Here is the website for Navient. Says they're a loan servicer for several types of government loans. I'm still not sure why they're calling me. The one I co-signed is on auto pay. https://www.navient.com/about/contact-us/

"Department of Education" calls every day, leaving a message for Mario, a reference listed on a loan application. This is a direct office line I've had for five years. No Mario here. Wonder why they keep hounding a reference? Get a life.

Navient calling to follow up on a complaint I filed with CFPB..lol. When I call back, I get a computer that doesn't transfer me to a person and requests that I make an appt for a call back so I'm guessing it's a dial-out only line.

    no idiot here
Automated message said my name and number was given as a reference for a student loan application. I didn't catch the number to call back so I called the one on caller ID, all I got was automated service that demanded I enter my ss number or no help can be given. Well if I was a listed reference then my ss wouldn't be on file now would it

They called my cell, I saw it was an 800 number and didn't answer...so they voice mailed me immediately after using a local number telling me it was an urgent student account thing I had to call them about...but gave me the 800 number to call.  I never took out student loans...worked  while going through school 25 years ago.

They call my work cell everyday. They say its Navient a student loan place businesses don't have student loans. I just want it to stop. I set up a call back and spoke to a real nice person who said they would take the number out of the system. The very next day they called again.  Why cant the government do something about this. This affects everyone

This is Navient Student loans calling not Sallie Mae, Sallie Mae deals with home loans, may I add Navient is in a case action suit. These collectors are calling trying to get information about the person they calling for it part of a skip tracing tool, when a person dosen't pay or they lose contact with a client by either they have wrong numbers, address etc. They start calling references that might had your number or they skip trace for people who live in the area like (neighbors) the client lives this is collections 101 to find there clients and make them pay their debts. Now there are some cases where there is fraud like people give your information and they don't t know you to a business to harass or intimidate or scam you if you believe this to be so in your case then file a complaint with FTC, Do not call registry, your local Attorney General office and file a police report so it will be on hand. These are a few to name that you should contact and give them all the information on the company or person that harassing you numbers, dates, times, voice mails and any other information you may have must of all know your rights as a consumer & privacy laws in your state...Good Luck!

They call every day looking for someone who has not had this number for over 10 years. When told this they said the number would be removed from the list but they continue to call. Can they be sued? If so how would I go about it?
